People have alyaws told me that I am an adaptable person, however, when I come to the united states
to study, I found that I am not as adaptable as I seen. I have already studied six years of English before I
left my country Indonesia. I had been studying conversational English with an American teacher for
abput a year before I left. So I really didn’t expect to have any problems communicating with American. I
thought to myself, “ I will just go to my classes and learn everything I can then by time the TOEFL test
arrives, I will have learnt everything I need to get 550 on the TOEFL. I will enter local university of my
M.B.A.”
Note how simple tense and simple continues tense are different !

Exercise 3 : there is a rule in making a concordance of the prexent simple verb and the subject.
We use the simple present to talk about things in general. We are not thinking only about the
present. We use it to say that something happens all the time or repeatedly, or that something is
true in general. It is not important whether the action is happening at the time of speaking:
What does this word mean? (not What means this word?)
Where do you come from? (not Where are you coming from?)
