Reflection 3 No.1 Teaching-Learning Approaches and Strategies in Peace Education

Strategies and Approaches is very important in promoting peace education.

When there is peace inside the classroom there can also be peace among students and

the teacher. Holistic Learning does not only focus on the fact or concepts but also it

includes cognitive, affective and behavioral aspect of the learners. Learnings can’t be

transmitted with the teacher alone but it needs the participation of the students. In line

with this as a teacher you must have to create an interactive environment where the

students can share their ideas, concepts and even their talents. Peace education in the

classroom is very important because this serve as a pathway to develop more the

values, compassion, hope and to build sensitivity among the learners. When there is a

collaborative learning the students will know how to interact to the teacher and their co-

learner in way that they could get something out of it .

As a teacher you should make an activity that shows unity, cooperation and trust.

We should also encourage our students to participate in every discussion so that they

will become aware of what is happening in our society and even in their surroundings.

With the help of this one we can achieve our goal in peace education even inside the

classroom.

Whole School Approach

Reflection

A curriculum serves as the blue print of the school wherein it is designed for the

students, teachers, administrators and even the community. The school can’t just work

itself alone without the help of some indicators. In the curriculum it is not about only in

academics but also they include peace education. A whole school approach is important

because the consistent peace messages and values found in the various aspects of the

school and community will facilitate and reinforce the intended learnings.

This approach includes seminars, peace talks and conflict resolution. The

purpose of this one is for students, teachers, and administrators to be aware of what is

happening in our society and encourages us to be more active in participating some

issues that talks about peace. This could not be done without the coordination of

everybody because aside from it is important it could also help us in building new

perspective that peace is not all about the absence of wrong but this also includes

discrimination, violation of rights and so on.

Seminar Reflection

Building Foundations in Creating Peaceable Classroom

When you are going to make a building you must have to start first with

the foundation for you to continue with the structure .During our seminar the speaker

presented some topics that pertains to some social issues. In my own understanding,

creating a peaceable classroom starts with a teacher. We all know that when it comes

to our students, we can’t deny the fact that competition is still present the role of a

teacher is that, you must have to omit this kind of attitude of the students, you must also

stand firm for your decisions in terms of treating your students.

Fairness and equality is very important in handling the learners, because if they

know that they are welcome and appreciated they will not hesitate to a participate in

your class. As a future Educator we must consider the abilities of our students and

continue to inspire them by being a role model to them. In line with this the foundation of

a peacable classroom is strong and even there are some complications you as teacher

must know how to deal with the problem. Peace inside the classroom can be achieve

with the help of yourself as a teacher and with the cooperation of your students.
