Bloom’s Taxonomy problem?
levels
Understanding level: Could we 9 pencils to 3 students equally?

Applying level: Give me an example of division problems.

Analyzing level: Why do you think there is a relation between division and
subtraction?

Evaluating level: Checking their answer using number line or repeated subtraction.

Creating level: decorating each type of sweeties after dividing them equally.

Introduction (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)

I will start the lesson by discussing the learning outcomes and the vocabulary.
I will introduce to the students what we are going to learn. ‘Today we are going to learn about the
relationship between division and subtraction.

I will show the students a problem on the PowerPoint (Majid gives 15 pens to three of his friends.
How many pens will each friend get?)
I will solve the question using the repeated subtraction 15-5=10 / 10-5=5 / 5-5=0
Time: 10 min

I will subtract 15 from 5 then 10 from 5 then 5 from 5 till I get 0.

Then I will use the number line ( I will start from the 0 then I will skip 5 numbers till I reach
Whole

number 15 then I stop and count how many times I skipped 5 numbers).

Independent Experience (mixed abilities groups activity 1):

Each group will have division problem, one type of sweet and topping decorations.

They will solve the problem using the repeated subtracting method then they will decorate the
sweet according to the answer.

In the closing time, I will retell the students what we have taken. ‘Today we learned about the
10 min

relation between division and subtraction.’

The students will solve exercises from the book. Then I will discuss the answers with them.
