315 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. We
have an adorer who needs your prayers. His name is Mark. He has been an
adorer for at least 20 years, probably longer. His parents are deceased and
were very active in our parish. He has just been diagnosed with Cancer in
the colon area. Your generosity in prayer would be appreciated. We still
have a vacancy for the hour Sunday 5-6am and a vacancy Sunday 6-7pm. Try it! Our
Lord is waiting for you! Please call 330-690-9661 if you are able to commit. Thank
you Jerry Lamecker one of our new committed adorers.
Second Sunday of Advent
Sometimes it is difficult to imagine God’s presence in the normal confusion of home
life. The message in today’s gospel is “God came to John in the wilderness.” Even in
our busy and hectic home life we are called to “prepare the way of the Lord.” Your
family life can be a “voice crying out in the wilderness,” an example to other families of
God’s presence in a broken world.

Barberton Area Community Ministry item for the Month of December is Canned Fruit. All
donations can be placed in the bench in front of the giving tree in the vestibule of the
church. Donations are picked up on Monday mornings. Thank you again for all your
support in helping us serve our brother’s and sister’s in need.

Please pray for our Sick especially: Betty Bartel, Lisa Gnap, Judy Kriston, Anne Trischan, Shanon

Again, religious need your help. Senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests ministered
for years for little to no pay. Their sacrifices now leave their religious communities without adequate
retirement savings. Your gift to today’s second collection for the Retirement Fund for religious helps to
provide medications, nursing care, and more for tens of thousands of elderly religious. Please be
generous.

Last year’s changes in the tax law kept in place several popular and attractive charitable gifting options.
Gifting appreciated stock (held more than 1year) to our parish may allow you to deduct the stock’s full
value and bypass capital gains tax. Also, if you are 70 ½ or older, you may be able to reduce your taxable
income this year with a gift made directly from your IRA to our parish. Talk to your advisors and IRA
administrator for more information and to be sure that a gift is made directly from an IRA to a qualified
charity such as our parish. For questions contact Denise Moore in our parish office at (330) 745-0011 ext

Saints Cyril & Methodius Church, Barberton…. The building at the corner of 15th Street NW and
Shannon Avenue in Barberton is no longer a Catholic Church. The site was sold by the Diocese of
Cleveland in 2011 following the closure of Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish. The building is currently
occupied by “C&M” “Christus et me” “Orthodox Old Catholic Church.” This group has no affiliation
with the Diocese of Cleveland and is not in full communion with the rest of the Catholic Churches.
Catholics are not encouraged to attend services at this site. The Diocese of Cleveland has no way to
verify whether or not ministers at that church building are validly ordained. Furthermore, the
administration of sacraments which depend on faculties or on ecclesiastical authority may be invalid even
if the ministers were validly ordained. Please contact the diocesan chancery with any questions related to
this matter.

In the October/November envelope packet, you will find an envelope for Christmas

basket or contact the rectory at 330-745-0011, the deadline to have your intentions in flower list is
