Phoenix, AZ 85004

Dear Keerat Giordano:

I am writing to you because I came across an available Substitute Assistant Teacher position
when exploring employment options on Arizona State University’s job board. I am interested in
this position and would like to schedule a time where we can further discuss this opportunity.
The particular skills, knowledge, and passions I have to offer would be an excellent match for the
Khalsa Montessori School. Shortly after earning a degree in Early Childhood Education, I began
searching for a company that understands the vital importance of a caring community of learners
in a child’s life. Based on the Khalsa Montessori School’s emphasis on the uniqueness of
individual children, I believe my differentiated approach to learning would strengthen the
company’s efforts to establish a caring community that supports the needs of all children.
Furthermore, my experience in organizing classroom centers will help you structure appropriate
challenges for individual children.

Upon discovering the open position on Arizona State University’s job board, I reviewed the
Khalsa Montessori School website. The overall mission and goals outlined by the company
indicate a continual motivation to provide high-quality learning experiences. Along with my
AAS in Early Childhood Education, I am pursuing a BAE in Educational Studies with a focus on
Family and Human Development. My foundational knowledge of pedagogy and child
development makes me an ideal candidate for the Substitute Assistant Teacher position. This past
year, I played a fundamental role in the design of lesson plans and adaptive materials targeting
the social and emotional needs of students under my care. My experience in this area will benefit
Khalsa Montessori School because many children are working towards the mastery of social and
emotional skills.

The listing posted on Arizona State University’s job board specifies that the company is looking
for individuals who have a world view and a beginner’s mind. My view of the world engages
multiple perspectives and I am a life-long learner. As a part of my practicum experiences, I
compiled a collection of artifacts, teacher-made materials, and evidence of competency. The
main focus of this collection was the importance of integrating multicultural education into the
classroom. I believe children need to see themselves represented in the classroom if their
learning experiences are to be meaningful. In addition, I am receptive to learning opportunities
because I believe there is always more for me to learn from supervisors, peers, and children.
Khalsa Montessori School would benefit from my addition to the team because my knowledge
and experience spans multiple areas.
Khalsa Montessori School provides meaningful learning experiences for young children and
continues to change the lives of those in its community. I would like to speak with you about
how I can be a part of the lasting change this company creates. I will contact the offices of
Khalsa Montessori School at the beginning of next week. If you have any questions, please
contact me at 555-612-3349 or reach me by email at ercopela@asu.edu. I look forward to
hearing from you. I thank you in advance for viewing my letter and enclosed résumé.

Sincerely,

Emily Copeland
