Molecular Diagnostics Infectious PCR Testing :
Infectious PCR Testing : Collect one tube/test. Mix well after collection by
Hep C PCR (Qual) / Hep C RNA, HIV Viral Load, inverting GENTLY 5-6 times then, Centrifuge, separate
Hep C Genotype / Hep C (Quant) / Viral Load. plasma and freeze.
Hep B (Quant) / Hep B Viral Load / Hep B DNA PCR. Non-Infectious Genetic Testing :

Special Chemistry: Trace Metals including: Zinc INVERT tube GENTLY 6-8 times after collection
Lead, Cadmium, Aluminum, Selenium, Copper,
Arsenic, Mercury, Cobalt, Chromium. Always label tubes with Patient’s full name, date of birth,
TRACE ELEMENT date & time of collection and bar code
If 3 or more trace metals requested collect 2 tubes
EDTA (DARK BLUE)

Glucose, Alcohol, Lactate Always label tubes with Patient’s full name, date of birth,
date & time of collection and bar code
Fluoride Oxalate (GREY)
Note: ESR tubes must be full draw volume.

Haematology: ESR (Regional labs only). INVERT tube GENTLY 6-8 times after collection
