Overall aim and context of the lesson

Identify how to round the numbers to the nearest 1000.

Mathematics, rounding to 1000.

Describe (D):
The lesson was math lesson which is about rounding numbers compound from 4 numbers to the
nearest 1000. Students already take rounding, so I asked them questions about the rounding to
link it to their prior knowledge, and be familiar with the new lesson. I provided an online game
which had varied of questions about the rounding to nearest 1000. Then, they had PowerPoint
involved examples for rounding to the nearest to 1000, and I explained how to solve these
questions step by step. Finally, they had assessment for each level of students.
Analyze (A):
In the engagement, students were engaged from the beginning of the class, so I think that teacher
had to catch the student’s attraction from the beginning. They enjoyed the online game and I saw
that they already good in rounding the numbers and be familiar with it. Moreover, asking students
questions to see what they know and don’t know about the lesson. In the core, I believe that
providing examples for the questions to introduce the new lesson for the students is good idea
and then scaffold it and explained in clear steps to let the students understand and don’t have any
misconceptions, Finally, assessment help the teacher to check students’ understanding and I saw
that most of the students understood my lesson, when I checked their works.
Appraise (A):
The lesson was good, students were engaged and work effectively with me. I achieved my learning
objective when I provide engagement questions and games, examples and explained the lesson
step by step through asking students questions to help me solve the questions. Besides, I provided
different assessments for each level which help the students doing well as their abilities of
knowledge.
Transform (T):
In the next lesson, I will try to provide more challenges for high level students because they were
finished quickly. Moreover, I have to provide more activities for more engagement.
