Quadricentennial Park

The Quadricentennial park or also called “Qpark” is a considered as a 21st century park. Located
in between the Main bldg. and the Miguel de Benavides Library. It was built around 2006 and
despite the fact that the University of Santo Tomas was built in 1611, this park is still considered
as a 21st century park due to the contemporary landscape elements present in this area.

The Quadricentennial Park/Square emits a vibrant effect to the ambience that is seen in UST.
The park showcases a classy architecture with an interactive fountain that opens every 6pm and
several Al Fresco spots. The sculpture of Ramon Orlina, “tetraglobal” is the centerpiece which
symbolizes the various stakeholders of the university represented by 4 figures: A Dominican
priest, an educator and a male and a female student.

When it comes to the physical elements of the park’s design, it is almost symmetrical. The color
scheme that is seen in the park is so senescent that it gives off a vintage and historic vibe. The
two focal points of the park is the Quattromondial or the tetraglobal sculpture and the
quadricentennial fountain. Large trees form a linear structure that creates a balanced and scaled
design.

This was the original location of a building called “co-op” primarily a canteen that houses
different food stalls along with school and office supplies. Adjacent to this is a garden with a
pavilion with lots of koi fish swimming.
