1.0 INTRODUCTION

Career planning after graduation is a lifelong process which includes getting a job, working on
your own social skills, finding out your expectations from life and even retiring. There might be a
lots of possible changes in life because our long-term n short-term plans did not happen as we
planned. We can’t control things such as family, friends or health issues because it was beyond our
control but, once we make a career planning after graduating, it will lasts as far as possible.

First thing we should do about career planning is finding out your skill. Skill is the ability
to do something well or something that we expertise in it such as social skill, communicating skill
and etc. Each person on this earth have a lot of skills that they don’t know about and let it buried
down without using it in a good ways. Identifying your skills helps us to find our ideal job in
government sector or private sector that match with your qualificatios. Both sectors want to know
what benefits they can get if they choose us as their employee. So, we really need to polish our
skills because it acts like an extra in helping us to get a job soon.

Career planning is the answer of the question “what are we doing after graduating?”. After
graduating, most of the peoples experiences with the job hunting. Job hunting is an activity that
each of people in this earth would want to avoid as long as possible because it was hard and
chances aren’t always there. We are aware that in this world, having a job has always became a
necessity of life. In getting a job, we always change our minds about what we want to be and we
might made wrong choices of job or the job that we choose aren’t good as we thought and
everything will turned to dust.

2.0 PROBLEM STATEMENT / ISSUE

Not having any further plan after getting a degree certificate is a problem that has been
faced by students nowadays. Being unemployed problems among public and private university
graduated students are increasing as the development of this present world. As a student, planning
your future after graduation is very important because it is needed to build our career as well as our
future. Some of the fresh graduate doesn’t really care about getting job by not planning for their
future because they just enjoy their free time while waiting for their graduation days without
thinking about further future plans. They will only wait for any job opportunities to be exist in any

time. This survey had been made to figure out about how many students from Sultan Idris
Education University (UPSI) have their own further plan after finishing their study at UPSI.

Not having any further plan after graduation needs a quick and an innovative solution. One
of the innovative solution is career guidance centers, graduate offices and career fairs, either on
campus or organized, are hugely useful. Before graduation, the students should talk to relevant
people, pick up information from them and figure out the best route for their own preferred career
path. Talking to people who have some experiences, went on to work or study in the field career
that you are interested in is also one of a good way and the students can use it to try and plan the
next step for their future after graduating. Universities and colleges usually have their former
students that are working in any companies. Each courses and programme in the universities or
colleges must have their alumnus. The graduating students can keep in touch with their seniors
about considering further study, while many companies will be delighted to put the graduating
students in contact with their seniors from the same programmes and courses to tell about their
experiences.

3.0 METHOD

This documentary was conducted in Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) area and takes place
during the UPSI 20th Convocation day. In this documentary, we use the interview method. We
choose five respondents from UPSI who had just graduated at the UPSI 20th Convocation day. The
five respondents were Famila Jessica Nandoh (Bachelor of Education in Science), Nuraishah
(Bachelor of Education in History), Felsy Evyfron (Bachelor of the Theater) and Rosfariza
(Bachelor of Education in History). All of these respondents are graduates with Bachelor’s
Degree.

4.0 FINDING

Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) student plans after graduating. We interview the
graduated student to answer some of these questions about their future plan after graduating.

4.1 Finding 1 : What the most UPSI student plan after getting their degree certificate?

 Get a part-time job while waiting for the permanent job

 Continue studing in master level
 Spend more time with family first before getting job

From this pie chart 1 we can see that the lowest percentage 10% is UPSI students plan to
spend more time with family before find for another job. It is because, while they studying they
was too busy with their studies, assignment furthermore they are far away from the family because
of that they have no much time to gathering with family. After they graduated they need more time
so that their can spend more time and have fun with their own family.
Besides that, the second finding for UPSI student planning after getting degree is continue
studies is 30%. Besauce of all of the respondents is from a degree level so they want to continue
their studies in master level. For those, with the degree certificate is not higher enough to get a
great job so they also have plans to continue their studies in PHD level when they finish their
master’s studies.

 The most highest percentage is 60% which is they want to find some part-time job while
waiting for another better offer from any sector which is suitable with their degree certificate.
However, if they are chosen to become teachers afterwards they will continue their career as a
teacher.

4.2 Finding 2 : UPSI student majoriti choice. Goverment sector or private sector.

Pie chart 2 : Lots of students likes to work with the goverment sector for the following reasons:

 Work remains
 Pension
 Trusted banks to make loans

Most students prefer to work at government sector with percentage 80% while students who
prefer to work at private sector is 20%. Students prefer to work at government sector because their
degree certificate is related in goverment line so they want became a teacher which work at public
school. Additionally, student intend to work in the goverment sector besauce of a lot of benifits has
provided by goverment such as work remains, pensions and ease for lending with bank.

 However, there are some students who are interested to working in the private sector besauce
in their opinion private sector offer a higher salaries more than salary offered by goverment sector.
In conclusion, the UPSI student more prefer to work in goverment sector than private sector.

Overall findings show that UPSI student are planning to do part-time work before they get a
better job. The findings also found that UPSI student want to work in goverment sector for thier
permanent job besauce of many benefits in the future for them if work in goverment sector such as
earning pensions after retirement.

5.0 INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION

NOR AIN BINTI MOHD NAZALAN (D20162076048)

My first challenge is to improve my English communication skill. This is due to my weakness in

English communication skill. By doing this survey, I have to interview people that I never meet.
By doing this survey, I and my group members also need to find a suitable topic are relevant
nowadays.

Second challenge is to find respondents on convocation day. It is because most of respondents

are really busy with their convocation day and their family. It is really hard to find someone who
are really free and can give permission to be interviewed on their big day.

The most obvious thing that I discovered was the advantage of working as part of a group. I
learned that good teamwork is the key to success in activities when time is limited. As everyone
had their own point of view, many different ideas could be produced and I found the energy of
group participation made me feel more energetic about contributing something.

NUR HARWANA BINTI ABD WAHID (D20162076088)

As we know working as a team is a very challenging part in the group assignment. But there are
also have a lot of benefit that we can gains from group assignment. We can get more ideas and
opinion so that can make our assignment became smoother and also can learn a lot as you get to
interact with people from different course and personality. Our group consists of six people that

come from the different course. Everybody have their own opinion. We respect and discuss it
carefully so that we are not made our member in a team feel insult. We listed our topic and consult
with Sir Sasigaran either he arrived or not. We have been rejected many times until we got our
final topic which is about the Graduates plan after getting Graduate. While we are doing this
assignment we have an obstacle but we can handle it because of our team work. We are working as
a team and managed to settle the problems. The problem is when the interviewer cancels the
interview session with us last minute, so we have to find another interviewer to interview. This is
not as easy as ABC, but the effort of our team we get the new interviewer. We work as a team
everybody taking part and responsible to their work. This is helps our documentary went well and
it has been completed well. I would like to thanks our EP4 lecturer because of him I have
challenged myself to talk and interview people and improving my English language skill.

NUR SHAFIZAH BINTI PINDIK (D20162076104)

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to my beloved lecturers, Mr. Sasigaran besauce It's
a great deal to give tutoring to complete this task well. I would like to thank my team members who
are always cooperating and contributing ideas to accomplish this task.

Prior to carrying out this assignment, we have created the framework that we need to take in
this task. We have selected a number of key headings for our assignment but for lecturer's advice
and instruction, we decided to change the titlte of the assignment to another one that brought us
more info. So the title "UPSI student plan after graduation" is the most appropriate selection.

During this assignment, I found that work was easier besaucel the all members was involved
in conducting interviews around the 20th UPSI convocation area. When I was doing this task, I
was indirectly getting a new spirit to learn earnestly when I saw the happy faces of students and
their families who had graduated.

Overall, I am very grateful that we are able to carry out this task smoothly. I'm also very
grateful to have a group member who can give a comitment to completing this assignment. For me
group assignments like this are very desirable because this assignment can nurture the attitude of
each group member to complete their duties.

Reflection for pre-interview, my team and I discuss a topic for our documentary. So, my first
topic is “Reading Habit among UPSI students” but the topic was rejected by Sir. Sasigaran Sir
suggest one topic which is “General Idea among UPSI student”. So, I start discuss again about that
topic and let sir know our interview question, again our topic was rejected because sir said the
interview question that we give we already know the answer. I starting to fed up. After three topics
rejected, Sir helps us by giving one topic which is “Plan after Graduation” because it similar to the
situation for upcoming weeks. After got the topic, I prepared the interview question with my team
and waited for the convocation’s day.

During the interview session, my healthy condition was not so good because I got a fever and
bad gastric a day before the interview but I try my best to make this interview run well. During the
interview, it difficult for us to find a respondent because they were so busy taking a picture with
family, friend and lecturer. Some of them who want to helps us for the interview suddenly changed
their mind after we said the interview for English Proficiency 4 and they must speak English for
the interview. After they know that they need to speak English they don’t want to cooperate with
us because they were not so good speak English. I don’t give up yet to find the respondent until I
found a respondent who is miss Rosfazira from History Education’s degree at booth convocation
who want to buy a food. I asked her permission and told her what we want to do and she give us a
cooperation. She was so nice and kind person.

My post-reflection, we start divided a job for each of us and my part is combining the video
and rest of them combine the report and power point for presentation. My team are good and
cooperative even two of them I never know and never work together but I don’t regret for have
them in this team because they are so nice and the other are my course mate that always work
together before

Before we get the real topic of the interview session, Mr. Sasigaran already rejected one of ours.
Then after that, he helps us with suggested the best topic for our interview session. After
discussion together with my friends and Mr. Sasigaran, we agreed to do Sultan Idris Education
University student plan after graduate, but we have problem. Which is what question we need to
asking to student graduate. Then we discuss what good question to know plan graduate student
after get the degree.

The while does an assignment, we already set a time and the place for doing our interview
video. Our go-to event convocation at UPSI, our find the respondents and our target are only fresh
graduates. Before to start, our face is rainy and had respondents not want to do the interview, this is
so hard for our to do an interview. But, Our get 5 to 6 responses to interview after our try to get a
respondent and asking they what the opinion about our topic and every respondent we give a
flower by speech congratulations.

For post-interview, we make a conclusion from the interview session. We take out the key
point to be data of our interview session. We got 6 targets on the convocation day. We divided the
next task equally among us. The task including editing the video, do a powerpoint for our
presentation and finally the report of the interview session. From there we know that we need to
cooperate with each other to finish the assignment perfectly.

MUHAMAD FARIS BIN IBRAHIM (D20162076145)

First of all I would like to thanks for ep4 lecturer that is En Sasigaran Moneyam because he
has helped a lot us to complete this assignment. Do not forget to all my friends who worked hard to
complete this task.

We were given assignments by lecturers to complete a group assignment titled UPSI student
plans after graduation. At first, we had difficulty selecting the suitable title and we have listed six
best titles and I was given the opportunity to express my opinion on the selection of titles and
questions. After that, we ask for help en. Sasigaran to give the opinion of the title most suitable for
our task and we choose upsi student plans after graduation as our documentary project. During the
discussion process all members of my group provide 100% cooperation and commitment. Our
group makes more online discussions using whatsapp because everyone does not have time to

meet and discuss assignments in groups. Although we had some difficulty to finding the suitable
questions before the interview session, we managed to overcome this problem by using application
whatsapp group. we have resolved this problem by using whatsapp groups

In the afternoon during the convocation day, we agreed to conduct a group interview. there was
no much problem that disturbed us when the interview session. But we only had a bit of trouble
finding the right target because they were busy with their photos and family and maybe, they have
rejected because must to answer questions in English. However, with great effort and teamwork
we finally get 5 students to answer all of our questions. After completing the interview session,
we go back home and after a few days we talked to divide the task of editing video, making power
point and interview report.

Through this experience, I can learn to communicate well in front of people, especially
communicating in English. In addition, the value that I have earned during this documentary
project is all job will be easy if it can be done in groups and helps each other.

In conclusion, every graduating student has the ideals and dreams to gain a better life in the
future. They also must have a clear direction to manage their future in the face of the working
environment. Every fresh graduate student should be brave to venturing into new fields and not too
choosing jobs with existing qualifications. This is because, today's country faces difficulties in
providing employment to graduated student over the economic factors. Every fresh graduated
student should also prepare themselves with high experience and skills to achieve the desired
goals. Beside, graduating students also must prepare their selves with strong mentally and
physically before entering the world of work. The education sector also needs to help in improving
the communication and employability of fresh graduates. Therefore, new graduated students
should have a clear goal if they want to succeed in life.

6.0 GROUP REFLECTION

Firstly, we would like to thanks to our EP4 lecturer Sir Sasigaran, by doing this assignment we
have developed our self-confident and communication skills by interview the interviewer in
English. At first we have a few topic that we already listed, but we have to consult it with our
lecturer first. We have a difficulty in picking topic because a few topics that we have list and
consult are not suitable for our documentary assignment. At last we are doing “what are the
graduate plans after getting graduated”. We get the idea to do that topic when the next following
week is convocation day in UPSI. So we decided to go with that topic as we got approval from our
lecturer to continue with that topic.

While we were doing the assignment we got a little obstacle which is the graduator that we
have make a deal to interview after their convocation event ended to cancel interview with us. So
we have to look for the others graduator last minutes. Luckily, two of our members know their
seniors that are graduating that day, so with manner we ask for the seniors’ permission to interview
and she is agreed.

After we get all of the interview data we start our task by divided the data in a six part as a six
members in our team. So everybody doing their work and all is going well. We would like to
thanks again to our EP4 lecturer Sir Sasigaran, by doing this assignment we have developed our
self-confident and communication skills by interview the interviewer in English. We are so
gratitude that we managed to complete this documentary well and can submit it punctually
following the due date.
