car park, forcing to try and find a street car, costing more money. If I'm too slow, or stuck at work to
put more money into the meter, I get a parking ticket. It's a vicious cycle. I live 5kms away from the

council approves a Harris Farm Super store for Darby Street without any consideration of where
their 60 staff park each day, local streets parked out up to Parkway Avenue daily as cbd staff fight
for parks. Traffic on Darby Street is not fit to service the increased traffic turning into Harris Farm
there has also been increase of daily truck movements along Darby Street to delivere goods and
produce to Harris Farm. This behaviour is not sustainable. The council should be ashamed of ever
allowing this business to open in the location.

27 I was using public transport before the route changes, even with the nightmare of parking in the 11/13/2018 9:48 PM
CBD, driving in is still a better option.

28 We were ver negatively impacted by the construction of the light rail. The completion of the rail 11/12/2018 5:21 PM
works has failed to see much of an improvement as yet - I think this is due to - change of people's
habits over the lengthy construction period, roads still being congested and or blocked in the CBD,
and reductionin parking spaces directly outside the premesis and the challenge of finding a park
on both hunter and king streets

29 Wickham Interchange has had a positive impact on Honeysuckle office workers but the removal of 11/12/2018 2:22 PM
parking has created stress.

30 Have had to change hours of business and make special arrangements for staff 11/12/2018 11:49 AM

32 Taking away the parking is hurting every business, it's plain andsimple. Footpaths are upgraded, 11/12/2018 6:08 AM
which is nice. But we seriously need a bus network that caters for everyone, like Sydney. Which
probably means they would have to run a lot of new routes that will be mostly empty for a while
until people catch on.

40 The CBD is definitely revitalised but transport and parking is aimed at visitors not those who need

50 During construction of the light rail there were massive issues however now that things have 11/8/2018 4:31 PM
settled down things have improved. ·

51 Footpaths are fantastic. The bus stops have gone outside the front of our shop so we now have 11/8/2018 3:12 PM
parking which we haven't had for years.

52 Against my business 11/8/2018 3:01 PM

53 Disrupting business, and hinderingclients coming to office for meetings 11/8/2018 2:48 PM

54 It is difficult for couriers to get to our business as our deliveries are sometimes quite bulky. 11/8/2018 2:48 PM
Couriers are annoyed by the lack of loading zones.

55 As we are a niche market, our regular customers generally make the effort regardless of road 11/8/2018 2:16 PM
difficulties. This being said, we do rely on passing foot traffic which had been dramatically reduced
whilst the rail corridor work was ongoing. This difficulty has lessened somewhat now that Hunter St
is once again traversible.

56 It is making it extremely difficult for my staff to get to work and customer and clients struggle to find 11/8/2018 1:58 PM
parking for periodsbeyond 2 hours.

57 Public Transportpeople have lost confidencein as it is clunky and unreliable. Trains and buses 11/8/2018 1:49 PM
coming into town don't link.

58 As a Manager I have to attend regular visits with Clients throughout the Newcastle area. Certain 11/8/2018 1:37 PM
times of the day there are no parks left I am currently parking two and a half kilometres from our
Office. I have received many parking infringements. Frustratingbecause there is no way to appeal
and receive an acceptable standard of review process.

59 They are working against it. 11/8/2018 12:41 PM

60 It was difficult as clientsdid not know how to gain access to our business. Access points were 11/8/2018 12:21 PM
constantly changing.

61 Our businessis on the corner of Scott Street and Market Street. The loss of street parking on 11/8/2018 12:03PM
Scott Street has had a detrimental effect on our business as it is now difficult for clients,
particularly elderly or infirm, to find parking to access our office. It is costing us time and money to
visit clients and some clients have simply been lost to our business due to parking issues.

62 No consideration has been made for local businesses in the planning of the roads. I have to collect 11/8/2018 11:59 AM
large boxes of flowers and there is no loading zones to allow me to park and take them into the
63 They had a mild impact on the business 11/8/2018 11:29 AM

64 No parking on the side of Hunter Street where our businessoperates. People are unable to stop 11/8/2018 11:23 AM
and purchase goods.

65 Against. Due to light rail and the narrowing of Scott St, my elderly clientsare unable to be dropped 11/8/2018 10:53 AM
off in front of the clinic. As there is now no parking alongScott St, clients have to park further away
and some elderly clients find it too far. And with supercars work happening now, we havelost
parking along Watt st as well. The constant changing of bus routes has impacted as well...clients
having further to walk as the stop at Customs House was moved

66 Parking is an issue for client meetings and impacts their business. Clients are frustratedand do 11/8/2018 10:51 AM
not enjoy coming into the city due to the difficulty of finding a park.

67 Clients come to the business and find it difficult to find parking. Clients with disabilities find it very 11/8/2018 10:49 AM
difficult to park as there is very small amount off accessible parking.

68 The footpaths have been recently cleared in front of Alliance Labour Solutions which has made 11/8/2018 10:15 AM
things easier for the employees here, however previous disruptionscreated much confusion for
employeesand customers. Changes to roads made it especially confusing for our customerswho
do not travel into the CBD very often. Public Transport did not effect anyone within the business
as far as I know.

69 Negative - as there is no parking for their clients. They have made complaints to council with no 11/8/2018 10:03AM
response - a lot of damage was done to the front of the building and has yet to be fixed.

70 Against the business as clients are unable to find parking 11/8/2018 9:36 AM

33 / 64

71 The changes makes it difficult for our clients to visit our business and they have to pay for parking. 11/8/2018 9:32 AM
Unfortunately clients are finding it difficult to find parking. Clients call and say the are running late
due to the lack of parking and then at limes get frustrated as they can't find one so they cancel
their appointment.

72 Definitely against. I used to have a disabled parking bay at the front of my building. My side of 11/8/2018 9:15 AM
Hunter Street no longer has parking. You cannot even stop to allow a disabled person to alight, or
be picked up. I act for a lot of elderly clients as a lawyer doing estate planning work.

73 Not good. 11/8/2018 12:00 AM

74 Public transport has great potential if light rail is extended so that there is mass parking at one of 11/7/2018 10:40 PM
the stops (Maybe the stadium). Until! then, hard to see it rducing congestion

75 It's harder to attract staff to work in the cbd when transport is still unreliable and parking which was 11/7/2018 9:54 PM
good at foreshore all day park now closed for Supercars for weeks.

76 Clients constantly late due to struggling to our business. Time limits make ii difficult to get a close 11/7/2018 9:08 PM
park to carry store to and from

77 Loss of one lane of traffic to light rail has created more congestion in adjacent streets. Loss of on 11/7/2018 4:48 PM
street parking on Hunter Street has diminished foot traffic and walk up business and is
discouraging my clients to travel to my business.

rail construction is complete I am hopeful that business will start to grow again.

83 The changes to public transport is not part of a broader plan, therefore its ineffective. The lack of 11/7/2018 11:25 AM
dedicated cycle paths is ridiculous

84 Makes access more difficult 11/7/2018 9:18 AM

85 No impact. 11/7/2018 8:44 AM

86 Have to use multiple modes of transport in a comparatively small city such is Newcastle is 11/7/2018 7:55 AM
inefficient and not necessary. In a place such as Sydney yes I get it, but they don't dump people at
the harbour bridge and say get on a tram to cross the bridge. The is what they are effectively
doing in Newcastle

87 PRDnationwide Newcastle & Lake Macquarie It makes it incredibly difficult for not only clients to 11/7/2018 6:30 AM
come to our office but also all of us employees. Especially when being a real estate agent, you
have to be driving around all day so you cannot park inside places like Bolton Street car park who
charge $30+ for parking in there for less than 8 hours. Parking on the street with paid parking then
costs upwards of $15+. This makes clients unable and sometimes unwilling to come to our office
and if difficult to get all our 50+ employees into the office for meetings, trainings etc.

But currently our customers have a hard time finding a park to see us and have had to do loops
with us running downstairs for them to sign a document. With the potential loss of more parking, I
dont see how I cancontinue to run my business and be compeittive when I have very little to offer
my clients to actually get to see us. Its extremelyconcerning and I dont see how any major big
business would be attractedto relocatetheir business to Newcastle given the current parking
situation - which frankly is not very far sighted of our council who should be actively asking and
offering incentives for Sydney and Melbourne based big business to come to a regional centre!
98 Against. No customers come to town anymore so I have to travel to them which means I don't 11/6/2018 1:37 PM

where my business is located. This means fewer available parks for my employees and, at least
50% of the time, zero parks availablefor my clients when visiting my premises. The proposed
Wickham Master Plan gives me zero confidence that this situation will ever improve
169 The beautification, upgrades & the new light rail service are all positive outcomesand the city is 11/3/2018 2:53 PM
starting to shine which is just fantastic. This all bodes well for the city and is exciting. But the
University Campuses should be made to build multi story car parking for both uni and visitor use
particular on the Wright Lane land...

170 Traffic works have really taken a toll on small business in cbd 11/3/2018 11:24 AM

171 Good. Just adapting. Willl Positively impact of employee, customer and feeling over time 11/3/2018 9:00 AM
172 Against- poor access with road blockagesand poor parking. Very difficult for patients and staff. 11/2/2018 7:41 PM
173 It was terrible during light rail construction. It is a little better, but clients reportnot wanting to come 11/2/2018 7:31 PM
to the city due to the parking issues and overall disruption.
174 Too early to tell, but loss of parkingmay change demographic and may require businesses to alter 11/2/2018 6:09 PM
concept to cater to needs of changing demographic.

175 These changes are disruptive and inconvenient for both our team and clients. Clients are reluctant 11/2/2018 5:35 PM
to come into the cbd and our employeesare finding it increasingly more difficult to find parking
during business hours. Public transportinto the CBD from out lying suburbs is infrequent if at all.
The travel timeson public transportare unrealistic for daily commuters as well with some trips
taking in excess of 1.5 hours on a bus as opposed to 15 mins in a private car.
176 Disorganised. Things change daily. Hopelessly organised. 11/2/2018 5:33 PM

37 I 64

177 Almost a 50% loss to the business this year. We are a boutique co-workingfacility in operation for 11/2/2018 5:31 PM
4 years. We have always operated at capacity, until this year. In the past 12 months we have lost
5 out of our 12 tenants. This loss is directly due to those tenants not being able to easily come into
the city. And, for the same reason, we have not been able to replace them with new tenants. Since
Hunter St re-opened, we have seen a few enquiries trickle in. We hope things are on the mend.
But, for those who have enquired recently, they are still asking where they can park - and we have
to be honest, the choices are slim. - in short, it has been a tough year. If this business was our
sole income, we would have been seriously concerned for it's future.
178 I'm not seeing a lot of change that is open in newcastle city, I am avoiding going into the city 11/2/20185:30 PM
unless necessary and then it's in and out.
179 Immediatevicinity Parking is a requirementof my business for both employeesand customers. 11/2/20185:09 PM

180 The order of works was wrong - public transport(train)and carparking was REMOVED first 11/2/2018 5:01 PM
BEFORE substitutes (better bus service, and light rail) were put in. There has been a gap of
several years during which driving private cars to the CBD has been problematic, but also public
transport has not been improved (in fact arguably worsened if you listen to the public feedback and
frustration about privatisation of the Newcastle bus service). I understand not everybody will be
able to drive to, and park in, the CBD, but if that's the case then the government has a
responsibility to provide effective public transport that's actually desirable, convenient, and easy to
use. (
181 Little impact as we have very few clients visit. 11/2/2018 4:40 PM

182 A little to early as roads and foot paths have not long opened the worst problem is the car race we 11/2/2018 4:02 PM
have to close for 3 days
183 Against, parking needs to be drastically addressed 11/2/2018 3:17 PM

184 At least the barriers are down and the new side walks wide and level but this is at the expense of 11/2/20182:10 PM
the parking which is critical
185 This has no affect on our business however we welcome the upgrades works. 11/2/2018 2:08 PM

186 Limiting numbers of people walking past and customers sometimes give up if they cant park 11/2/2018 2:06 PM
187 Very bad even with the race there is no parking in the EAST END. 11/2/2018 1:48 PM

188 We are fortunate to have our own car park, however we are constantly battling people who illegally 11/2/2018 12:50 PM
park on our site. Workers & people who attend other CBD businesses are always parking in
spaces that are for my own customers. We are having to install an expensive boom gate to stop
this from contimuing. We have also had a bus stop placed outside our front door. This has no
council garbage bin & as result leaves our business to have to clean up mess on the streets.

189 Directly impactedin Hunter Street between Darby and Crown Sis. No parking out the front of our 11/2/2018 11:06 AM
office anymore makes ii difficult and less appealing for customers to access our business

190 They are working for our business, people are more mobile and ii is now easier for them to get 11/2/2018 10:19 AM
191 Supercars and lightrail construction has definitely hindered access to roads and footpaths. 11/2/2018 9:48 AM
192 Public transport is insufficient. Eventually there will be nowhere to park and there will be no 11/2/2018 9:32 AM
adequate transport to get me to work as an alternative.
193 not affecting business but staff 11/2/2018 7:52 AM

194 The fact that over the past 12 months these elements have 'changed' on a daily basis has been 11/2/2018 2:31 AM
detrimental to my business. One day a car park is 8hr the next it's 2hr with no warning. The loss of
car parks & closure of roads has resulted in guests not being able to access our area resulting in
booking cancelations. The moving of pedestrian crossings has been confusing to the public, they
now cross at both old & new crossings making the whole road a hazardous place. The removal of
a LOT of car parks has made parking difficult for both customers & staff. The constant change of
bus routes has made accessing the area difficult also. One day a bus goes west on wharf road,
the next it does not.
195 totally against!!! 11/1/2018 10:57 PM

196 It is hard to get over to Honeysuckle sometimes and around when there is constant changes made 11/1/20 18 6:44 PM
to roads and footpaths adding more travel time.

38 / 64

197 I like the way Hunter Street is looking. It will make me more likely to go shopping/eating along that 11/1/2018 5:49 PM
street and beyond.

198 Clients struggle to find parking for meetings at our office. 11/1/2018 5:04 PM
199 All good for now 11/1/2018 4:29 PM
200 It does make it hard to get here 11/1/2018 4:16 PM
201 Parking is my only concern due to it effects and will continue to effect my business 11/1/2018 4:16 PM
202 They have no bearing - we are not a walk in customer base, we are a corporate office 11/1/2018 4:13 PM
203 The over populated area makes it inaccessible for leisurely experiences within the CBD 11/1/2018 4:09 PM
204 Footpaths and the changes from the light rail have been managed ok 11/1/2018 4:00 PM
205 Terrible, I am disabled so getting around Newcastle on foot or using public transport is difficult 11/1/2018 3:47 PM

( 209 making a nightmare to get in and out of honeysuckle at least15 to 20 min to travel 1km 11/1/2018 3:05 PM

210 I am speaking personally and believe insufficient 8hr parking is available for staff. 11/1/2018 2:41 PM
211 I don't own the business I just story after story stating how horrible they have been treated. as 11/1/2018 2:28 PM
well as how hard and expensive parking is.
212 The situation in Newcastle is appalling. Road closures every day, traffic stuck in every direction, 11/1/2018 2:26 PM
congestion becoming a big issue, no where to park and no public transport to get around.
213 Not helpful as traffic is hectic 11/1/2018 2:25 PM
214 na 11/1/2018 2:24 PM
215 Waiting on the light rail to begin.before we can see the full affects of public transport. Roads are 11/1/2018 1:25 PM
good due to the re-development for last years supercars.

216 There is a lot more traffic along honeysuckle dr, withless and less parking, which impacts safety 11/1/2018 1:21 PM
of staff, so the changes are not very positive other than they look pretty
217 Patients are running late as they find it difficult getting a park and traffic delays. If they are too late 11/1/2018 1:17 PM
we need to reschedule so lose business. Everyone from Hunter St is using the car park at
Honeysucklebecause there is more access from Hunter St now and they have lost parks.
218 My husbandand I have 2 businesses and we sub-let each - I actually moved my businesstotally 11/1/2018 1:17 PM
on-line because the parking in the CBD is ridiculous. Hate how much parking is disappearing.

219 They may prevent people from coming in to register with our company. 11/1/2018 11:51 AM
220 Expanded footpaths have taken road side car parks away. Road being opened have improved 11/1/2018 11:49 AM
traffic congestion on Honeysuckle Drive. No change with public transport until the light rail starts.
221 Against our business. We were close to Newcastle rail station, right on a bus stop both coming 11/1/2018 11:42 AM
into town and going out and we had parking out the front
222 Good feel, but limited options to move from one part of the CBD to another. 11/1/2018 11:38 AM
223 Think its hard for clients to get in to see us 11/1/2018 11:16 AM
224 The lack of parking in the CBD takes away the options for staff to choose how they travel to work. 11/1/2018 11:08 AM
This makes it difficult for people with children if they need pick their kids up or need to leave
urgently to have their car available. Some staff have no option to use public transport based on
locationand need to arrive hours before their start time to ensure they secure a park. I also have
staff who work until 8pm so when they have to park a distance from work or catch public transport,
is a safety concern in the winter months.
225 Footpaths currently narrower on Honeysuckle. Difficult to navigate with bikes, scooters, roller 11/1/20 18 10:53 AM
skatersand skateboarders.

226 Still waiting for the light rail to operate before I can comment whether it has been a worth while 11/1/2018 10:46AM
benefit to the business, or a disaster..

227 It is increasingly difficult for clients to get to our office and meet with us 11/1/2018 10:36 AM

228 Patients fail to keep appointments because of bottlenecks and disruption from light rail and 11/1/2018 10:31 AM
Supercars. Patients cannot find a parking spot and complain of driving around for up to 30
minutes. Many patients have left the practice reluctantly; one family of three generations!

many but also challengesthose who for whatever reason need to operate private vehicle i.e.
children, disabliity, access and convenience etc.

233 Need more cycle infrastructure 11/1/2018 8:20 AM

234 Difficult for patients to access our practice Some have left to suburban practices even though 11/1/2018 8:14 AM

235 All the disruption and lack of planninghas made it impossible for my business to survive as a retail 10/31/2018 10:56 PM
store. We have had to service our clients by visitingthem. Also a huge issue for us is the workers
from all the development taking what little parking there is.

236 I am no longer able to park at work and have to walk or ride in 10/31/201810:10 PM

237 customers are refusing to come anywhere into Newcastle. Havea lookat the comments on the 10/31/20185:03 PM

wants to come here despite my efforts
238 Every piece of development over the last 12 months has negatively impacted our business.Light 10/31/2018 4:42 PM
Rail, David Jones, V8 Supercars and Honey Suckle have all impacted and createdmore and more
headaches for my business. Most currentcar parks in the CBD are currently taken up by
employees that work in the CBD and by 8 am most days there are none left for people to park. I
regularly have people turn up late for appointments or not show at all after they have not been able
to get a car park with in walking distance " I deal with injured people that have trouble walking long
239 It has reducedour foot traffic by over 30% and retail sales are down 20-25% since September 10/31/2018 4:36 PM
2017. And it's getting worse.
240 It's harder for clients to come in and see us, they are deterred by the traffic and lack of parking. It 10/31/2018 4:30 PM
is also ridiculously expensive for staff to park in here and there is not enough free parking spaces
around the CBD
241 It's making it hard for people to get in here and find parking. 10/31/2018 4:29 PM

242 Testing times for clients and staff 10/31/2018 4:15 PM

243 It is difficult for our clients to find parking and access our business 10/31/2018 4:00 PM

244 Access to the business is still difficult given that roads and footpaths have been opened and then 10/31/2018 3:58 PM
shut and paving is not completed
245 Footpaths will be ok when finished and foot traffichas increased 10/31/2018 3:55 PM

246 We are relying on customers who are also local residents to get to us by foot considering the lack 10/31/2018 3:49 PM
of parking in the area.
247 Not enough aduquate parking and he stupidly high price for customers to come in and park is 10/31/2018 3:39 PM
deplorable. If your just 5 minutes over your time you get booked. rediculous.

248 Discourages clients from visiting the office. 10/31/2018 3:34 PM

250 No affecte 10/31/2018 3:02 PM

251 the park and ride service from the broadmeadow stadium works in my favour as it allows me to 10/31/2018 3:02 PM
have a mode of transportationinto the CBD

252 Currently not to bad - although concerned about proposed changes to road in Hunter St Mall 10/31/2018 2:57 PM

253 Against, no delivery area. No customer carparks 10/31/2018 2:56 PM

254 Negligible effect as we do not rely on foot traffic 10/31/20182:53 PM

255 It can be very difficult to navigate around the roadworks and development, both on foot and in the 10/31/2018 2:49 PM
car. Car parking is changing and getting much harder to find. I have to walk quite a distance from
the office and this adds more time to the beginning and the end of the day, not ideal when I have to
get homefor the kids

258 Visitor numbers are down for both general visitation and events. Feedback particularly from locals 10/31/2018 1:02 PM
including those from inner city suburbs such as Mayfield, TighesHill, Maryville and Islington, has
been that due to difficulties parking they don't come into the city and avoided since Supercars
works started followed by light rial works.
259 They are working against as the infrastructure has removedseveral available longerterm parking 10/31/2018 12:54 PM
spots, whilst Introduction of trams is not functional when you are required to visit clients
( 260 It is difficult for our engineers to attend our customers offices for site visits that sometimescannot 10/31/2018 12:51 PM
be scheduled. We do promote our staff to park at King Edward Park, however, to even have
access to a decent parking space you have to get to the office before the tradies i.e 6:30 AM.
261 Against- As there is constructions everywhere our elderly patients refuse to come into the clinic in 10/31/2018 12:40 PM
fear of unsafe entry.

262 staff pay high parking fees, customers stay away because of parking fees, conferencesare cut 10/31/2018 12:30 PM

265 I know many ppl that won't visit the city (friends and customers) due to the chaos 10/31/2018 11:43 AM
266 Bus stops in King St have removed parking close to our business. 10/31/2018 11:27 AM
267 Bus Stops put in front of our business on King st is a problem. 10/31/2018 11:22 AM
268 The constant roadworks is keeping people out of the city which is bad for our business but the 10/31/2018 11:14 AM
changes don't effect us too much.

269 nil changes 10/31/2018 11:04 AM

270 Changes have been confusing and frustrating for our patients. Temporary bus stops in front of our 10/31/2018 10:46 AM
building have been terrible, people smoking and sitting on our front step.

271 Light rail will hopefully help with traffic flow 10/31/2018 10:34 AM
272 Not enough parksin the city allocatedfor motorcycles. Have a work car that travels between two 10/31/2018 10:29 AM
sites and it is very difficult to find short termcar parks.

273 Personally I can' can't catch the bus to work anymore since they changed the bus routes/timetable 10/30/2018 3:44 PM
earlier in the year. I am lucky to have a private, shared business car park I can park in, not so
good for customers though...
274 Wider footpaths are appreciated for walking down Hunter St but roads need a lot more parking to 10/30/2018 2:42 PM
accommodate visitors. Also since public transport schedules have changed, customers are finding
it more difficult to make it into office as they haveset appointments.

275 navigatingaround the city is difficult with a lack of right turns making access to king street a 10/30/2018 2:42 PM
problem when you need to go around the block because of parking shortage
276 Our work is losinglots of people who cant be bothered trying to get to work anymore 10/29/2018 4:34 PM
277 When clients and colleaguesvisit our business they struggle to find parking. 10/29/2018 4:11 PM
278 The footpaths are terrible. They are unsafe and make access for people with disabilities or mobility 10/29/2018 3:42 PM
problemsreally difficult.

Q11 We want to hear your ideas for how to improveparking and access
for city businesses. Is there an innovative or creative idea you would
support, including examples of what's worked well in other cities?
Answe red: 262 Skipped: 84

Mo re parking along waterfront and near old railway station. 11/22/2018 5:22 PM

2 Remove all metered parking in the residential streets. Providing more parking will attract people to 11/20/2018 4:39 PM
coming into town instead of avoiding it. Or if you are going to have businesses in the city then
create working stations for the businesses.

3 Cheaper car parking. More designated workers car parking. Apply for a working permit, like a 11/19/2018 6:45 AM
disability car park permit, to allow cheaper or discount parking in private car parks.
11/18/2018 10:03 PM
4 At very least there is a crying need for expansion of parking stations rather than closure...both
adjacent to the Wickham terminus & at the East end.The proposed latest Uon building (with no
provision for parking) will be the final straw.

5 I'd like a business and employee parking maybe allocated for us business workers. As I currently 11/18/2018 9:23 PM
have to pay $15 a day for parking and I'm not always guaranteed parking unless I get to work
early. Or I have to park kilometres away from work and walk.

6 An express bus service along the Hunter freeway from Cessnock that runs down the link Rd and 11/18/2018 7:00 PM
up Newcastle Rd into the CBD. There are no bus services that accomoda te Cameron park
Residents that are direct to the CBD and take less than a 1.5-2hour journey. We simply must drive
which is silly considering how close we are to the CBD. The park and ride bus from the stadium
finishes at 6:30pm which leaves a lot of workers who finish outside of these hours with no options
but to drive. And express service that starts at no later than 6am and finishes later than 6:30
would be a simple effective and lucrative solution.

7 Educate about car pooling Improve the bus network... way too infre quent Open more parking to 11/18/2018 6:57 PM
replace those now unavailable

8 We need some drastic changes to traffic regulation and Parking in the area of the new Harris 11/18/2018 6:17 PM
Farm. Lights. pedestrian crossing, roundabout, more off street parking!!!!

9 Either multi story or underground parking needs to be built near the area for people to obtain easy 11/18/20 18 12:25 PM
parking. Maybe free multi story parking at eye MarketTown Carpark. There is little (and future nil
Parkin) at the Rail inter hange for people to park and get the tram. l
10 All these buildings go up but not once has a parking lot been built. 11/18/2018 11:47 AM

11 There is literally no acces to parking ! ! Park and ride would be a great option - the current one at 11/18/20 18 10:22 AM
the stadium is already full.

12 Upgrade ferry services - more stops, regular runs between inner city suburbs. Build high rise 11/18/2018 10:10 AM
parking. Stop allowing organisations e.g. Uni, to add new buildings without adequate provision for

13 yes, Angle parking, provide more street parking, by allowing what remains of rail corridor for angle 11/18/20 18 9:56 AM
parking and provide a safe bike track and pedestian walkway.with lawns/gardensetc.Consider a
new parking station at Civic so at Cnr national park & parry streets, undergroundwith
above community facilities, good for park & ride -public transport via tram, bus.rail.

Need another multi level car park station built 11/18/20 18 9:22 AM
15 Apart from sacking the council for their disgraceful decisions and complete arrogance. As a labor 11/18/2018 8:10 AM
voter all my life I'm so disappointed in this current council. In fact Ms Nelmes is in bed with the
liberals and labor should sack her from the party!

16 Put the Rail line back or relocate the trams to the old corridor. 11/17/2018 7:30 PM

42 I 64

17 I have purchased a motor scooterspecifically because I was so over trying to get a car parking 11/17/20185:30 PM
space in the CBD. I would on average enter the CBD twice a day. Perhaps the CBD can become
'scooter friendly'. Perhaps more motor cycle only parking ? I currently park wherever the scooter
fits, ensuring no inconvenience to others, however I am sure that often my parking locations are
technically illegal.

18 provide adequate car parking stations to link public transportinto town 11/17/2018 3:00 PM

19 Make developerscut profit by providing adequate parking for new developments. 11/17/2018 2:55 PM

20 Build some car parks! Simples! You have to ask? Grrr. 11/17/2018 12:06 PM

21 Germany has significant car parking undergroundwith direct access to city/town centres. This has 11/17/2018 11:05 AM
been planned knowing how many people would be using the centre not creating numerous units,
some with no car space and therefore clogging the town with cars and no facilities for visitors. A
well managed park and ride facility is also essential.

22 Look at areas where parking can be created to assist customers and businesses 11/17/2018 10:30 AM

23 I think another park and ride station on industrial highway opposite Wests would be very helpful for 11/17/2018 9:51 AM
people coming in from that side

24 Free inner city buses like Perth 11/17/2018 9:42 AM

25 Build parking stations 11/17/2018 8:16 AM

26 A coordinated approach to traffic managements and parking had been lacking. With light rail 11/14/20184:37 PM
upgrades, supercars infrastructure and road changes, development of Honeysuckleand
construction everywhere there are days when one can be diverted or detoured 5 times. Then
there is also nowheerto park. BUT there has been no shortage of merciless parking officers to
book you if you are 5 mins late after the long walk back to your car where you were lucky enough
to find a space!

27 Businesses should be able to validate parking, this would encouragepeople, why pay for parking 11/13/2018 9:48 PM
in town to shop or eat when there are other places to go with no parking fees.

28 Genuinely encouragecycling by creating safe and accessible bike lanes and more bike racks - this 11/12/2018 5:21 PM
will reduce the number of cars in the CBD, and positively impact the city in so many ways. As
someone who prefer to cycle rather than drive I find it absolutely devastating for the city that cycle
tracks were not part of the design of the light rail. It is nowmore difficult and more dangerous to
cycle in the CBD and the light rail isn't even in action yet. Free parking for 2 hours in all council car
parks is you spend over a certain amount of money at an in der city business. Businessescan give
the validatedparking card to customers by request.

29 New developmentsneed to add parking, not reduce it. Like a carbon offset style scheme. If the 11/12/2018 2:22 PM
development is increasing congestion a strategy for adequate parking should be required.

30 Open public car parks for longer hours. Provision for more spaces. Recognise transition issues eg 11/12/2018 11:49 AM
before light rail commences, need to be more flexible

31 Speci fic multi level car parking is required on the west end of Newcastle. 11/12/2018 11:33 AM

32 More bus routes that don't go all over the place, that are more direct. As I said above it will take a 11/12/2018 6:08 AM
while for people to catch on but once they do it will make life easier. Also stop taking away the
parking facilities.

33 Build more parking stations, parking lots 11/11/2018 9:11 PM

34 Need free parking and more parking for customers and people 11/11/2018 7:11 PM

35 more loadn
i g zones 11/11/20 1 8 5:28 PM

36 Need multi storey parking 11/11/20 18 5:21 PM

37 Stop removing parking spaces. All new places need to have enough parking for ALL who use it, 11/11/2018 2:18 AM
such as the Uni.

38 more light rail more parking stations 11/10/20 18 4:26 PM

39 I never have trouble finding parking during the day when restrictions turn spaces over. After 5pm, 11/10/2018 1:09 PM
the city is being parked out by residents which is stopping customers from getting a park.

40 Car parks work well in other cities. 11/10/20 18 7:56 AM

43 I 64

41 More parking in general is required in some way. With so many car parks lost it's become so 11/9/2018 2:38 PM
difficult for employees and clients to even get in to the city. Instead of taking out the massive car
parks and parking stations, more NEED to be put back in, even if it's down at the interchange
where people will (eventually) then be able to access the tram. Even taking the tram line further
out to Hamilton/Broadmeadow/Merewether etc would be smart so people can park in outer
suburbs and catch the public transport in. The Park and Ride service should also continue, it's
incredible and a lifesaver.

42 Get rid of meter parking 11/9/201810:10AM

43 Bring more cheaper (or free!) full day parking available for employees. Maybe have it that they 11/9/2018 9:29 AM
have to prove they are an employee and stay there a minimum number of hours per day, to qualify
for that free parking, - but how on earth otherwise do we keep employees in our city businesses.
No one wants to work here because it is such a disaster. The Park and ride system from the
stadium is useless when you are coming from somewhere like Belmont or Redhead, Swansea,
Caves beach, or even out Cessnock way etc the time you get to the stadium and park your
car and then have to wait for a bus, it can turn your 30-40 min trip, or 1 hour trip into 1.5 hours?
Who's got time to leave home at 7am to start at 8:30? And if employees can't park in town, they
won't work in town, then how do we keep our businesses running? Where is someone from
Belmont supposed to park their car to catch the light rail 2 stops? Nowhere?? Rule Number 1; look
after the business people and their employees to keep the businesses open & operating. If the
businesses are open and there is street parking for the customers they will come & the city will (
thrive again.

44 Yes. Create a massive parking station at Broadmeadow for 3000 spaces and offer 2 minute 11/9/2018 7:57 AM
shuttles into the cbd. I live in merewether and it takes 90 minutes to catch the bus into work. It
takes me 7 minutes to drive and walk 5-10 minutes to my workplace. I'm also a full time uni student
and use the cbd campus .

45 Get rid of the arrogance. Not everyone is in a position to catch public transport ... And it sucks 11/9/2018 6:54 AM

46 Stop building apartments, university buildings and other buildings with no parking! Provide free car 11/8/2018 10:55 PM
parking for workers so they don't park in residential streets causing problems there. At the
moment, construction workers at Honeysuckle are blocking street parking throughout west

47 Additional parking around Civic. 11/8/2018 9:34 PM

48 Parking station near Hunter Water at Honeysuckle 11/8/2018 9:19 PM

49 Build more parking stations. In Japan they use undergroundparking slackers and you punch your 11/8/2018 4:31 PM
key in to access your car.

50 The railway is open for traffic to drive on from the station to Scott Street and is only one lane. Why 11/8/2018 3:12 PM
can't the light rail tracks be opened and used by cars.

51 Has to be a plan for more parking stations and facilities as Newcastle people will not visit unless 11/8/2018 3:01 PM
they are able to drive to the city.

52 More bike lanes in the city 11/8/2018 2:48 PM

53 Personally speaking, information on secure parking available during non-standard business hours 11/8/20 18 2:16 PM
would be extremely helpful. Since our business is a retail establishment that is open from morning
to post-8pm some nights, it is hard to find somewhere to park securely early in the daythat remains
open until that time.

54 Developments should be made to include allocations for parking. The notion that university 11/8/20 18 1:58 PM
students dont have cars in ridiculous. Newcastle City Council needs to invest in parking stations to
support Newcastl e Businesses.

55 Parking Station 11/8/2018 1:49 PM

56 Stipulate that developers are to provide adequate parking for all units sold relative to the number of 11/8/2018 1:37 PM
bedrooms in each unit. Use the model that Newcastle Council have used when building their new
Council Chambers.

57 We need a draw card to get people back into town. 11/8/2018 12:41 PM

58 No ideas 11/8/2018 12:21 PM

44 I 64

59 Given the current situation and the lack of parking in the CBD, a free shuttle service from parking 11/8/2018 12:03 PM
areas surrounding the CBD would be beneficial.
60 Build a parking station 11/8/2018 11:59 AM
61 More parking stations 11/8/2018 11:29 AM
62 No ideas 11/8/201811:23 AM
63 in our situation we have elderly clients so for some park and ride options are not viable. Having to 11/8/2018 10:53 AM
get off the train at Wickham and then get on the light rail can be difficult as well.Elderly people are
not as mobile. It was much easier when they could stay on the train and get off at Newcastle
station. Not sure how this can be improved.

64 No answer 11/8/201810:51 AM
65 Needs to be more parking stations built that are affordable. 11/8/2018 10:49 AM
66 Utilize old railway passage for parking. For those who park on a daily/weekly basis, offer a 11/8/2018 10:15 AM
weekly/monthly pass at a reduced price. Updae t some parking spaces with a O - 2 hour time limit
to longer periods of time.

67 No ideas 11/8/2018 9:36 AM

( 68 Build car parking stations with reasonable prices as everyone that comes and visits our business 11/8/2018 9:32 AM
is employed and looking for work and low income earners.

69 I think it is too far gone. It has been stuffed by the muppets from Sydney who think their ideas for 11/8/2018 9:15 AM
Sydney CBD are what will work in Newcaslte. I think the Light Rail will actually kill that part of
Hunter Street that it traverses, and that patronage on the service will be low. A white elephant!

70 Just do something about parking. Maybe council should have planned parking better before 11/8/2018 12:00 AM
making passing so many developments.

71 Extend light rail to a free parking area 11/7/2018 10:40 PM

72 We used to use Bolton St but were forced out when Keolis Downer took lots of space to 11/7/2018 9:54 PM
accommodate residents while Hunter/Scott Sis were closed. Need more all day parking for
business owners and workers.

73 I personally would use a parking tower althoughI'm sure it's not economicallyviable to pop one in, 11/7/2018 9:08 PM
I would love to just catch a train in but I'm always picking stuff up that is needed and the trains
don't run at close enough intervals. A single parking permit per business to park in a 2 hour spot
all day within close proximity to the business would be nice.

74 Change all parking zones marked 1,2 and 4 hours to 8 hours and encourage people to travel via 11/7/2018 5:37 PM
light rail to do business in the CBD. Allotting parking permits for business owners and residents
should be a priority. To reduce the impacton profits for council revenue raising through parking, a
minimal increase in parking fees could be used on the 8 hour metered parking spaces. Ultimately,
free parking in the CBD would be preferabe l.

75 Old heavy rail corridor not presently being used for light rail (Worth Place area) should be 11/7/2018 4:48 PM
converted to parking bays for the short to medium term until this area is further developed.

76 Provide more parking. Stop building unit blocks without suitable infrastructure& parking. 11/7/2018 3:02 PM
77 free Resident and Business parking is CRUCIAL 11/7/2018 2:59 PM

78 Well maybe before you built a tram track, you should've thought about where people will park. Our 11/7/2018 2:37 PM
clients literally have nowhere to park except the 30 minute only parking out the front that consists
of only 6 or 7 parking spaces.

79 forget about creating more light rail and instead put in place high speed, frequent and cheaper bus 11/7/2018 1:33 PM
serves. Curitiva, Brazil.

80 Offer free CBD parking 11/7/2018 12:21 PM

81 Dedicated cycleways and covered arbours, to negate the heat sink. Look at Brisbane! 11/7/2018 11:25 AM

82 Provide more paid parking. 11/7/2018 8:44 AM

83 New developments must address parking NO EXCEPTIONS.a new major carpark in the 11/7/2018 7:55 AM
honeysuckleprecinctwould be advantageous

84 Get rid of the paid parking or make more free and accessible parkingspots around town. 11/7/2018 6:30 AM

45 I 64

85 Dedicated day long parking station near light rail 11/6/201811:45 PM

86 Why are big government businesseslocated in inner city Newcastle when they do not have 11/6/2018 10:35 PM
interaction with the public? Why aren't these honeysuckle departments moved out to the suburbs?
This would free up some of the traffic. You moved Newcastle courthousefrom being right near a
multilevel car park to a place that has no long term parking for people that have jury duty etc. You
go to Sydney or whereverand there are lots of multi level car parking around. Newcastle you are
demolishing them. All the new residential properties and rental has 1 car space or none!!!! I have
been looking with my daughter to have her move from around Darbystreet where she doesnot
have residential parking spaces and there are so many new units with NO parking. Where are
these people supposedto park there car? Newcaslte is not a big enough city that you don't need a
car to live (like New York). People need to be able to park their car. As she cannot afford to pay for
rent alone there will then be more than just her renting and will be needing more car spaces !!!
Newcastle and Australia has land - use it. An example also is the expansion of Lindguard Hospital.
Expanding in size with only a few extra car spaces added. You may say well there is more than
what they have now, BUT you have to take into consideraiton they have already closed one
doctors car parking to the previousexpansion and the doctors now park in the only car park
available so NO there is no real extra car parks. Stop making the innercity so congested with such
large building that do not have adequate parking. Every residential should have 2 car parks. Plus
extra for family and friends to park. You will be isolatingpeople who live in there as they will not
have people come to visit because of the parking. Plus the restaurants must be missing out on so (
much business. Why go there when you can go to other restaurantsoutside inner city and find a
park. Such a shame that I will not be utilizing the foreshore.

87 Reduce or removeall day street parking - free up space for casual parking. All day park should 11/6/2018 6:16 PM
only be allowed in parking stations. Commuters should catch public transport
88 Simple.Moremulti story car parks with at least one hour free parking. 11/6/20184:14 PM
89 Not as expensive a hundred dollars a forghtnight is alot out of out budget 11/6/2018 2:20 PM

90 I wish I had something to offer other than common sense parking availability. Its boring but apt. 11/6/2018 2:14 PM

91 It is stuffedbeyond repair. I hope the council are happy selling off the corridors 11/6/20181:37 PM

92 Stop demolishni g parking and put others back in 11/6/2018 1:23 PM

93 Some form of respite for residents. Especially shift workers. We need to sleep. The parking 11/6/2018 12:36 PM
gestapo haunts us all who are not in suits working 9-5. How about building council car parks for
residents. Priced like the precinct permits. My only local option is over $300 per month and space
is limited.
94 No. Just get people on to public transport.Works elsewhere! 11/6/2018 12:05 PM

95 It's not rocket science. You need car parks. 95% if the population uses, and must use cars for 11/6/2018 11:48 AM
96 Free parking to bring people into Newcaslte 11/6/2018 11:13 AM

97 Make all parking free and more readily available get rid of the timed parking and stop taking away 11/6/2018 11:08 AM
parking stations to build apartment buildings.

98 It seems a little late to be asking for ideas after your client has alreadyremoved the majority of the 11/6/2018 11:07 AM
parking? Maybe major developmentsshould be approved only if they comply with having a certain
number of additional car parks that could be managed by a commercial parkingoperator similar to
Sydney and Melbourneetc. If Newcastle want people to actually use the light rail there needs to
be infrastructure for people to park at the interchange and then minimal cost to actually then use
the rail.
99 Need more all day parking allocated 11/6/2018 11:06 AM

100 Public car park at the Interchange. High frequency small buses and light rail 11/6/2018 11;05 AM

101 When the Tram finally runs free to employeesof Newcastle business t◊- u se ......Fre e h op on hop af 11/6/2018 10:38 AM
buses... Cheaper parking, the council must have its own and Ire parking for.3 hrs
102 For every new development built, there should be a set number of car parks provided within that 11/6/2 018 8:29 AM
development to accommodate the residents and workers within that building. Or, they could put in
a multi story car park close to honeysuckle.
103 Needs to be a giant car park along light rail line area 11/6/2018 8:19 AM

46 / 64

104 A parking station near the beginning of the light rail would make sense. Otherwise its a complete 11/6/2018 7:35 AM
waste. On footpath motorcycle parking would also be a great step towards city accessibility.

105 We need large free parking stations near train stations to encourage people to utilise - ie Cardiff, 11/6/2018 5:53 AM
Waratah, Sandgate, Glendale, Broadmeadow and Wickham yo encourage people to use the tram

106 Dedicated Bike Lanes More parking;-) 11/6/2018 12:33 AM

107 Free and frequent mini bus shuttle, which does the rounds of the major parking spots (especially 11/5/2018 11:32 PM
uphill like Church St) to encourage people to park on the fringe but still easily access any
businesses. I.e. You can't find an easy or convenient park but another exists a few blocks away so
you park there because you know the shuttle will arrive soon.

108 Paris: metro London: buses and rail BKK: railPblic transport, excellent, reliable ,convenient and 11/5/2018 11:09 PM
clean public transport works. Sadly we don't have that and are unlikely to have all that. 2.7klms of
light rail going up and down rather than looping is just ridiculous

109 1. First 20 mins free parking on street in CBD. 2. Loads of Parking at the interchangeso people 11/5/2018 10:48 PM
cancome in by light rail ( two hours Free per day) 3. Parking stations in CBD run like Kotara
shopping centre - free to park for 1.5- 2 hours.

110 you shouldhave thought about parking before you went ahead and aproved all the developments. 11/5/2018 9:24 PM
No good trying to botch things up now
( 111 More parking stations, more 4 hour parking zones. Couldn't get a park near training venue and 11/5/2018 8:36 PM
had to walk 15mins.

112 Get some parking! 11/5/2018 8:22 PM

113 Accessible, low or free parking provisions for CBD and prominent 'retail' area workers & staff- 11/5/2018 8:20 PM
perhaps similar to the current resident parking pennits, for inner city business owners/operators
and or employees. Abolishing the CBD exclusion zone for resident parking permits.

114 Provide more parking. Don't allow business in the city without sufficient parking. 11/5/20187:22 PM

115 A decent public system 11/5/2018 7:19 PM

116 car parking. 11/5/2018 7:02 PM

117 It is imperativeto have a public Carpark available in close proximity to the NewcastleInterchange 11/5/2018 6:49 PM

118 I thought the soon to be redundant council chambers and adjoining building promoted an excellent 11/5/2018 6:48 PM
space to erect a large, low cost, and tasteful parking station, central to UON, and equidistant to
Newcastle West and Newcastle East precincts. This will hopefully be complimented by another
large parking station adjacent to the transport interchange. Thought should also be given to
turning the Wallsend CBD precinct into a satellite city with high rise office space development.

119 More parking and cheaper parking. More carpooling options, better public transport 11/5/2018 4:18 PM

120 Paid parking is far too expensive. Why would people come into the city to pay so much for parking 11/5/2018 3:37 PM
to shop when they can go to kotara or Charlestown. People cannot be bothered coming in, unable
to park anywhere near where they want to go.

121 Public transport needs to be cheaper and quicker than using a car for people to use it as it is in 11/5/2018 2:57 PM
most capital cities. Better public transport options from all those suburbs not serviced by a train. It
would take me 3 buses and one hour to catch public transport to work so i drive then walk 15
minutes from the closest free parking spot. Not ideal

122 2 hour max limit along foreshore drive to prevent business commuters taking local tourists free 11/5/2018 1:56 PM
beach parking

123 Convert a vacate building into a parking station 11/5/2018 1:45 PM

124 there should be more parking stations and they should be cheaper, or allow you to buy an annual 11/5/2018 1:23 PM
pass. I am unable to park in 2hr parking zones near our work as I need all day parking however
there is minimal all day parking available. have to walk 10-15 mins to park most days. this is
unsuitable and unsafe in winter.

125 11/5/2018 1:07 PM

47 I 64

126 Have local business parking permits (similar to residential parking permits). A set number of 11/5/2018 11:41 AM
permits per business that allows them to park for 8 hours instead of 2hours near their office. Also
to remove the 'twice parked' parking infringement so that if staff do move their car during the day
and park on the same street but different bay they aren't fined.

127 Less negativity 11/5/2018 11:14 AM

128 1. Any new infrastructure must dig to build adequate multi level carparks for their employees 1st. 2. 11/5/2018 11:04 AM
Park & ride options need to be more accessible for residents & workers who don't live near the
stadium. 3. Car parking needs to be improved near train stations so people can get on the trains in
order to get on the light rail. 4. A cycle safe city needs to be addressed- limited bike access on
footpaths & lack of bike lanes ie memorial drive, darby st, king st needs to change so we steer
away from cars. Perhaps those that do commute via bike or.even car pool receive a subsidy for
taking the effort. Even a potential grant to inner city workers to purchase E-bikes as in europe has
really taken off so people can buy a E bike without the cost currently involved. 5. Potential
government sponsored rickshaw operations as a tourist exploration around newcastle or even to .
be used as a work commute option from newcastle's west to east.

129 Free public transport has been the best option so far in cities where parking spaces are a luxury 11/5/2018 10:08 AM
and the city wants to discourage cars in the CBD.
130 Stating obvious, we need more parking... Eg Underground Civic Park like Domain in Sydney? 11/5/2018 10:01 AM
131 As an employee who regularly parks at the southern end of Darby Street and either walks to Cnr 11/5/2018 9:58 AM
Darby and Tyrrell Streets I am concerned by the reports that what little free all day parking is
available is going to be reduced, an extension of the free bus from Bull St to Parkway avenue
would certainly help as there are a lot of other people doing the same as me. Parkway avenue has
a wide centre nature strip which could easily be reduced in size and a large amount of free all day
parking (similar to the angled parking in Dawson St) could be provided to then meet up with the 14
bus which travels along Darby Street.

132 I think more consideration could have been given to staggering the large number of developments 11/5/2018 9:48 AM
being undertaken so that the effects on parking and businesses may have been reduced.
133 There is a lot of 2 hour parking around the backstreets near Darby Street. I strongly believe this 11/5/2018 9:45 AM
should all be amended to all day parking.
134 Adding more parking lots closer by, walking distance to King and Hunter Streets. Reducing on 11/5/2018 9:39 AM
street parking costs, or allowing longer parking times on the street.
135 11/5/2018 9:34 AM
Car park owned by council $5.00 day fee proof of employment for pass to be renewed every 6
provide short stay car parking in the main street similar to Tamworth or Lismore 11/5/2018 9:17 AM
Bring more parking in - I live near public transport but it does not fit my requirements for getting 11/5/2018 9:15 AM
kids to care etc. Before kids I happily caught public transport -it is not possible now with daycare
and school pickups
Build more parking, spend less on parking inspectors to punish the people who have to park wtih 11/5/2018 9:12 AM
no parking.
Free parking at Wright Lane car park on weekends. 11/5/20 18 9:06 AM
There just needs to be more of it its as simple as that 11/5/2018 9:06 AM
less metered parking. or instead of parking at 2 hour maximum - extend it to 5 hours 11/5/2018 8:57 AM
Be helpful to provide some more full day parking not 2hr limits. Possibly a business pass for 11/5/2018 8:46 AM
cheaper rates for the day as parking prices add a lot of expense. Also some streets or footpaths
143 smoothed over for easier Skateboard or bike riding. It's a rough ride in.

144 build more parking stations Wilsons?? have earlybird rates 11/5/2018 8:43 AM

Free parking in parking stations in town for employees of CBD businesses, free travel on Park & 11/5/2018 8:42 AM
145 Ride or the Light Rail (when it is up and running) for employees of CBD businesses

Add a large car park that has FREE PARKING instead trying to make every1hing a cash grab. 11/5/2018 8:42 AM
146 Newcastle is a great city, don't ruin it by making it to Sydney like

I'm a musician and many venues in sydney now have nighttime loading/musician zones so we are 11/5/2018 8:32 AM
able to load our gear into a venue

48 I 64

147 Add more un- timed parking spaces as well as reduce the cost of Public Transport and frequency 11/5/2018 8:27 AM

148 Make more 8P parking zones. The supercars is massively impacting us as it removes all of our 11/5/2018 8:26 AM
parks for 2 months. Another solution during this time is required which the council has not put it
place alternative parking

149 less traffic lights, more efficient ways of crossing roads, more parking is necessary 11/5/2018 8:23 AM
150 I usually us the mall king Street parking. It's not always full by 8.30 like it was when the light rail 11/5/20187:07 AM
was getting built so a little better. We need the half hour free parking out front as our customers
can't often get a car space so don't bother.. Need some more than 15min free.. $6 or more for 2
hours is silly.. Hopefully the light rail will bring more people and stop others bringing their cars..

151 You should of put the light rail down the exsisting rail corridor. 11/5/2018 6:31 AM
152 Build more multilevel car parks instead of apartment blocks 11/5/2018 6:17 AM

153 Under harbour carpark. Accessible from Stockton and Newcastle. 11/4/201810:51 PM

154 Tram has ruined Newcastle 11/4/201810:03 PM

155 Is this a serious question. Council and the government don't listen. It's all about greasing their filthy 11/4/2018 9:52 PM

( 156 Multi storey below & above ground parking facility; the facility could also have renewal energy 11/4/2018 7:32 PM
production devices & green walls. The carpark could be placed in a location near to the new
Wickham interchange so as to make use of the new light rail.

157 No idea, It's not my area of expertise 11/4/2018 7:09 PM

158 An Expansion of Park & Ride with free parking facilities. Ideally that would have been adjacent to 11/3/2018 2:53 PM
the NewcastleInterchange with free travel for CBD staff on the Light Rail. Failing that Park & Ride
at No.1 Sports Ground or other suitable inner city locations..

159 Shorter Parking intervals Turn over more people 11/3/2018 11:24 AM

160 More park and ride that have other services available within them. Shops grocer etc 11/3/2018 9:00 AM
161 Increase parking back to previous levels- uni needs to provide parking.current vision is unhelpful to 11/2/2018 7:41 PM
current business owners and rate payers

162 Frankly, Newcastle people are going to take a longtime to adopt public transport and the toy train 11/2/2018 7:31 PM
up Hunter Street isn't going to change that. The loss of the Honeysuckle carpark (with the Uni
development)will further impact. Clients no longer care about CBD locations in our industry - the
days of having to be in the CBD to be seen to be someone are going. Convenience for clients (in
terms of electronic access and then physical access to offices) is the most important factor.
163 Parking garages in CBD with immediate access to light rail. Immediate Accessibility to light rail 11/2/2018 6:09 PM
from a vehicle.

164 Better to build parking tower and stopped super car host 11/2/2018 5:49 PM

165 Dedicated bike lanes from suburbs close to the city such as Hamilton, Mayfield, Merewetherand 11/2/2018 5:35 PM
The Junction.Light rail to extend to out lying suburbs where there is parking not just 3-4 blocks in
the inner city.

166 The light rail needs a bigger network and free parking. 11/2/2018 5:33 PM
167 I have no research as to how other cities accommodate parking. Be great to know what NCC is 11/2/2018 5:31 PM

168 Stop closing parking stations, reduce fees on street oarking, I visited a client in King street and it 11/2/2018 5:30 PM
cost me $4 for an hour, this must be turning people away from Newcastle shops and businesses.
Visit them in the suburbs and park for free!

169 Bring back on streetparking. free tram. 11/2/2018 5:09 PM

170 Better buses, better connections, more frequency, and better promotion of public transport- it has 11/2/2018 5:01 PM
an image problem in Newcastle, unlike Sydney.

171 Not sure 11/2/2018 4:02 PM

172 Take the tram way barriers away and make the majority of the track dual running i.e. cars and 11/2/2018 2:10 PM
trams and put parking back in

49 I 64

173 While I understand the concept of forcing people to use public transport by eliminating access to 11/2/2018 2:08 PM
all day parking however this creates other issues when people need to park in the city or overstay
their paid parking due to a meeting going over time. Payment for lime stayed rather than prepaid
parking would overcome this.

174 More free parking on on fringes of CBD, free transport to and within the CBD with high frequency 11/2/2018 2:06 PM

175 Put in parking stations, and better paths 11/212018 1:48 PM

176 Obviously park n ride, which should be free. Bus route should have zone numbers. Zone 1 & 2 1112121
08 12:50 PM
should be free to ride into the city. Light rail should also be included free of charge with any train
ticket that way people entering the city from Maitland and afar will not be hit twice for commuting.

177 Less 8 hour parking around the city centre/fringe streets so that more visitors can access parking, 11/2/201811:06 AM
rather than it being taken up by workers.

178 More frequent bus services from within 5km radius. Better publicity for these routes. 11/2/2018 10:19 AM

179 The light rail should extend along Glebe Road to Broadmeadow and out to the Uni/Hospital/shops. 1112/2018 9:48 AM
There's no point driving to Wickham where there's no parks there and getting on it to go into the
CBD. Car parks similar to Westfield and Charlestown would also be ideal. One big one down East
End and one down West End - these can be for people who work freeing up the beach and main
streets for customers and visitors. There are car parks but you have to be in and out before a
certain time to get a cheap rate (which isn't that cheap). Also if there's an emergency, such as kids (
being sick, you have to pay a large sum because you're leaving early. Spending over $2600 a
year on parking to go to work is excessive and pushing people to work from home.

180 How about more carparks and more buses. 11/2/2018 9:32 AM

181 keep the park and drive going great service meets my needs, its safe efficient and works in with 11/212018 7:52 AM
my working hours which helps our business
182 Privately owned parking garages are too expensive to use on a daily basis. Provide council ones 11/2/2018 2:31 AM
for the same price as all day metered parking. Stop developing the waterfront at honeysuckle & the
removal of one of the biggest & most used car parks in the cbd. No development may be done
without a car park being included in the plans. Create underground or above ground car parks.
Take back from Supercars the side road alonQ the foreshore which used to accommodate around
30 cars with all day parking.
183 I am not a town planner 11/1/2018 10:57 PM

184 Reduce the costs as it is quite expensive and have more walking distance parking to Honeysuckle 11/1/20 18 6:44 PM
185 More multi-storey car parking or car slackers, continuing the Park & Ride service. 11/1/2018 5:04 PM

186 Build couple of car parks in the Honeysuckle area. It is not just the people that work there that will 11/1/2018 4:29 PM
benefit but touristsas well.
187 Maybe just a large parking garage close to the CBD because it is hard to drive you car, park 11/1/2018 4:16 PM
somewhere else and then catch public transport closer.
188 Don't build buildings without car spaces like the uni, don't take away from Small business that were 11/1/2018 4:16 PM
sold a plan over 10 years the dream of a area called honeysuckle filled with high end shops and
restaurants that real never hit the mark I! Everything keeps getting taken away, parking times
shorten or worst removed ! I feel maybe it's a little to late and the damage is done! My clients and
staff have had enough and really have been dealing with this for years... I don't have many options
left other than to think about the future of the business and moving maybe the only answer I
189 Access and provisions in DA's for parking that can be shared between residentsand visitors to the 1111/2018 4:13 PM
cbd for work to allow utilisation of spaces that may otherwise sit empty during the day and could be
190 Parking!! 1111/20184:09 PM

191 More PARKING 11/1/2018 4:07 PM

192 More work needs to be done to provide greater number of car parking spaces at a reasonable cost 11/1/2018 4:00 PM
to commuters.
193 Im not sure 11/1/2018 3:47 PM

194 Leave what is left of the car parks. Businesses will lose out and close if its harder for customers to 11/1/2018 3:26 PM
get to locationsthey wont go. Parking is a joke as it is and you want to make it worst.

50 I 64
196 More parking is required, if you are not here before 8am good luck find one. 11/1/2018 3:12 PM
197 I drive because parking only costs me 70c extra a day compared to public transport, why would I 11/1/2018 3:09 PM
pay for a bus? It's too expensive. Provide more parking for local workers or a much better public
transport system

198 More parking facilities to accommodate ALL people in the CBD, parking for employees in the CBD 11/1/2018 3:07 PM
should be free of charge or discounted

199 not sure if anything can be done as it has already been congested and jammed up by buildings 11/1/2018 3:05 PM
and no thought was given at all for traffic flow
200 Make more parking along Honeysuckle Drive 8hrs. Ensure the new developments have 11/1/2018 2:41 PM
opportunity for paid parking underneath.
201 A multi storey car park is desperately needed somewhere to make up for all the parks lost due to 11/1/20182:35 PM
building construction
202 I have dozens of ideas and would do the research on how to best organise better parking in the 11/1/2018 2:28 PM
CBD. Call me 0406998171.
( 203 Nothing innovative about providing a reliable and frequent public transport system, like all other 11/1/2018 2:26 PM
normal cities. No one can get here as trains run every half an hour by the time you wait you could
have driven to where you were going. Stop selling all landto private developers.
204 create additional car parking 11/1/2018 2:25 PM
205 na 11/1/2018 2:24 PM
206 There are a number of non-paying limited time areas that use to be all day parking (fort dr for 11/1/2018 1:25 PM
example). Due to the lack of parking for CBD workers, these areas need to be opened up to free
all day parking.

207 I think that a parking station needs to be built to cover business in the area, the parking at the end 11/1/2018 1:21 PM
of Honeysuckle Dr (Throsby 8P) is always full once this is taken away people who travel to work
from out of the local area will struggle to get to work and have a reasonable work life balance.

208 Most major cities have underground parking under park lands so building one under civic park 11/1/2018 1:17 PM
would be beneficia l.

209 Park and ride to continue from Hunter Stadium or some other area. 11/1/2018 1:17 PM
210 I don't have a creative idea, butthere needs to be more affordable parking. Parking is ridiculously 11/1/2018 11:51 AM
expensive at the moment. There needs to be more parking and it needs to be cheaper/free.
.211 Underground car parks and lots of them, make use of all the existingundergroundtunnels. Ideally 11/1/2018 11:49 AM
a subway would have been a better use of funds/spacethan a light rail. The underground car
parks could have parking permits for those who work in the city - something similar to the car
parking situation at the University of Newcastle Callaghan campus - where you pay a discounted
rate for a years worth or parking.

212 nothing can be done for our business as far as parkingis concerned maybe when the light rail 11/1/2018 11:42 AM
starts it may improve as there is a light rail station close by.
213 Things will help with the light rail, however more free shuttles down Honeysuckle Dr and more 11/1/2018 11:38 AM
access to longer-termparking (than the limited 2 hours) in areas such as Wright Lane.

214 more parking 11/1/2018 11:16 AM

215 I don't think innovative or creative ideas are really necessary. A back to basics approach by looking 11/1/2018 11:08 AM
at the publc i transport system in Newcastle would be a good start. The bus services in Newcastle
are appalling for the size of the city and doesn't operate functionally for people to use. Express
services for suburbs surrounding suburbs (Merewether, Adamstown, Hamilton, etc.) to encourage
people closeto the CBD to utilise these services to free up parking for others. Alternatively, more
express services to train stations. This is pretty standardfor a city the size of Newcastle, however,
it seems to be lacking here for some reason. There does need to be parkingoptions though as
there needs to be options for everyone.
216 More car parking seems the most logical 11/1/2018 10:53 AM

51 / 64

217 Removed pod parking on Saturdays. Extend the light rail further so people outside the Newcastle 11/1/2018 10:47 AM
cbd can use it to come in. Make new developments have allocated public use car spaces under
there new buildings.

218 Well the light rail has had a field day ripping up parks and bottling a couple of intersections along 11/1/2018 10:46 AM
hunter st. No idea, just rebuild some more parking lots they just recently knocked down would be
helpful, possible expand existing if possible!

219 No paid parking in the CBD at the weekend, anywhere. 11/1/2018 10:36 AM

220 Getting rid of Supercars would free up some parking at a busy time of year. 11/1/2018 10:31 AM

221 I would like to see a car park for businesses where employees can reserve car parks at reduced 11/1/2018 9:06 AM
costs, this would free up a lot of parking for clients and customers. There is not enough all day
parking at thee present time in my opinion.

222 multi level parking, build up not out, less useless apartment blocks 11/1/2018 8:56 AM

223 Advertise the residential address and work address of all politicians and property developers...lets 11/1/2018 8:53 AM
see how committed they are to revitalising newcastle

224 In 2018 there is a plethora of innovative tech to support parking in cities with strategies to reduce 11/1/2018 8:44 AM
motor vehicle traffic and usage in CBD areas. We have plenty of space in the CBD which can be
used to subsequent parking. The implementation of more parking buildings is a simple one, should (
it be council owned and operated offers significant revenue, or privatised • regardless provides
access. Smart parking is working • positive feedback but there is a need for more spaces. Use the
unsold rail corridorfrom Darby st up as one way parking streets with parking for accessibility to
hunter street businesses.

225 Cycling lanes 11/1/2018 8:20 AM

226 Ongoing park and ride facilities, common in UK to park on outskirts and bus into CBD 11/1/2018 8:14 AM

227 BUILD A CARPARK. KEEP IT SIMPLE. 10/31/2018 10:56 PM

228 We definitely need better public transport, not just one road in and one road out. We need parking 10/31/201810:10 PM

229 we need multi story car parks or free 1 hour parking in the st 10/31/2018 5:03 PM

230 If you want people to use the Light rail there needs to be large scale cheap parking at a major 10/31/2018 4:42 PM
interchange so they can leave the car there and catch the train. There also needs to be large size
car stacker car pars to allow people that work out side of normal times to allow them to park there.

231 Build a new council car park. Incorporate a new entertainment zone or replace the exiting Tower 10/31/2018 4:36 PM
Cinemas with below and above ground car parking (at a reasonable rate and with reduced rates
for out of peak periods and days and/or validated parking with minimum CBD retail business
purchases}. Access via either King Street and Crown Streets using traffic lights and exit along
Church lane above and parallel to King Street with egress through Darby Street intersection.
Undergroundparking would extend deep under Church Streets. Centrally located for law courts,
civic park, City Hall, Hunter Street CBD etc. Tower could relocate with plenty of parking to the
corner of Auckland and King incorporating unused University land and down to the Godfrey's
building eyesore. Uni could use some screens for educational purposes. Or Tower could relocate
to corner of King/Church Lane and Darby Streets linking with open air cinema events/festivals in
Civic Park and the new facility. More loading zones 7 am to 12 am converting to disabled parking
zones all hours other than that. Use of smaller transit park and ride buses similar to those used in
Tauranga NZ with luggage/freighttrailers so small business people can take small amounts of
stock with them to and from work without having to use their car. Make four major park locations
including ISC, Lake Macquaries new Basketball zone at Hillsborough, Steel River, Azzuri at
Highfields etc. Drop off zones could be painted existing car parks within the CBD that are clear
away during the park and ride times but reverting to normal parking at other times.

232 We need proper parking spaces available in the CBD to cater for the increasing population in the 10/31/2018 4:30 PM
area. I myself require a car for work so need to drive into the CBD.

233 There needs to be more parking lots in the CBD like there now is on the foreshore (would be even 10/31/2018 4:30 PM
better if it wasn't paid parking}. It is great that there is the park and ride option however this isn't
practical for everyone, as it's only close to home for some people travelling in to the CBD, and it is
also time costly as there is added travel time to use it.

52 I 64

234 Newcastle West should providemore parking for all employees. Newcastle Council and other 10/31/2018 4:15 PM
businesses are shortly relocating to Newcastle West and there is currently a shortage of parking. I
hate to think what it will be like in 6 months.

235 create parking stacks at low cost to workers 10/31/2018 4:00 PM

236 something has to change 10/31/2018 3:58 PM

237 Council has a DON'T BRING YOUR CAR TO TOWN and yet the new administrative building has 10/31/20183:55 PM
massive amount of car park space. (Double Standard)
238 It should be the local government's responsibility to source and build suitable parking stations 10/31/2018 3:49 PM
across various locations in the CBD.

239 You have very limited spaces for all day parking that isnt a big hike to get to.. the spots that are 10/31/2018 3:39 PM
reasonabily close are upwards of $30 a day.. rediculous and greedy

240 Stop removing car parks. Pretty mind blowing. If you want people to use the tram then build a 10/31/20183:02 PM
giant car park near the tram station. Not everyone will want to catch the tram though so it's super
important to keep the pre-existing car parks and create more.

241 keep the park and ride service for the broadmeadow stadium 10/31/2018 3:02 PM

242 Provide more carparking, either in the city or collocated with transport ie adjacent light rail 10/31/2018 2:56 PM
243 Needs to be public transport that doesn't take longer than driving the car, bigger or better car 10/31/2018 2:49 PM
parking near stations or public transport stops out of the city to encourage the use of the transport,
buses and trams

244 I sent an email before the light rail started.showing a link to youtube chinese light rail.running on 10/31/2018 1:40 PM
batteries not needing the road to be dug updigging up.Downer got their way
245 High rise parking stations. Bike lanes. Express shuttle buses along major feeder routes (eg. 10/31/2018 1:02 PM
Maitland road, Glebe Rd) and from key train stations into the city that stop at both the transport
interchange and top of town at bus terminal.
246 more available 4hours + parking spots, 2hours is just not sufficient 10/31/2018 12:54 PM
247 I lived in Sydney and travelled via bus/train to work every day. However, Newcaslte does not have 10/31/2018 12:51 PM
a public transport system that is strong enough. Why can you not have a weekly pass for the
parking e.g. Boltonstreet? I emailed them, and there is a waiting list!! Sydney, any major train
stationyou are able to park your car all day for $0 and catch the train to work! Sydney has bus
stops across the city if you are unable to catch the train ALSO dedicated bike lanes. Here, you ride
a bike and risk your life with traffic, road works etc. You are not even able to travel within
Newcastle as the tradies are taking over and to exit the city you have to leave 1 hour earlier than
usual as you could be stuck at a stop sign as a crane lifts whatever building materials for a
construction site.

248 Free parking for a certain time for businesscustomers, MORE MOTORCYC LE PARKING 10/31/2018 12:30 PM
SPACES, since more people opt for this type of vehicle, expand light rail to other suburbs, improve
bus services

249 we need a designated bike track to support the introduction of thee bikes we need to implement 10/31/2018 12:22 PM
walkability- an app developed by newcastle Now

250 I think developments in the CBD need a minimum carpark allocation that makes sense in the 10/31/2018 11:43 AM
current environment.

251 Expand meter parking to 7 days a week and reduce 2 hour zones to one hour to increaseturnover. 10/31/2018 11:27 AM

252 More cheaper parking is what we need. 10/31/2018 11:22 AM

253 There needs to be more cheap and big parking areas 10/31/20 18 11:14 AM

254 parking stations open 24/7 10/31/20 18 11:04 AM

255 Build a couple of new car parks. Not innovative, just common sense for long term planning. 10/31/2018 10:46 AM
256 Improve public transport - Newcastleundergroundsystem 10/31/2018 10:34 AM

257 Better public transport from surroundingsubjects - Anotherferry terminal at Wickham. 10/31/2018 10:29 AM

258 Put a huge car park under Civic Park, many major cities have this type of thing. New buildings 10/30/2018 3:44 PM
going up should be required to provide their own car park, the Uni is a bit of a joke...

53 / 64

259 turn the old rail access into a parking lot 1 way and build parking stations 10/30/2018 2:42 PM
260 Get rid of Nelmes - ego + stupidity + power = dangerous .. we cant come back from all this 10/29/2018 4:34 PM
261 10/29/2018 4:11 PM
Ensure that it is is compulsory for the UNE, courthouse etc to provide adequate parking so it does
not affect businesses in the CBD.
Make an off road safe cycleway all the way from east to west in the city. I would cycle if I didn't 10/29/2018 3:42 PM
have to ride on the busy and dangerous roads.

Q12 Any other feedback?

Answered: 164 Skipped: 182

Tim e will tell 11 /22/20 1 8 5:22 PM

2 Parking is terrible. Train/Light would be fine if there was adequate parking at other local train 11/21/2018 11:06 AM
stations but there isn't. A bus from Fletcher to CBD requires 2 hours and 2 connections so out of
the question. There is no reasonable levels of parking at any nearby stations either. So car is
really my only option to work. Park and ride seems too infrequent. It's an absolute mess.

3 If I didn't like my job I wouldn't be working in the city. Many people that work in town have school 11/20/2018 4:39 PM
aged children so need their private car to drop off kids at school before work and pick up in the
arvo. Having to park so far away from work creates unneeded stress with trying to get to work on
time and get to kids school on time in the arvo and not be late. The parking situation is only going
to get worse
4 as above 11/18/2018 10:03 PM

5 It is a shortsighted and inadequate situation. It's unbelievable how poor the decision making has 11/18/2018 6:57 PM
been. Truly pathetic.

6 Have more buses doing loops around city areas on routes other than the 110. Encourage people 11/18/2018 6:17 PM
to leave their cars and walk and ride!

7 _J_am very concerned with the future of the Honeysuckle precinct. It has become a virtual ghost 11/18/2018 12:25 PM
town. Many restaurants have closed and others are struggling. Even the Hotels are down on
trading. There is nobody around now for breakfasts. All due to no parking or easy access parking.

8 It's disgusting. A new train interchangebuilt and no parking. New apartments great but no parking 11/18/2018 11:47 AM
for people that can't afford to live In town.

9 It really is bad ! My patients do not want to come to Newcastle Ill And I personally avoid 11/18/2018 10:22 AM

10 There is always a great deal of noise about community consultation, but no one I know has ever 11/18/2018 10:10 AM
been asked about issuesthat are important to them. One example is the removal of the lights on
the Cowper St bridge - Carrington residents feel very strongly about this, but were not consulted,
and now have a long drawn-out fight to have them restored.

11 I would use park & ride if it suited my work hours. 11/18/20 18 10:06 AM

12 NCC council & officials to blame for not picking this problem up several years ago when govt 11/18/2018 9:56 AM
proposed redevelopement

13 Too many constructions happening without infrastructure to support. It is a denial of our rights. 11/18/2018 9:28 AM
Newcastle is not headed in the right direction if you want to attract shoppers and sightseeing! It is
not just alarmingto see what is happening in the CBD, but it is creating anxiety in workers who
can't find a park just to get to their daily commitment to make a living. I personally see it everyday.
Other than that...there is no other option than to pay excessive fees to park close to work. It's time
to think about the 'workers' who create a living for the retail outlets rather than treat them with
disrespect and disregard. Clean up your act and stop over populating the CBD.

14 As above! Thanks for the opportunity to express my concerns. Good luck! 11/18/20 18 8:10 AM

15 Newcastle has been built on a peninsula, one way in and one way out, the west end of town never 11/17/2018 7:30 PM
took off after many efforts, and as for Darby & Union streets they are only trunk roads to
Merewether and beyond. As for Honeysuckle, well now with all the High rise buildings it would be
impossible to see the Harbour even if you wanted to drive into see the sights. It's a joke.

16 As above, maybe Newcastle Council can make attempts to make the CBD more scooter friendly to 11/17/201 8 5:30 PM
encourage some people out of cars and onto scooters, which require far smaller space for parking.
Especially with all the apartments going in around the CBD, these new residents might be
encouraged to use scooters not cars around the city.

55 / 64

17 the local council is not listening to people, hell bent on achieving personal goals.hence not 11/17/2018 3:00 PM
addressing the issues concerning operating in a very small regional city.

18 It is almost impossible to find parking in the evening. This means that restaurants and the cinema 11/17/201811:05 AM
will struggle. I believe that the cinema is closing!

19 Do it very quickly as a lot more businesses will either close or move out of the City and surrounds 11/17/2018 10:30 AM

20 Hard to determine how to improve things now light rail is not on rail corridor as originally proposed 11/17/2018 9:42 AM

21 I love the rejeventaionof Newcastlebut it has been terrible being a business owner and a resident 11/14/2018 4:37 PM
living through it AND still paying rates etc with zero compensation or compassion.

22 Please address the issue of safe cycling in Newcastle ASAP. Claims have been made that we 11/12/2018 5:21 PM
have reduced parking as we are becoming a city now and people need to adjust to accessing the
city without their cars. If this is true - then where are the cyxleways? Any modern, growing city
should be providing that.

23 The key mistake made by town planners is that taking away parking and investing in trams will 11/12/2018 2:22 PM
result in the public will abandoning cars. Public transportis simply not an option for many young
families. I thoroughly support the use of public transportbut ii cannot support a daily routine of
school and day-care drop off followed by a commute to the CBD. Outside of commuting,
Inadequate parking is a disincentive to visit the CBD. Families will opt for the major shopping
centres with free and convenient parking. I think this is a trend that contradicts the revitalisation of
the CBD.

24 there is minimal/very poor public transport in Newcastle so more parking in the city is essential 11/11/2018 9:11 PM

25 There needs to be free parking or business will close 11/11/2018 7:11 PM

26 I don! have a inovative or creative idea for parking in the CBD. I only know how difficult it is for 11/11/2018 5:47 PM
elderly people to access their GPs Dentists Accountants etc . Walking distances from parking
stations bus stops are too far.

27 People do not come to Newcastle anymore due to the lack of parking. New places should have to 11/11/2018 2:18 AM
provide parking for all who use it. Public transport does not suit everyone. I do not have 2 spare
hours to travel each way on public transport. We have closed our business due to this struggle and
a huge loss to us.

28 make the 15 min free parking 30 mins 11/10/2018 4:26 PM

29 People who live in the greater Newcastle area are very car dependant because of the spread out 11/10/2018 7:56 AM
nature of the suburbs and the lack of public transport. The success of the large shopping malls in
the area is mostly due to car parking facilities provided. It makes shopping more convenient and
accessible. The lack of car parking is a real problem for the growth of businesses in the Newcastle

30 Reduce the cost of car parking in Newcastle, it's ridiculous. 11/9/2018 2:38 PM

11/9/2018 10:10 AM
31 I don't particularly like the Newcastle CBD ii doesn't attract me. You're fearing a parking ticket and
you may not get a park and if you do the costs are to high to park so you try to get in and out as
quickly as you can.

32 Aside from the whole light rail disaster which is an absolute waste of money, I've never seen the 11/9/2018 9:29 AM
West End of Newcastleso stuffed up, in a mess and dysfunctional. I've worked in Newcastle on
an off for 30 years and it used to be great. Now it's an absolute disaster. They had a perfectly
good rail system and even if you didn't want to keep the existing rail system, there is no reason
why they couldn't have laid the new light rail tracks over the top of the existing rail line and lefl
Hunter st perfectly functionalas it was.

42 Lot of people are saying they won't come into the CBD because they can't get a park. They don't 11/8/2018 1:49 PM

51 No feedback 11/8/2018 9:36 AM

52 Newcastle is becoming inaccessible for people to visit which taking a toll on businesses. Peoples 11/8/2018 9:32 AM
enjoyment in general of the city is at a low as they can't find parking and are hesitant to visit.

53 What's the point. We have always been asked for feedback by the muppet brigade, and you give it 11/8/2018 9:15 AM
in good faith, but they do not listen or care about feedback as they have their own ideas anyway,
and it is just patronising and window dresssing to say that there was community consultation.

54 Yes! I live in hamiltonsth and our streets are now the carparks for the CBD. What are you going to 11/8/2018 12:00 AM

55 Public transport is not always suitable especially if you hav children in child care or school and 11/7/2018 9:54 PM

56 The city area scares a lot of people and all the civil works has pushed many people to the big 11/7/2018 9:08 PM
shopping complexes like green hills. Maybe a free activity to draw people in for example I recently
had a trip to Singapore we did an activity called "TrickEye" Singapore, now this is an augmented
reality experience that could be easily adapted to Newcastle CBD. The participants would
download an app and they would go on a little safari around the CBD. The app enables the user to
stand in a pre designated spot and point their device phone or tablet at a mural or sculpture and
the app then recognises the background and adds an augmented reality animation that you can
film or pose with, for example the fish trap sculptures down at honeysuckle you would aim your
device at and you would see maybe great white sharks circling the cages and the app has access
to your camera so you can film your kids or partner in the shot goofing around a bit like Pokemon
go but more fun. A few different ways you could use this to get people to explore places they
normally would not have. We use similar tech in one of our rooms so happy to discuss if this is of

59 I will be rarely dining in Newcastle in the future given the parking issues. I now prefer to dine in the 11/7/2018 3:02 PM

61 I also worked at Audio Clinic Newcastle and that was hell on earth. We lost so many clients and so 11/7/2018 2:37 PM
much business. The footpath would always be blocked off and they would turn our clients away
and I would have to argue that I work there. Absolutely NO parking there and the footpath
reconstruction was horrendous. They opened my door and drilled right at the door. They didn't
have ear protection and neither did I - causing me a migraine, and I found the workers to be very
inconsiderate.I hope every1hing is finished down there, because it is killing the business.

62 would be nice if we could have more car parks at train station so we can park the car and take the 11/7/2018 1:33 PM

63 Also being a resident of an inner city suburb, I rea lis e that the parking right in town is difficult. So I 11/7/2018 6:30 AM
try to walk to work as often as I can but with the parking now being changed throughout Cooks Hill
and getting rid of the free parking around Railway StreeVBull Street etc, I have absolutely no
where to park my car for the day so I am able to walk to work. It will be the same with the light rail
that the council continues to suggest we all use. That's fine. But without parking at our house
which a lot of terraces in Cooks Hill don't have, where will I park my car for the day that is not 2hr
parking so I can take the light rail or walk to work? In 2018, with family who do not live close by, it's
not an option to get rid of my car. The removal of free parking around Cooks Hill is absolutely
idiotic and nothing but another way for council to get more money in their pockets by handing out

64 Instead of putting up big business in inner city encourage them to move out and put some like into 11/6/2018 10:35 PM
some of the dying outer suburbs. Wallsend Main Street could do with some business and not be
the 2nd hand shop street that it has become. More parking is needed. I am sorry you have to sit
and read my rant but hopefully you will feel the frustration of what everyone is feeling with
Newcastle Council approvingly so many new developments and no adequate car parking. It really
is a joke with everyone. University - no parking Court house - no parking Multi story businesses -
no parking Multi story residences- no parking NO Parking!!!!

65 Should have been done years ago. Lack of free parking is killing business in Newcastle CBD. I 11/6/2018 4:14 PM
don't want to work there or run a business there for only that reason.

66 There needs to be more parking in the city. Many more spaces could be made available if 11/6/2018 2:40 PM
councilwere not so cautious!!!

67 Think about all of the members of this community that work and keep the economy humming when 11/6/2018 12:36 PM
the 9-5ers are being entertained, fed, spa'd, groomed, beers pulled, and gelato scooped. The
revitalising of Newy will die if it's all about one part of the economy.

69 The city planners need to compare how the city centre compares to other areas for retail or 11/6/2018 11:48 AM
hospitality trade. Eg Warners Bay, Kotara, Charlestown, Maitland. These areas attract much larger
numbers of customers as there is ample convenient parking. All better options than the Newcastle
City Centre. Bikes, walking and public transport dramatically reduces the basket size opportunity
for potential traders. The current planning for city centre requires regular big events and a 1000%
increase in tourism year round as the city has now been developed to discourage people from
Lake Macquarie , Maitland, Cessnock, port StE?phens and even outer Newcastle suburbs from
coming in unless they have to. The Honeysuckle foreshore has been developed without any
architectural significance and Is essentially becoming a retirement village. The lack of an extended
ferry service to connect Raymond terrace, Stockton north or even hexham that connects with
Honeysuckle and Wickham is ridiculous. Continued comparisons or suggestions that Newcastle is
a global city with world class facilities is embarrassing. Newcastle is a small 159,000 population
micro 'city' with the greater Newcastle region being 1/15 the population of Sydney living in a
geographic area of similar or greater size. Build car-parks where they're needed and stop letting
the University and State government run the place. Final note is that their needs to be greater
requirement for developments to have architectural significance. Especially for the University and
public buildings.

70 I refuse to go into Newcastle due to the parking metres, I refuse to leave a court matter to top up 11/6/2018 11:13 AM
my parking, I refuse to go back to a hairdresser because I had to leave the salon with a head of
foils to top up the metre I refuse to go to lunch or dinner in Newcastle it causes stress because of

getting a fine

71 Actually listen to business operators. it will be the success of business and attractiveness for new 11/6/2018 11:07 AM
operators that will determine the success of the revitalization.

72 I have classes that start at 8am for me to use public transport I would have to leave home too early 11/6/2018 9:18 AM
plus the train station closest to me does not have adequate parking to leavemy car and I would
have to catch too many buses to get from the lake. It's ridiculous there needs to be more parking
available near the University for students especially those that have classes finishing after dark as
well as a safety issue. I also find it difficult to go in town for leisure at restaurants theatre and clubs
as you can't get a park. Makes me want to stay on the outer suburbs.

73 I know that everyone says that if you work in the CBD you should use public transport, however 11/6/2018 8:29 AM
our public transport system is still very limited/basic, and as a working parent who has to take kids
to and from day care and school, its impossible to use public transport to facilitate these pick ups
and drop offs within the day cares operating hours and get to work on time. I think if they put in a
multi level car park somewhere it will help businesses a great deal!

74 The Park and Ride is a great Idea but because the Jesmond/JHH Interchange has never been 11/6/2018 5:53 AM

78 There is anticipation that the light Rail will bring more people to town to shop for longer. I am 11/5/2018 10:48 PM
hoping the fee wont be expensive and there will be enough parking at the interchange to support
this. There is a growing amount of people living in the CBD now which is great but I presume that
parking will continue to remain a problem due to so many spaces gone. Please don't take away the
motorbike parking- its working! if anything add more spaces because there is an increase on
riders because its currently easier to park. It can only help.

residential parking option, I was forced to drive the one street to work to park in potential
visiter/consumer car spaces, a situation shared by many of my residential neighborsand work
collegues; An accessable, local longer term parking facililty for residents and or 'out of town'
workers would have removed the pressure on CBD traffic and open up visitor/consumer parking.

work & stay in Newcastle for the next 6 years & ideally a lifetime, but Novocastrians are used to
driving- they absolutely need incentives if they are to give up their car & exchange it for public

87 I beli eve the light rail can be a success if more people use ii. Keep the ticket prices a dollar per trip 11/5/2018 10:08 AM
to encourage people to use it. Additionally a multi storey car park at the west end of the light rail
should help reduce the number of cars in the CBD. lesser cars means lesser parking issues.

90 There is not an easy and convenient parking solution in the CBD for a full lime low income 11/5/2018 9:39 AM

102 Keep positive and keep pushing forward. 11/3/20 18 9:00 AM

103 I suspect that more professional businesses will move out of the CBD over time, leaving the city as 11/2/2018 7:31 PM
a hub for the University Precinct, Entertainment Precinct and residential apartments. Any
businesses that service those (such as take aways/ coffee shops etc) should do well, because of
the increased number of people. Professional businesses will get sick of the complaints and loss of
business because of the perception (and probably reality) that it is just too hard for parking.

those of us who work in the CBD struggle to get a park within appropriateradius, especially for
those who start later shifts. Parking fees are unbelievable and it is ridiculous that the honeysuckle

we are even lucky enough to actually find a park

138 It is currently far too onerous to get into the city & stay in there. There is neither the density or 11/1/2018 10:36 AM

139 Light Rail should have stayed on the heavy rail line. Elected and non-elected powerbrokers who 11/1/2018 10:31 AM

centre or using Nobby,s and Newcastle beaches unless you have the money to buy into town and
leave your Maserati under the penthouse. Because Scott Street and Shortland Esplanade will be a
traffic nightmare due to poor planning, the 'solution' proposed of turning the Mall into the only way
to get out of the top of town will make more traffic nightmares that will continue to erode the
shopping experience of residents and visitors alike. Hunter Street is not buzzing as a recent
politician spruiked. !tis in fact a ghost town, and will continue to be for some time until we cater for
all needs and wishes, not just those with money or political folly.

146 Just stop making it impossible to come into the city. So much money into the city and making 10/31/2018 4:29 PM
people rely on public transport. People do not want to rely on public transport when they don't live
in the CBD. Anyone with young children, do not want to catch the light rail.

147 long term parking is almost non-existentin Newcastle and makes it very difficult and expensive for 10/31/2018 4:00 PM
workers to continue to work in the CBD

148 its so dangerous with the current parking and leaving late at night. my practice often means I leave 10/31/2018 3:58 PM
in the dark and I am terrified about having to walk because of the lack of accessible parking.

149 Seems counter productive that the council is trying to bring more people into the cbd but removing 10/31/2018 3:02 PM
car spaces. Doesn't that sound silly? Multiple customers have informed me that if that can't find a
park they just don't shop in the cbd. So many businesses are suffering and it's really sad how
obvious the solution is.

150 NCC will cripple this city by removing all the carparking 10/31/2018 2:56 PM

151 I understand that there needs to be short/timed car parks for clients and customers of the city but 10/31/2018 2:49 PM
there needs to be accessible longer car parking options for people who work in the city so that
people trying to get to the beach or around town aren't adversely impacted but neither are the
employees trying to work in the city

152 light rail alterations.super cars are killing the city 10/31/2018 1:40 PM

153 Am greatly concerned that even once light rail opens that lack of parking near transport 10/31/2018 1:02 PM
interchangewill mean that only those catching trains or buses into city or those already living or
working in the inner city will utilise the light rail. Where are the cycle lanes to encourage cycling
into the city?

154 public transport increase due to tramline may assist with those working in CBD who do not travel 10/31/2018 12:54PM
to clients, however those who need to visit client or clients to visit the business have been effected.
This needs to be looked into and improved. possible longer timed spots, more available untimed
spots for staff, easier access/ more frequent destination for trams including till late hours.

155 Newcaslte is trying to be a bigger city, but you do not have the transport or the ability to get from 10/31/2018 12:51 PM
outside suburbs into the city to work! Maybe when the construction is completed, we will not have
to fight for a car park with all the tradies!!!!I!

156 keep the buses on time. We can't rely to catch transport connection, even the FIRST BUS in the 10/31/2018 12:30PM
morning runs often late, causing us to miss connecting trains

157 I am wondering how has commissioned this survey..could you please let me know 10/31/2018 12:22PM

158 I go and drive in many different cities and I understand you can't park at the front door, and maybe 10/31/2018 11:43 AM
walking 3 blocks is fine, but when customers can't even get that at lunch time I believe it's an
issue, I also understand public transport is in a transitioning period but the unreliability won't allow
customers to rely on them.

159 Increasepublic parking stations to East end and West end areas, for say 500 at each area. 10/31/2018 11:27 AM

160 I catch a bus to work as driving in is too expensive to find parking. Starting at 10am makes it 10/31/2018 11:22 AM
impossible to find anything.

161 Please take the time and spend the money to retain car parks. What use is a cbd full of apartments 10/31/201810:46 AM
and nowhere to park for business customers? A city can't survive on coffee shops.Development
needs balance.
162 No 10/31/2018 10:34 AM

163 Ned to change the mentally of Neecastle workers and educate them to car pool and use the 10/31/2018 10:29 AM
inproved public transport that we have suggested.
164 When you have a disabled kid you need to drive. This has not been taken into account at all. 10/29/2018 4:34 PM
There is no parking in front of the Cerebral Palsy Disorders Clinic on HunterStreet for instance.
How friggin ridiculous.
