PREJUDGING IS A MISTAKE.

Nowadays watching someone when you are walking in the streets and you see him or
her with a tattoe, with a strange outfit or smoking can cause us the feeling to judge, to
make in our minds a conclusion of that person,also stereotypes are the ones who help
us built in our mind that is better outlooking a good shape, and that people with
overweight bodies don’t look good, or there is racism for the color of skin, but there is
a saying, “Never judge a book by its cover and that is so true. So, one should never
judge a person by external appearances? Well, there
are some reasons why judging by appearances is a
mistake.

Communication channels have impact on peoples

mind because what we see is what it helps us make
our own perspective. In TV we can always see most
times people with great bodies and this can make us
the thought that the kind of body is the one we need
to be accepted from others.

Also culture influence a lot in the type of clothes people wear and how they behave, but
what culture can't do eventhought it does influence in the develop of our learnings and
of our thoughts, is the fact that every person is unique and have the power to do what
they considered to be good. Sometimes culture can participate in the reason why so
many people judge external appearances, an example is if we see a person dress with
really exotic clothes here in Mexico, we judge them as a rare person, and make in our
minds that probably that person the only thing that wants is to draw attention. Also the
education we receive in our family makes us the prototype of how a person has to look,
in order to accept that person. In our home our parent’s teach us according to what
they learn from their parents or from their generation. An example is one I had with my
mother when I told her that I wanted to have a tattoo and she told me that it wasn’t a
good idea because that look bad, and she talked about things related to God, she said
that God gave us our body and that we didn`t have the right to use it in a wrong way,
and that probably I won’t get a good work. So religion is another topic that influence in
our learnings.

I think that as teachers we should teach our students values, It is impossible to make
every person in the world change their mind by reading this text, but if you read it and
like these paragraphs, I think that you have the chanse to participate and change your
prejudge minds, to invite people you know to think before acting, that words can be
really harmful and that we are the ones who have the power to be a better person.
