Direct radiation
This is the proportion of insolation Reflective radiation
that hits the earth's surface without The dispersed, direct and diffused
diffusion. Frequency and duration are
crucial values for solar technology.
Diffused radiation
This is created because a part of the
direct radiation is diffused through the
penetration of the atmosphere by hitting
different floating matter, deflecting
the radiation into different directions.
Although diffused radiation is weaker
than its direct form, it can, nevertheless,
be used for generating heat.

This specifies the magnitude to which

Technical description
The solar control unit SOM 7 plus is used with standard solar heating systems for
DHW heating and central heating backup. An innovative, multi-functional combi
display makes for easy operation.
The controller stores the nine most important system configurations that can be
called up easily. Graphics give information on function and operating state of the
device and system. The central user interface is the three-pushbutton panel below
the combi LC display.
Functions: Solar hours run meter, manual mode, collector cooling function, tube
collector function, cylinder temperature limit, collector emergency stop, variable
speed control, heat statement.

The solar control unit SOM 8 electronic comfort from STIEBEL ELTRON is
characterised by extended functions and its clear control concept. Operation is
made easy by the new multi-functional 4-line LCD and the precise multilingual
menu prompts.
It is suitable for smaller and larger solar heating systems alike. Application areas
are DHW heating and central heating backup/heating control. The extensive control
functions enable, for example, the integration of systems on roofs with east/west
orientation, systems with external heat exchangers or up to four cylinder, or to
control reheating with a solid fuel boiler or a weather-compensated heating circuit.
Two-colour indicators; options are twelve temperature sensor inputs PT 1000, two
counter inputs for the flow meter V40 (order the V40 separately), nine relay outputs
(of these four are semi-conductor relays and one zero-volt), speed control.
Incl. six PT1000 sensors and two heat meter counters.

SOLAR CONTROL UNITS SOLAR COMPACT INSTALLATION
Technical description
The solar compact installation SOKI SBK-M enables the easy construction of the
solar heating system for DHW heating with central heating backup, and connects
the solar collector array with the solar cylinder SBK 600/150 in an optimum
manner. The three-stage pump used is equipped with a system air vent valve. An
integral non-return valve prevents the undesirable thermo-siphon effect, i.e. the
solar buffer cylinder does not lose its heat when the circulation pump is idle.
Further components that are part of the SOKI SBK-M: Two three-way diverters
valves with integral servomotor, optical flow meter, shut-off valve for filling and
draining, ball shut-off valve downstream of the pump, safety valve 6 bar, pressure
gauge, thermometer for flow and return, PU foam thermal insulation around the
pump.

are designed to be set into the roof

The seal of the roof is guaranteed
by continuous base panels and the

bottom, lead flashing provides the
transition to the roof tile. The collector 2

Installation sets
One side cover set is required for each
collector array. This is designed to
finish off the l.h. and r.h. side of the
collector array. Within the collector
array, the individual collectors are
joined with a kind of "tongue &
groove" system that ensures an
excellent water seal for the roof
through its wide overlaps.
mm
Collector arrays of different sizes can
2400
be assembled by joining up to five
collectors side by side.
For hydraulic reasons, never link up
more than five collectors in a single
collector array.
It is also possible, subject to the size
of roof, to arrange several collector
arrays above each other. Only fit
the collector after completing the
pipework to prevent unnecessary 650 + (no. of collectors x 1150) mm
idle operation. Immediately after
the installation, fill the system with
