NASPE Standard(s): Standard 1 - The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and
movement patterns.
Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement
and performance.
Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
Standard 5 - The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-
expression and/or social interaction..
Achievement Targets:
Aiming and accuracy while passing/shooting, control over the direction of the ball, receiving a pass, goal tending
Special Planning/Preparations (i.e. safety concerns, etc.):
Rules: The students will keep their partners and be on 10-15 Soccer balls, pickle
teams of 2 and begin to play toss-receive-catch over Min ball net
the net. If caught = 1 point, if the ball hits the ground
no point. Toss it over. Allow 1 bounce. Partner helps
catch/control.
Activity: Keeping their same partners, the class will 15-20 Soccer balls, cones
begin playing a game of “Pong.” Players pass back and Min
forth to each other. The rules are that the ball must
never stop, must always stay on the ground and must
go through the two cones without touching them.
Whenever this is violated the other person receives a
point. The closer the two cones are, the closer the pairs
are going to be. The farther apart they are, the more
they will have to move laterally and look more like the
old arcade game “Pong.”
