‘A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will

I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart
out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to
walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments,
and do them.’ Ezek.36:26,27. (see 11:19,20)

“My words are spirit and they are life.” John 6:63.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth

understanding unto the simple.” “Thy word is a lamp
unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Ps.119:
130,105.

“All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;

there is nothing forward (crooked) or perverse in
them. They are all plain to him that understandeth,
and right to them that find knowledge.” Prov.8:8,9.
“I love them that love Me; and those that seek Me
early (diligently – RV.) shall find me.” Prov.8:17.

“Because he hath set his love upon Me, (cleaves to

me in love. - RSV.) therefore will I deliver him.”
Ps.91:14.

“And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

And I will give them one heart, and one way that they
may fear me for ever, for the good of their children
after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant
with them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in
their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. Yea,
I will rejoice over them to do them good.” Jer.32:38-
41a.

“This is the covenant that I will make with them after

those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into
their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And
their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”
Heb.10:16.

“The Comforter which is the Holy Spirit, whom the

Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all
things, and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with
you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world
giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be
troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:26,27.

By “the creative power of the Holy Spirit” we are “to

receive the new heart, that is kept soft and tender by
the grace of heaven. - - -
When Jesus speaks of the new heart, he means the
mind, the life, the whole being. To have a change of
heart is to withdraw the affections from the world,
and fasten them upon Christ. To have a new heart is
to have a new mind, new purposes, new motives.
What is the sign of a new heart? – A changed life.”
Our High
Calling, p.159.

“A man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the

boldness of his face shall be changed.” Eccl.8:1.

Christ is our wisdom. “Now if any man have not the

Spirit of Christ he is none of His.” Rom.8:9.

“And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of

sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. - -
- He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also
quicken (make alive) your mortal bodies by His Spirit
that dwelleth in you.” Rom.8:10,13,14.

PRAY – “Create in me a clean heart, O, God; and

renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away
from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from
me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and
uphold me with they free spirit.”

Ps.51:10-12.

We are changed by the Word of God.

“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and
all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. For
he spake and it was done; he commanded and it stood
fast.” Ps.33:6,9

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ

Jesus. - - - Work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to
will and to do of His good pleasure.” Phil.2:5,12,13.

“It is the character and mind of Christ which, by

conversion and transformation, men are to receive.
Through his Son, God has revealed the excellency to
which man is capable of attaining. God permits every
person to exercise his individuality. - - - An individual
faith, - - - experience, knowing for himself that Christ
is formed within, the hope of glory.” Imitate no man.
Our pattern is Christ.” O.H.C. p.108.

Jesus said, “For I have given you an example, that ye

should do as I have done to you.” John 13:15.

“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ

also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that we
should follow His steps. Who did no sin, neither was
guile found in his mouth. Who when he was reviled,
reviled not again, when he suffered, he threatened
not; but committed himself to him that judgeth
righteously.”
“For what glory is it if you be buffeted for your faults,
ye take it patiently? But if, when ye do well, and
suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable
with God.” 1Pet.2:21-23,20.

“Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am

meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto
our souls.” Matt.11:29.

“We must learn self denial, - - - courage, patience,

fortitude, and forgiving love. - - - - The lessons that
Christ has given us will be practiced. As Christ the
pattern is kept constantly before the minds eye, new
habits will be formed. - - - He must be exemplified in
the minutest details of every day service in the work
He gave us to do. - - - ‘Lord, what will thou have me
do?’ Our natural independence, our self-confidence,
our strong self-will, will be exchanged for a childlike,
submissive, teachable spirit.” O.H.C. p.99.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye

transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye
may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect will of God.” Rom.12:2.
“How - - ? By the Holy Spirit taking possession of
(the) mind, spirit, and character. . . .

God gives the talents, the powers of the mind; man

makes the character. The mind is the Lord’s garden,
and man must cultivate it earnestly after the divine
similitude.” O.H.C. p.106

Help In Daily Living.

“What a man is has more influence than what he

says.

The officers who were sent to Jesus came back with

the report that never man spoke as he spoke. But the
reason for this was that never man lived as he lived. -
- - His words bore with them a convincing power,
because they came from a heart pure and holy, full of
love and sympathy, benevolence and truth.

It is our own character and experience that determine

our influence upon others. - - -

To live such a life, to exert such an influence costs at

every step effort, self-sacrifice, discipline. - - -

Many are dissatisfied with their lifework: - - - time is

occupied with common-place work, when they think
themselves capable of higher responsibilities. - - -

He does not permit us to pass by the homely but

sacred duties that lie next to us. Often these duties
afford the very training essential to prepare us for a
higher work. Often our plans fail that God’s plans for
us may succeed. - - -

We are to look upon every duty, however humble, as

sacred because it is part of God’s service. Our Daily
Prayer should be, ‘Lord help me to do my best. Teach
me how to do better work. Give me energy and
cheerfulness. Help me to bring into my service the
loving ministry of the Savior.’ “
Ministry of
Healing, p.469-474.

“There are many who have given themselves to

Christ, yet who see no opportunity of doing a large
work or making great sacrifices in His service. - - -
The Christian who is such in his private life, in the
daily surrender of self, in sincerity of purpose and
purity of thought, in meekness under provocation, in
faith and piety, in fidelity in that which is least, the
one who in the home life represents the character of
Christ – such a one may in the sight of God be more
precious than even the world renowned missionary or
martyr.”
C.
O.L. p.403,404,359,360.

Fidelity – (Webster’s Dict.) 1. Strict observance of

promises, duties etc.
2. Loyalty.
3. Faithfulness.
4. Accuracy; exactness;

It is not the length of time we labor, but our

willingness and fidelity in the work that makes it
acceptable to God.

“In all our service a full surrender of self is

demanded. The smallest duty done in sincerity and
self-forgetfulness is more pleasing to God than the
greatest work when marred with self-seeking. He
looks to see how much of the spirit of Christ we
cherish, and how much of the likeness of Christ our
work reveals. He regards more the love and
faithfulness with which we work than the amount we
do.” C.O.L. p.360.

“Because they are not connected with some directly

religious work, many feel
that their lives are useless. - - - But this is a mistake. -
--

“Wherever we may be, Christ bids us take up the duty

that presents itself. If this is in the home, take hold
willingly and earnestly to make home a pleasant
place. - - - This is as verily a work for God as is that of
the minister in the pulpit. If your duty is in the
kitchen, seek to be a perfect cook. Prepare food that
will be healthful, nourishing, and appetizing. And as
you employ the thoughts. - - - put your mind on what
you are doing. In all your work represent Christ. Do
as He would do in your place. - - - By faithfulness in
little duties, we are to work on the plan of addition,
and God will work for us on the plan of multiplication.
These littles will become the most precious influences
in the work. - - - True sanctification - - - consists in the
cheerful performance of daily duties of life. - - “

What we shall be in heaven is the reflection of what

we are now in character and holy service.” C.O.L.
p.359-361,

“The little everyday duties of life,- - - love to perform.

---

When engaged in the common, ordinary duties of life,

- - - put your heart into your labor. - - - Have a love for
household duties. - - - Washing dishes, setting tables,
waiting upon the sick, cooking or washing, is of moral
importance; and until you can cheerfully and happily
take up these duties you are not fitted for greater
and higher duties. - - - Woman in her home, doing the
simple duties of life that must be done, can and
should exhibit faithfulness, obedience, and love as
sincere as angels in their sphere.

Everyday life brings its perplexities, trials, and

discouragements. It is the humble work which
frequently draws upon the patience and the fortitude.
---
It is the Spirit of God that you need.” 3 T. p.79-81.

“There are many ways in which church members may

give the message to those around them. One of the
most successful is by living helpful, unselfish
Christian lives. - - - Little attentions will cost
nothing.” 9T. p.30

“It is in His purpose that every Christian shall be

surrounded with a spiritual atmosphere of light and
peace. He desires that we shall reveal His own joy in
our lives.” P.K. p.720.

“From no sect, or rank, or class of people is the light

shining from heaven’s throne to be excluded.”
P.K.p.719.

“All the powers of the mind should be exercised, all

the faculties cultivated. Perception, judgment,
memory, and all the reasoning powers should have
equal strength in order that minds may be well
balanced. - - -

All the faculties have a bearing and are dependent, in

a great measure, upon one another. One cannot be
effectually used without the operation of all, that the
balance may be carefully preserved. If all the
attention and strength are given to one, while others
are dormant, the development is strong in that one
and will lead to extremes, because all the powers
have not been cultivated. - - “
