Instructional Strategies and Learning Tasks that support diverse student needs. (Include
what you and students will be doing.):
Ø Ss will come in a sitting bunch facing the touch board (projection of Mary had a baby)
Ø Ss will listen and identify repeated phrases
Ø Ss will sing along with the repeated phrases and the last line of the song
Ø Ss will sing whole song
Ø Ss will stand while T sings Rocky Mountain and go over to the piano
Ø Ss will step to the beat as T sings again
Ø Ss will show melodic contour with their hands
Ø Ss will echo Rocky Mountain
Ø T will signal for Ss to get into circle spots while T starts singing Wake up you sleepy head
Ø T will show with gestures while singing, the movements for the song
Ø Ss may join in what they remember but all will sing the stationary section “The sun is hot,
the cows are lost, I think I’ll rest, till they come home”
Ø T will ask students “what color is this cow?” (displayed picture of cow on board”)
Ø T will prompt the students to answer this question only and specifically until a students
answers “ the cow is black and white”
Ø T say this is the best answer and Ss will discover that it is the best because it has part of
the question in it
Ø T will ask what color is the bone, for clarification of how to answer questions
Ø Ss will discover solfege for who has the bone smlsm
Ø T will put that up on the staff as the question
Ø T will present three possible answers to the question
Ø Class will sing through each answer
Ø Class will sing the question and T will sing an answer
Ø Ss will tell T which she sang
Ø T will sing the question and hold up a 1 ,2, or 3 and Ss will sing the corresponding
answer
Ø T will ask if anyone wants to try by themself

· Formal Assessment: Students will complete a worksheet that will show their ability to
write music notation
· Modifications to the Assessments: Teacher will modify the speed of the activities to
give students the support they need.
