Food chain a hierarchical series of organisms each dependent
on the next as a source of food.
Food webs a system of interlocking and interdependent food
chains.
Prey An animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.

Habitat The natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or


other organism.

The students know that animals feed on each other.
The student knows that some animals feed on herbs and some on meat.

Possible Problems and Misconceptions (What are some problems that students will face because it is assumed
hat they have the previous knowledge?
They don’t know the different between carnivores and herbivores.

Solutions (How/ What can be done to resolve the problems/misconceptions?


I well show them a video about food chain and a PowerPoint
Give the student different worksheets about food chain and get them to make their own food chain.

The teacher will say who can tell me what food chain is
Ask the students what the lion eat, giraffe (and other animals)

Student language (What language will the students use throughout the lesson?
Student use English language, but some Arabic because grade 2 students they don’t understand everything very well.

Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): time:


The students sit in the carpet 10 minutes
The teacher will show the students short video about food chain.
The teacher will teach them about food chain through the PowerPoints
Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures:
The teacher explains the worksheet
The teacher asks from the students to go back to their seats
Each student will make a food chain by drawing 25 minutes.
Teacher walk around the groups to give some advices for students.
Remind students of the remaining time
f the students finish early there is a work sheet for them
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment): 10 minutes

The student come back to sit in the carpet, we discuss the students drawing.

I well teach the student through a PowerPoint, about habitat change and we will discuss some pictures
Give the student different pictures about habitat change, they must discuss with their group,
then they write their idea.

The student will work as groups, but first we will write in the book p 122-125
Teacher walk around the groups to give some advices for students. 25 minutes.
Remind students of the remaining time
f the students finish early the teacher will give them white paper to draw about habitat change
for example the UAE before and after)

Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment): 10 minutes


The student come back to sit in the carpet, we discuss the student’s pictures and drawing.
