VACANCIES
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following
position/enlistment:
1. Post: Quantity Surveyor
Qualification & Experience Requirements
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent
qualification acceptable to the Board
• Registered with the Professional Quantity
Surveyors’ Council of Mauritius
• Reckon at least 5 years’ post registration experience in the related field
Salary Scale
Rs 51300 x 1700 – 64900 x 2250 – 69400 x 2700 -
88300 p.m. + increases at approved rates
2. Enlistment as Cadet Technical Officer in the following fields
(A) Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
(B) Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
(C) Information and Communication Technology
(A) Qualification Requirements for Cadet Technical Officer (Electrical and/or
Electronics Engineering)
(i) Cambridge School Certificate with credit in 5 subjects or Pass not below
grade C in at least 5 subjects at the General Certificate of Education
“ordinary level” including English, French and Mathematics at one and the
same sitting;
(ii) The Cambridge Higher School Certificate or General Certificate of
Education “Advanced Level” with pass in at least two principal subjects at
one and the same sitting; including Mathematics and Physics;
(iii) A University Diploma/Degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering from a
recognised University.
OR
An alternative equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
(iv) A valid driving licence (including Van up to 2.5 tons) would be an advantage.
(B) Qualification Requirements for Cadet Technical Officer (Mechanical or
Mechatronics Engineering)
(i) Cambridge School Certificate with credit in 5 subjects or Pass not below
grade C in at least 5 subjects at the General Certificate of Education
“ordinary level” including English, French and Mathematics at one and the
same sitting;
(ii) The Cambridge Higher School Certificate or General Certificate of
Education “Advanced Level” with pass in at least two principal subjects at
one and the same sitting; including Mathematics and Physics;
(iii) A University Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from a
recognised University.
OR
An alternative equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
(iv) A valid driving licence (including Van up to 2.5 tons) would be an advantage.
(C)Qualification Requirements for Cadet Technical Officer (Information and
Communication Technology)
(i) Cambridge School Certificate with credit in 5 subjects or Pass not below grade
C in at least 5 subjects at the General Certificate of Education “ordinary level”
including English, French and Mathematics at one and the same sitting;
(ii) The Cambridge Higher School Certificate or General Certificate of
Education “Advanced Level” with pass in at least two principal subjects at
one and the same sitting; including Mathematics and Physics;
(iii) A Diploma/BSc (Hons) in Computer Science or related discipline from a
recognised University.
OR
An alternative equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
(iv) A valid driving licence (including Van up to 2.5 tons) would be an advantage.
Note for Enlistment as Cadet Technical Officer
(i) Candidates not possessing a credit in English Language at the Cambridge
School Certificate will also be considered provided they possess a credit in
English Literature at the Cambridge School Certificate or a pass in General
Paper at the Cambridge Higher School Certificate.
(ii) Candidates not possessing a credit in Mathematics at the Cambridge
School Certificate will also be considered provided they possess a credit
in Principles of Accounts at the Cambridge School Certificate or a pass in
Accounting at the Higher School Certificate.
Stipend and Salary Scale
The selected Cadet Technical Officers will be required to undergo both theoretical
and practical, including on-the-job, training for a period of at least two (2) years.
During their training, the Cadet Technical Officers will draw a stipend in the scale of
Rs 33 175 x 975 - 35125 + increases at approved rates.
On successful completion of their training and, as and when vacancies occur,
Cadet Technical Officers will be considered for appointment to the grade of
Technical Officer in their respective field which carries salary in the scale of
Rs 35125 x 975 – 36100 x 1350 - 49600 x 1700 - 63200 p.m. + increases at
approved rates.
Bond
Selected candidates will be required to enter into a bond (which will start as from
the date of enlistment) as per the conditions laid down by the Central Electricity
Board.
Age Limit
For both the above position and enlistment, candidates should have reached
their 18th birthday and should not have reached their 40th birthday by the closing
date.
