Institution in the prescribed format.
I herewith enchose enclosing a crossed demand draft drawn on a nationalized bank for

1. The application will be rejected, if required documents for the purpose are not enclosed.
2. All rights are reserved with Dr. B.A.O.U. in order to extend the recognition for the Study Center.
3. Minimum 10 and maximum 20 students are required to be enrolled in each programme per batch,
failing which the students will be transferred to the nearby centre. In such a situation the centre
will be in non-operational state for the given academic session and would be activated for the next
round of admission.

2. Application Procedure
The Institute must apply in the prescribed form, which can be had from the University office or from the web site of
the university. This from should be submitted at the University Office with a DD of Rs.10,000/- as application
processing fee, in favour of “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University” payable at Ahmedabad with the relevant
supporting document as mentioned bellow:
a. Certified true copy of the Trust / Society deed /Act.
b. Last 3 years audited balance sheet
c. Details of the Trustees with their address proof
d. Sanctioned site plan of the Institute
e. Details of the infrastructure
f. Details of the teaching staff in the prescribed format.
g. Photograph / CD showing the infrastructure of the institute.
The University shall assess the requirement of opening the institute at the proposed place as per the prescribed
criteria. If the University feels that there is no need to open another institute at a particular place, it will refund the
Application processing after deducting 10% as administrative charges.
Preference will be given to those institutions which are already running some educational or training programmes.
Institutes having multiple branches or locations should file applications forms for each branch separately. The
infrastructural requirements at each of the branches will be considered separately for assessing its suitability for grant
of approval.
After the visit of the Special Study Centre committee if the institute is granted approval, the institute shall have to pay
non-refundable separate programme fee of Rs.10000/- each for each programme, for which they have been approved.
3. Identification Committee:
A committee consisting of 5 members called “Study Centre Approval Committee” shall be constituted by the
hon’ble Vice-Chancellor for granting approval for Special Study Centre. This committee shall have 3 representatives
from the University and 2 from IHTM. However, the size of the committee may the reduced to 3 persons if required
(two from University and One form IHTM).
4. Functions of the Special Study Centre Approval Committee
1. Inspection: The applicant institute will be inspected prior to the affiliation. Based on the inspection report
decision will be taken. The date of inspection shall be intimated to the Institute in advance. The Institute is
expected to be ready for inspection on that date and extend full co-operation to the Committee. However any
interference in the process of inspection and decision-making shall be taken adversely.
2. The committee shall submit their report within 5days from the date of such visits.
3. The committee shall inspect the facilities available at the study centres as per the declaration made in the
application forms.
4. The committee shall give more importance to assess and judge the involvement and eagerness of the promoters
to implement and run Distance Education Programme.
For BCA:- To start the programme in the 1st year the institute should have min. 4 faculty with first class in
B. E. / Tech. in Computer Science / Engineering / Technology or equivalent OR first Class M.C.A. degree or
equivalent.
Infrastructure:
1. Area: The premises may be owned or hired. Adequate provisions should be made for classrooms,
library, faculty rooms, laboratories, etc. as per the following specification:
• 4 class rooms of minimum 400 sq. ft each (preferably 5 class rooms)
• Library room of minimum 200 sq. ft.
• Faculty Rooms of Minimum 200 sq. ft.
• Computer Lab should have 10 computers adequate seating area.
• Office room of minimum 150 sq. ft. Storage area with adequate furniture 100 sq. ft.
• Student common room of 200 sq. ft.
• Circulation and other areas include Toilets, Corridor, Staircases and common area etc. at least
200 sq. ft.
2. Library – Library is an integral part of any educational process. The proposed study centre should have
adequate library facility as mentioned above. The library should subscribe minimum prescribed number
of Journals / Magazines related to the discipline and should have text books / reference books of the
subject. The details of minimum prescribed number of books is given below;
For Masters Programme: min. 7 to 10 titles of each course. For Bachelors Programme: min 5 to 7 titles
of each course. News Papers / Journals / Magazines: The Institute should subscribe to at least three daily
news papers of which one should be related to Business & two magazines related to each sanctioned
programme.
3. Training Aids – LCD / OHP, VCR / CD / DVD Player with TV & DRS monitor and accessories.
I. Housekeeping Practical Lab with furnished Rooms & Full toilet attachments
II. Basic cleaning equipments like vacuum cleaner, housekeeping trolleys etc
III. Food & Beverages Service Labs with Furnished Restaurant / Service Lab
IV. Well equipped bar with sample liquors (empty bottles would do).
V. Conference facility (which can be used as banquet hall).
VI. Food Production Lab with well equipped Kitchen (Indian & International)
VII. Bakery & Confectionery Section
Special Note: In absence of the facilities mentioned in point v to vii, only in the 1st year of operation the
proposed study centre may tie up with any good hotel (preferably star category) for practical classes.

Illustrator, Adobe Premier, 3D Max etc. and any other as prescribed by the

University as per the requirement of the programme.
5. Decision of the University regarding both affiliation of the institute as well as subject
affiliation will be final and binding for all institutions.
6. For any dispute, the jurisdiction will be Ahmedabad only.
