WORKSHOP 3
A. Pre-test:
Direction: Underline the word that is being described on each item below.
2. (Photosynthesis, Light Energy, Chemical Energy) converts water and carbon dioxide into
oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds.
3. (Aerobic, Anaerobic, Pyruvic) is the process of producing cellular energy involving oxygen.
6. Respiration without the use of oxygen is what we call as (Aerobic, Anaerobic, ATP).
7. (Glycolysis, Hydrolysis, Pyrolysis) is the process of breaking down of sugar or sugar splitting
into smaller molecules.
B. Objectives:
1. Identify the structure and function of plant parts and organelles involved in photosynthesis.
Introduction:
o Game – Leaf Relay
It’s just like message relay but passing the leaf from one student to another.
o The students will answer by dyad the following questions:
Have you ever wondered why leaves of plants you were holding have
different colors?
Have you at a certain time asked yourself why you perspire a lot during
strenuous exercises just like the game we did?
o The dyad will share their answers in front of the class.
Interaction:
o Discussion by the teacher about the Ecosystem (Photosynthesis and Cellular
Respiration)
o Oral Recitation
Integration:
o Journal Writing about Ecosystem (Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration)
o Stop, Watch, React
o Quiz
E. Discussion Guide
CELLULAR RESPIRATION
Deeper discussion on Ecosystem particularly about Photosynthesis and Cellular
Respiration using the following guide questions below:
What is an Ecosystem?
What are the components of Ecosystem?
What is Photosynthesis?
Where does Photosynthesis happen?
What will happen to the organisms if light energy is not converted to chemical energy?
What are the products of Photosynthesis?
How is glucose converted into pyruvate?
What is Cellular Respiration?
Where does Cellular Respiration take place?
Differentiate Aerobic from Anaerobic Respiration.
Why are Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration important to the Ecosystem?
F. Exercises/ Quizzes
G. Post Test
________________3. Oxygen and carbon dioxide are necessary for plants to manufacture their own
food.
________________4. The chemical formula for cellular respiration is the reverse of the chemical
formula for photosynthesis.
________________5. The products of cellular respiration along with energy are Carbon Dioxide and
Water.
