Community get- together
For the first time in the recent history of the
Community, a get-together took place in January
2012. There was a gathering of more than 150
members at the get-together held at the
KCYMA Hall. An update of the church renovation
work was given by the President Nathan. Fr.Jude
Angelo gave the final blessings. The meeting was
followed by dinner. The cost of the dinner was
borne by the Committee Members.
Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes
The feast of our Lady of Lourdes was celebrated
procession route was decorated and illuminated
in a fitting manner. The procession was held in
the evening of Saturday 18th February 2012.
Hon. Dr. Dudly Thambinayagam donated fresh
flowers and Rs 20,000 to meet the cost of the
generator for lights and breakfast for priests and
nuns . A big thanks goes to him.
Kayts St.Anthony’s Cemetery Renovation
The Parish Priest appealed to our Church
community along with parishioners of the other
churches in Kayts to repair the cemetery, which
had been neglected and was in poor shape. A
sum of Rs118,800 has been collected.

I am privileged to send this
message to be published in our
first newsletter. I am happy that
this newsletter reaches out to
communicate with members of our
community. Reports on past events
and upcoming projects etc will be
made available to you via this
newsletter to keep you fully
informed of activities.
I really appreciate the support you
have given to our new committee. I
hope you will continue to give the
same support to the committee in
the near future as well. I also take
this opportunity to thank all our
committee members for their hard
work and support.
I am confident that they will
continue to lend their faithful
service throughout this year. May
our Lord God shower his choicest
blessings to succeed in all our
future programmes.

Savundaranayagam Educational
Fund
An educational fund administered
by a Board of Trustees is to be set
up to provide financial assistance
to needy students entering
seminary/ University or pursuing
Professional Studies or Vocational
Training. The Fund is to be
launched with the money collected
from the Silver Jubilee Celebration
of His Lordship. A total of Rs
250,000 was collected, which
together with interest now stands
at Rs 315,000. More funds will
need to be raised from community
members and well-wishers. The
scholarship scheme is currently
being drawn up and more details
will follow in the next newsletter.
Church repainting
The church building needs urgent
repainting. The cost estimate for
exterior walls is Rs175,000 (facade
and roadside walls) and for the
interior Rs 200,000. The painting
should ideally be completed before
the feast. Donations totaling Rs.
112,000 have been received so far.
