Introduction

1.1 Objectives of Double Connectivity Rural Roads under MPRCP

Government of Madhya Pradesh has set up a goal of providing all weather connectivity to
all its villages by year 2018 in its Vision Document (Madhya Pradesh Drishti Patra). This
also includes Black topping & gravel of all roads Earthan Roads.

Objectives of the project is to constructed alternative connectivity under MPRCP (Double

Connectivity ) to the standards of black topped roads. This bituminous surface would
mean to provide underlying layers of the required thickness and seal them with surface
course basically mean bituminous topping of premix carpet, chip seal or any other
standard means of surfacing prescribed by Indian Roads congress. Presently surfacing by
premix carpet with seal coat is being adopted. At present the roads providing Double
connectivity.

1.2 All Weather Road.

An all-weather road to be taken up in this program. An All Weather Road is a road that is
trafficable in all weather conditions. Typically this means a road that is constructed in such
a way that excessive rain does not cause it to be flooded or sodden to such an extent that
vehicles travelling over it are likely become bogged..

1.3 Core Network

The rural road network required for providing the „basic access‟ to all villages/ habitations is termed as the
Core Network. Basic access is defined as one all-weather road access from each village/ habitation to the
nearby Market Centre or Rural Business Hub (RBH) and essential social and economic services. It
comprises of Through Routes and Link Routes. Through routes are the ones which collect traffic from
several link roads or a long chain of habitations and lead it to a market centre or a higher category road, i.e.
the PMGSY Roads or District Roads or the State or National Highways. Link Routes are the roads
connecting a single habitation or a group of habitations to Through Roads or District Roads leading to
Market Centers. Link Routes may generally have dead ends terminating on habitations, while Through
Routes arise from the confluence of two or more Link Routes and merge on to a major road or to a Market
Centre.

The sub project road of ANANDDHAM (Ghasoi) to Gelana Total Length 4.25 in Sitamau block of
Mandsaur district. Will Provide alternative Connectivity to 7 villages ( Antraliya ,Lakwa,Dhankedi, Ghasoi,
Gelana) to approch middle & High School ,Primary Health Center , Police station , R.I Head Quarter,Market
Center ,Panchayat Building, Railway Station Suwasra will Benefite about 8445 Papulation through a shorter
route & and also short the distance for Ghasoi tourist place will fetch higher traffic the detail is also mark in

Commissioner's Division. It lies between the parallels of latitude 230 45' 50" North and 250 2' 55" North,
and between the meridians of longitude 740 42' 30" East and 750 50' 20" East.

1.5 Climatic Condition

The District is an average size district of Madhya Pradesh. It extends for about 142 km. from north to south
and 124 km. from east to west. The total area is 5521 km² with a population of 116483 in 2001. Rain fall
data for the site is collected from WRD division office Mandsaur ( inclosed)
1.6 The Sub-Project Road

The road passes through plain & Hilly terrain. There are Primary school, at Gelana Village & Panchyat at
Gahsoi Village hence Ghasoi and Gelana both villages are likn by this route for sevral Services . The
construct of proposed road will faciliate to approach the secondary school, helth centre, market, post office,
panchayat facility available at Suwasra. The proposed road on completation will reduse the distance of these
facility as mentioned in Annexture-1A. The Block Head quater distance of Villages Lodakheda , Ramnagar ,
Dhakadkhedi, Dhanwada, Gelana, Dhabladeval and Dhaturiya will also reduses after the completation of

2 Planning and Basic Design Consideration.
2.1 Alignment investigation:
The planning & Basic design of road depend upon the population of villages, there is
plain and hilly type of terrain in the proposed road & 7 no. of cross drainage work
propsed in road etc. The population of benifited villages are 8445 hence as per guide
line of MPRCP villagers facilities by all whether road .

This road passes through plan & hilly terrain and hard strata at the end of road due to
hilly area. The existing road not have proper width, geometric design and cross
drainage work so the estimate is prepared as per approved drawing & Design.road is
passing thru non habitation area hence proposed for flexibal pavement.

9 Pavement Design
9.1 General
Considering the subgrade strength , projected traffic and the design life, the pavement
design for low volume MPRCP roads were carried out as per guidelines of IRC: SP: 72 –
2015.
9.2 Pavement Design Approach
9.2.1 Design Life
A design life of 10 years will be considered for the purpose of pavement design of flexible
and granular pavements.

9.2.2 Design Traffic

The average annual daily traffic (AADT) for the opening year as well as the total
commercial vehicle per day (CVPD) was presented in Table 5.2.

9.2.3 Determination of ESAL applications

Only commercial vehicles with a gross laden weight of 3 tonnes or more are considered.
The design traffic will be considered in terms of cumulative number of standard axles to be
carried during the design life of the road. The numbers of commercial vehicles of different
axle loads are converted to number of standard axle repetitions by a multiplier called the
Vehicle Damage Factor (VDF).An indicative VDF value will be considered as the traffic
volume of rural road does not warrant axle load survey.

For calculating the VDF, the following categories of vehicles is considered as suggested in
paragraph 3.4.4 of IRC: SP: 72 – 2015.

Ø Laden Heavy/Medium Commercial vehicles

Ø Un-laden /partially loaded heavy/medium commercial vehicles
Ø Over loaded heavy/medium commercial vehicles
Indicative VDF values considered 10% of laden MCV and 10% laden HCV as overloaded
& given below:

Vehicle type Laden Un-laden /Partially laden

HCV 7 6
MCV 16 17

Lane distribution factor (L) for Single lane road = 1.0 Cumulative ESAL application = To x
4811 x L, where To = ESAL application per day The Cumulative ESAL application for the
project road as per paragraph 3.5 of IRC: SP: 72 – 2015

12 Land Acquisition
12.1 General
The existing road is generally an earthen track. Thus the project road is a new connectivity
road. The existing Road occupied width (ROW) details show in formate 9b of social formates.

12.2 Proposed ROW

The width of carriageway has been considered as 3.75 m in accordance with the IRC-SP 20:
2002. The total roadway width is limited to 7.5 m with 1.875 m earthen shoulder on either
side of carriage way. Patwari naksha also showing the details about availabel width in social
formates.

12.3 Additional Land

Local administration and local panchayat agreed at minor areas in places for development of
the road. Villagers are generally highly enthusiastic during site visits for selection of the road.
During Transect Walk information collected and duly documented in the specified format
where from it confirmed that the land and earth will be available. The two PAP agreed to
provide the land for road construction but feared to sign MOU, Inspire of convincing and
detailing about MOU PAP did not singe MOU. other 09 people have encroached the land and
they are ready to give the land at the time of road construction and the MOU is also signed.
