Professional Development Plan

Managing transition during the activities.
1. Choose and describe an aspect from a teaching competency that you need to work on (Goal)
Managing learning by implementing the transition method effectively.

2. Describe what you will do to help achieve your goal (Strategies Used)
- Ringing bell, when it’s time to move from one activity to another.

- Doing an action, like, when they will finish from their activity, I will say in a loud voice (hands up, on your head), so
they will know that they must stop from their activity and move to another.

- Using the lights off method with singing a song. As an example, when students finish their small group activities, I
will switch the light off by signing (clean up clean up everybody clean up) song.

3. Describe how you can tell if you’re achieving your goal (Evidence)
Students will apply the transition strategy smoothly without wasting time.

Introduction (warmer activity + teacher active engagement)

-I will begin my lesson in the circle area by doing some exercises with students to warp up.

-Then, I will do with them a review about all the letters they took (s, a, t) and ask them questions, like, give me words
start with the letter (a)? what is the animal name that start with the letter (t) and the colour of it? Give me a food
name start with the letter (s)?
Time: 10 min

-Next, I will ask them what you think the lesson will be about? What is the letter we will take it today?
Whole

Active Engagement (group working with the teacher)

-I will show students PowerPoint slides that is about letter (p), for example, words start with the letter (p), find letter
(p) between several letters and writing letter (p).

-Then, I will give students a chance to learn writing letter (P, p) uppercase and lowercase, like, I will write letter (P, p)
in the white board by telling them that (make a line from up to down, then a half circle from up to down) to students
learn how to write it, then they will have a small white board to write letter (P, p) by themselves.

-Next, I will ask students to move around the classroom and find letter (p).

-So, like that I will be able to assess students understanding by allow them to write the letter and find it in the
classroom.

Independent Experience (small group activity 1 – high level)

Group Students will have a laminated paper with pencil to write uppercase and lowercase letter (P, p) by following the steps
that I taught them in the active engagement part, so they will be writing the two types of (P, p) by looking at their
Time:
level of learning. During that, I will monitor them and take notes based on their writing.
20 min
Independent Experience (small group activity 2 – medium level)

In the second activity, students will have an A4 paper with playdough in order to create a lowercase (p) using
playdough, according to that students will be able to develop their fine motor skills and during that I will move
around them to take notes and ask them questions, like, can you tell me what is the steps of writing (a line from up
to down and half circle from up to down), and can you show me how to write by following these steps?

Independent Experience (small group activity 3 – low level)

In this activity, students will have a worksheet that include an uppercase (P) in big size with watercolours, so
students will use these colours and dip their finger in any colour to stamp it at the letter (P) in the worksheet, so
students will repeat this step of stamping their finger until they colour the whole letter (P). While students are
applying the activities, I will move around them to assess their learning by taking notes and asking questions, like, is
this uppercase (P) or lowercase (p)?
Formative assessment questions:

- Give me words start with the letter (p)?

- Give a food name that is start with the letter (p)?

- What is the steps of writing letter (p)?

- What is the difference between uppercase and lowercase (P, p)?

In the closing activity, I will set with students in the circle area to discuss with them about words start with the letter
(p), allow them to write the letter (p) in the floor and air.
