JANUARY. REBECCA MORLEDGE
In September 2017 I started studying for my MA in Illustration at Nottingham Trent
University. I have always had a strong interest in children’s books and decided that this
would be the perfect opportunity to concentrate my art on creating illustrations
specifically for picture books. Taking the course was one of the best decisions I have
made. Going back into education makes you take a fresh look at everything you do and
look closely at what those around you are doing. I have always said I would love to create
illustrations for children’s book but never really did anything about it. I produced four
picture books in total during the one-year course which felt like a huge achievement. It
was a very intense year of nonstop work but so rewarding, I would highly recommend the
course to anybody considering going back into education. I now continue to create my
street and city scenes but also am constantly looking for ideas for my next picture book
creation.

MARCH. FRANCES DAUNT
Frances Daunt is an animal artist from Lea Nr Matlock. She works in a variety of
media, from pastel/mixed media art to her award-winning felted work, which has been
exhibited nationally.
‘I believe that my love for animals shines through in my work, from a close up of a tiger’s
face to a portrait of a beloved pet I work hard to capture the spirit and energy of the
animal.’
Frances work is collected all over the world last year she won the Keith Shackleton Award
from Nature In Art at Wallsworth Hall, the world’s first museum and art gallery dedicated
to fine, decorative and applied art inspired by nature.

MAY. LESLEY LINLEY
Lesley’s artworks are predominantly landscape and waterfalls; several them depict
waterfalls that are on the Isle of Skye which was her home for some years she has returned
to her roots in Derbyshire and has begun work on local waterfall scenes.
‘I paint in transparent watercolour, without use of masking fluid or body colour; this
approach means that paintings take many hours to complete. Recent work is mostly
mountains and waterfalls around Skye as I lived on the island until April last year. I don't just
paint the large/famous waterfalls, but any that appeal to me. Some of these
paintings are large and more complex works; the size and time involved in producing each
piece make it impractical to paint outdoors.’
Lesley is currently working on her new book which will be published by search press.
In turn, I hope my paintings captivate and engage the viewer enough to evoke an
emotion or a sense of connection.’

JULY. CLARE WHITE
Clare White is a landscape painter from the Peak District who likes to experiment and
push materials to create layers and textures. These paintings are an expression of the way
she experiences places in the Derbyshire landscape.
Clare has recently started a series of paintings inspired by the Weleda Field in Ilkeston,
Derbyshire, an area of several acres where Weleda grow the plants they use in their
products: "A beautiful place where the human activity is in harmony with nature and the
earth. She will continue this series throughout each season.

SEPTEMBER. JILL KERR
My printmaking focusses on linocuts. I build up the final image in layers using the
reduction method. Editions are limited to between 10 and 20 original prints. Themes
include rural scenes and landscapes. I have gained several awards including the Friends
Trophy twice in the Derbyshire Open. I am a member of Peak District Products and High
Peak Artists and Craftworkers. I exhibit widely and have work in public permanent
collections. I trained at Manchester and Reading University.
Tracy also worked as a lecturer in Stockport College for several years, teaching life
drawing, image-making and print. Her career spanned over several levels, introducing
visual skills to a variety of creative courses; this included the delivery of both traditional
and digital media within Graphics and Illustration. Tracy also runs workshops, teaching
life drawing and visual skills in 'the studios' in Derbyshire.

NOVEMBER. MARK BERESFORD
Whilst enjoying a successful career in Logistics, Mark renewed his passion for art.
Originally a watercolourist, Mark’s most recent discovery of oil now provides the perfect
medium to capture mood and atmosphere of sea, land and city subjects. He likes to
pursue subjects that evoke atmosphere, light and accommodate a ‘soft edge’
Mark is a Sheffield based artist painting the city itself, reflecting many childhood
memories of the weather and busy people. Further inspiration is drawn from the
neighbouring rugged landscape and changing skies of the Peak District. His great escape
the Isles of Scilly reflects the white sands, blue seas and sheer tranquillity of the beautiful
isles. Images of which are produced following endless hours of watching rather than study.
Mark is currently exhibiting in several galleries including London and Truro. and has most
recently had a collection of works in the Spring Affordable Art Fair, Battersea, London.
