Overall aim and context of the lesson

Identify the layers of the earth (inner core, outer core, mantle, and curst).
Compare and contrast the Earth’s crust, mantle, and core including thickness, and
composition.

Describe (D):
The lesson was science investigation focused on discovering the different layers of the Earth. This
lesson is based on how many layers that the earth had, compare and contrast the Earth’s crust,
mantle and core include how thick it is and what is it made of. To extend the students’ knowledge
about the lesson they will learn about the temperature of each layer.

Analyze (A):
I think using the PowerPoint to explain the lesson to the students is a very good idea to let the
students be involved in the lesson and understand it by showing the picture of each layer. Involving
the video about the earth and let the students identify what is true and not true in the trailer of the
movie is an effective one to introduce the students to the lesson. Moreover, I believe that asking
questions will guide the students to get knowledge of the lesson.
Appraise (A):
I think all the students were engaged in my lesson and did their work effectively. My goal was to
allow the students to identify the layers of the earth and how thickness it is. I achieved this goal
when I prepared a PowerPoint to include video, guiding questions, examples for real life which
help me to do it. Additionally, I assume that it’s important to provide a worksheet to check the
students’ understanding at the end of the lesson.
Transform (T):
In the next class, I will be focusing on providing hand on materials and use managing class
strategies to manage the students’ behavior.
