Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Representation- The content is being presented on the PowerPoint visually and there is an auditory
component since it is narrated.

Action and Expression- The slides model what the correct answers are after the students have a chance to
say what they think the answer.

Engagement- This lesson uses engagement by ] showing pictures and having the students analyze to find how
many object they see.

Lesson idea implementation:

As the standards are addressed, the teacher will go through playing and pausing the PowerPoint while the
students are actively participating in the questions asked and searching for the answer. This project will be
introduced with counting and learning quantities. It should take around 5-10 minutes depending on where
the class is in their understanding of the quantities. The student learning will be assessed by creating their
own narrated PowerPoint and representing different quantities with pictures they like.
The final product will be used to inform learning by giving kids meaning to the numbers they have recently
learned. To extend this to a higher learning level, they could present PowerPoints that they made with their
favorite pictures and express their understanding of different quantities.

Reflective Practice: After designing this lesson idea, how do you feel the activities you created could impact
student learning? You may have designed this idea as an introductory activity to a unit of study. With that in
mind, what could be done to further extend the lesson? Are there other technology tools that could further
enhance this project?

This activity could impact student learning by visually showing students what the numbers they know mean
and allowing them to show their own understanding. To further extend the lesson we could spend a week
presenting different narrated PowerPoints that the students create and even bring in different objects that

correlate with the theme (for example, I could bring in balloons). Another technology tool to further enhance
this could be allowing them to use screen recording and put their faces into the presentation while reading
the slides.
