The topic that I discussed and analyzed extensively is inequity in education in the United
States. Education plays a pivotal role in continuing to cultivate and expand knowledge among
not have quality access to education and therefore are less likely to pursue higher education.
Therefore, the perspective I wish to argue or bring forth in regards to the topic is spreading
awareness and encouraging effective action towards addressing this issue that at many times
tends to be overlooked. The development of this current knowledge of this topic is through my
own direct, personal experiences in public education from the Pre-K leading up to graduating
high school. Moreover, through research I have found several resources that highlight this topic
and its impact. These resources include online articles, videos, and e-books. The combination of
both personal experiences and valid resources strengthen the position that I aimed to defend
There is no target audience that I would want direct sole focus on but rather the goal is to
spread awareness to every individual. Through awareness there is knowledge obtained and
through knowledge action is taken. Limiting the discussion of this issue to a certain target
audience seems to contradict the notion of awareness. Therefore, I want the audience to
understand numerous factors that have an affect in the inequity seen in education in the United
States. These factors include social class, income, race, and ethnicity. By presenting these points
and discussing them I want the audience to empathize in order to expand their perspectives.
Empathizing brings individuals closer together and allows people to support one another.
However, what may challenge the position I attempt to share are individuals who fall under the
