What is important?
Unlike the Cessna U206G Soloy Mark 1, the Cessna T206H Soloy Mark 2 has a different engine, thrust
reverser, cell and cockpit. So it is an independent model.

XMLTools. dll must be installed to simulate realistic engine behavior. This is the only way to start the
engine realistically, a preclosing (hot start bug) has finally come to an end.

XMLTools is already included in some payware add-ons (e. g. Milviz Beaver or Otter). Then you don't
have to install anything else.

Milviz developer Tom Aguilo's tool is freely available - but there are different downloads for
FSX/P3DV3 (32-bit) and P3DV4 (64-bit).

If you are not sure whether XMLTools. dll is already installed, you can search for the file in the main
directory of the respective simulator. That's all you need for the solo. Those who don't have the small
file will find it at FSdeveloper. com under Resouces:

1. Introduction
What was the first civilian 1-Mot turboprop certification in the USA? Everyone immediately thinks of
the Cessna 208 caravan from 1985, but far from it: it was the small company Soloy Aviation Solutions
in Olympia WA, which began to equip the Cessna 206 with a 417 shp (shaft-horsepower) Allison 250-
C20S turboprop engine back in 1983 with a so-called STC Supplemental Type Certificate. Soloy called
this modification Mark 1, which initially consisted of the engine, a new gearbox and a Hartzell 3-blade
propeller.

In 2008, Soloy launched an improved version: the Mark 2, which has a more powerful Rolls-Royce
250-B17/F2 (450 shp) with a number of improvements, especially in the aerodynamic design of the
engine cover with only one air intake.

Soloy has filled the Turbine Pac (certified name) into the Turboprops niche that still exists today with
the Piston Cessna U 206 G/H models and the much more expensive and larger Cessna Caravan, Quest
Kodiak or Pilatus Porter. Do not therefore constitute competition.

If you take a closer look at the technical data of the Soloy Mark 2, it quickly becomes clear why
Turbine 206 is of interest to many an operator. In short, it is the performance. A slightly higher
payload can be lifted faster, has a higher cruising speed. The disadvantage is the slightly higher fuel
consumption and the higher maintenance costs of the turboprop engine.

In addition to the custom version (Pilot+5 Pax), conversion kits for skydivers or amphibium (float +
retractable landing gear) are also available. Most of today's Mark 2 have such modifications.

1.1 Installation
There is nothing else to consider during installation. The unpacked models are placed in the
SimObjects\Airplanes directory, the effects file in the Effects directory of the flight simulator.

Info: Gauges/Cockpitsounds are unpackaged in the panel folder and should remain there.

Cockpit sounds are controlled by Douglas S. Dawson's "dsd_fsx_xml_sound_tr. gau". Corresponding

files are included.

1.2 The Soloy T 206 H Mark 2 for the FSX, P3DV1... V3 and P3DV4+
All models are natively XtoMDL-complicated and work without any restrictions in both simulators.
For P3DV4+ there is an independent native version, which does not run in the 32-bit simulator.

Nine different Mark 2 models and 12 repaints are included:

- Basis (Custom) model as 6-seater. The directory contains general (common) textures,
documentation as well as panel and sound files that are also used by the other models.

- Base (Observer) model with enlarged viewport on the left side as a 6-seater.

- Amphibium (float / retractable landing gear) as passenger and transport version.

- Amphibium (observer) (float/retractable landing gear) with enlarged viewing window on top of the
left side as 6-seater.

- Parachutist with bigger wheels.

- Parachutist (Observer) with enlarged viewport on the left side.

- Transporter version with tundra wheels, without seats but with load (tundra wheel)

- MIL version as fictional RC-12 Guardrail Trainer

For more detailed descriptions of the individual models and special features, see point 4.

1.3 Automatic engine start

5
Cessna T206H Soloy Turbine Pac Mark 2 V1.0 Operating Manual
__________________________________________________________________________________

The engine can be started manually or with autostart CTRL+E. However, the manual engine start
corresponds to the real starting process in the Soloy T 206 H Mark 2 and has advantages.

Autostart:

1. STRG+E

2. after ignition of the engine, start-up and stabilization (approx. 20 seconds) the starter switch
set to OFF again! If you forget that, you have no control of the throttle.

3. Throttle_Set Toggle switch on FLIGHT, now the Mark 1 rolls off very slowly (if no brake is set).

4. Switch on the generator.

Depending on the stored start situation, the engine start may not work and the engine may not
ignite. Remedy: either press keyboard CTRL+SHIFT+F4 or change to a piston, e.g. Mooney and set the
mixture control to 100 %. Then load Soloy and start engine again.

Note: With Autostart, there is unfortunately the bug that doors cannot be opened using key
combinations. Therefore, manual engine start is strongly recommended.

1.4 Manual engine start

Overview: The starter switch is located at the bottom left of the panel - it has two positions: Bottom
ON and middle OFF. To the right of it the generator breaker. Below the generator switch is the main
bat switch, which should always be switched on first.

Above the Power Lever (Throttle) is the Ground/Flight Idle toggle switch. The switch controls
between low and high idle. Above the Propeller Control lever is the Fuel Cut Off, also a toggle switch.
On the LEFT (CUT) it is closed, on the RIGHT position (FLIGHT) it is open. It is normally open, but
should be closed when the engine is started.

1. Set parking brake.

2. Switch on the battery.

3. Fuel Cut Off to left position (CUT) (with mouse click).

4. Ground/Flight Idle (Throttle Set). For the engine start it should be set to Ground.

5. Throttle on idle position (pull out completely).

6. Push propeller control all the way in (100 percent).

7. Switch starter on and hold (does not have to be held with the mouse). Engine starts audibly and
visible on the displays.

8. At 13% N1 (goes fast, maybe five, six seconds) Fuel Cut Off to FLIGHT position - engine ignites and
continues to power up.

9. Starter switch then move back to Off. (If you forget that, you don't have a Throttle function).

10. Engine starts up and stabilizes (this actually take some time, so not immediately handle with
the Throttle).

11. Switch Generator on.

To switch off the engine, simply close the red fuel cut-out by clicking on it.

Tip: If you want to start the Soloy again manually, you have to press CTRL+SHIFT+F4 (Mixture=100%)
first.

2.1 Configuration-Window (Shift+1 Key)

With the config tool, different parts of the external and internal model can be displayed when the
aircraft is loaded and in all situations.
All models are prepared for the additional use of further avionics suites such as Payware F1 GTN
750/650, Payware F1 GNS 530/430, Payware RXP GNS 530/430 and Freeware KLN 90 B. However,
these must be installed separately for them to be displayed.
By default, the Garmin GNS 530/430 from the Basler project is available as a very good freeware.
On the left side of the configuration window are these:
- 3-blade or 5-blade propeller
- External power supply, the Ground Power Unit (GPU) with sound and function!
- Wheel pants - only works on models with standard tyres.
- Standard - or Military Antennas
- Cargo Pod

The different avionics suites can be activated on the right side of the window. Those are:
- Garmin GNS 530/430 + Garmin Transponder GTX330 + Bendix King Radio AP (all Freware)
- F1 Garmin GTN 750/650 (Payware) + Bendix King Radio AP (Freware)
- King Bendix KLN 90 B + Bendix KX155 NAV + Bendix King Radio AP (Freeware)
- RXP Garmin GNS 530/430 (Payware only for FSX) + Garmin Transponder GTX330 + Bendix
King Radio AP (Freeware)
- F1 Garmin GNS 530/430 (Payware also available for P3D) + Freeware see RXP
- F1 G500/600 (works only in combination with F1 GTN or F1 GNS)

__________________________________________________________________________________

2.2 Notes on the use of different avionics types

The F1 GTN and the standard GNS 530/430 are created completely in 3D, i. e. all switches
can be operated in the VC via buttons and keys. The F1 GTNs can be operated directly by
mouse on the screen in the VC (touchscreen in the simulator).
RXP, F1 GNS and KLN can only be operated via 2D or mouse click areas in the VC.
Important to know: there is no support for the individual avionics suites. If you have any
problems, please contact the respective forums of the manufacturers/suppliers.

Turning on the Standard Garmin GNS 530/430

The standard Garmins can be switched on using the mouse wheel - the rotary knob has a
dimming function, i. e. turn the knob further. If you don't have a mouse wheel, you can
switch on and dim the left mouse button by pressing the C knob several times. Back it goes
then with the right mouse button.

__________________________________________________________________________________

2.3 Overview of 2D panel functions

Depending on which avionics is active, the following windows can be opened in addition to the VC as
2D windows with key combinations:

Shift + 1 Konfig-Tool
Shift + 2 Standard radio stack
Shift +3 GPS 500
Shift + 4 F1 GTN 750
Shift + 5 F1 GTN 650
Shift + 6 KLN 90 B
Shift + 7 RXP Garmin GNS 530/430 or
Shift + 7 F1 GNS 530
Shift + 8 F1 GNS 430
Shift + 8 F1 G500/600

Important to know: Since RXP and F1 GTN or F1 GNS do not work together in an active environment,
i. e. in a loaded plane, alternative "Panel - using RXP. cfg" or "Panel - using F1GNS. cfg" with the RXP
or F1GNS entries have been added. These are located in the panel folder of the U206G Custom.

So if you want to use the RXP GNS 530/430 in Soloy, you should rename the file "panel - using RXP.
cfg" to panel. cfg. The same goes for the panel - using F1GNS. cfg. The "original" panel_org. cfg for
restoring the original panel. cfg is also included. All other avionics suites are compatible with each
other.

If you don't have the freeware KLN 90 B, Payware F1 GTN, F1GNS or RXP installed, the Soloy runs
without any problems, even if you can select the avionics via the config tool. The missing gauges are
then not loaded or searched for. The freeware GNS 530/430 and KLN 90B work with all avionics
suites.

If you want to try the Bendix King KLN 90 B, click here:

http://fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/the-kln90b-for-fsx-prepar3d-in-beta.432845/

Please be sure to read the documentation - the KLN 90 B is a very extensive avionics and works
perfectly in the Soloy, if installed correctly. The same applies to F1 GTN or RXP.

In general, the *. ini files of RXP and F1 GTN/GNS are already included in all models of the Soloy. F1
GTN has already been adapted to the Soloy. You can easily use these files with the files already
present in other models. If F1 GTN/GNS or RXP has not been installed, the *. ini will not bother you.
These can therefore remain there for subsequent installation.

All avionics suites are switched off in Cold & Dark mode. With the F1 GTN this is a bit confusing when
the battery is switched off. In this case, INOP instructions can be seen on the displays. You might
think the software doesn't work. If you switch on the battery, the GTN will also come to life and mask
the INOP instructions.

3. Tips and Tricks

Engine: The Mark 2 has an extended engine cover, not because the engine is so large. The Rolls-
Royce is actually much smaller and significantly lighter than the piston engine of the Cessna 206.

The handling of the engine is completely different from that of the piston. Turboprop engines are
generally much slower in power intake and output than pistons, which affects handling on the
ground and in the air. This is also well implemented in the flight simulator. That's why you should set
the right engine parameters for take-off and final approach and only change them in small steps.

No special damage model is stored, but the engine parameters should be within the operating limits,
i.e. in the green range up to just below the red ranges, e.g. of torque. That's when the Soloy is the
most fun. Take-off power is then, for example, just under 90 percent. Of course you could also fly at
full throttle, without that something happens, except for a higher fuel consumption, but then you
also have no realistic flight behavior in the simulator.

Engine operating limits (values correspond to real Mark 2)

Conditions Engine Limitations

Powersettings Torque PSI Propeller U/min (NP) Oil Temperature

Max. T/O Power 5 min. 101.4 2030 0-107

Max. Permanent Operation 78 2030 0-107
Acceleration 2250

For take-off (T/O) you can fly in the yellow area of the Torque/Psi display for a maximum of 5
minutes. The red mark must not be exceeded.

The maximum allowable continuous power of the engine must not exceed 78 psi - this is the end of
the green range on the Torque/Psi display.

Also important is the propeller speed (NP). This can be up to almost the red mark in the start run. In
ascending flight, cruising flight NP should only be up to 2030 rpm. Here you can pull out the propeller
control lift if necessary. 2030 is about in the middle of the green area. But usually you don't even
have to touch the propeller control lever in flight.

Propeller: Hartzell 3-blade and MT 5-blade propellers are used, constant speed. Hydraulic blade
adjustment, adjustable to full sail position. However, this does not mean that this can also be
controlled manually. Because there is no control lever for blade adjustment. The adjustment is
controlled by centrifugal force. Once the propeller is in position, the blades move into the sail
position.

So there are only 2 controls in the cockpit. The power lever (throttle control knob for controlling the
engine output via the gas generator fuel regulator) with the ground and flight idle settings as well as
the propeller control (for setting the propeller speed). A propeller speed controller regulates the
angle of attack of the blades in order to maintain the speed selected by means of the propeller
control knob. In other words - the higher the speed of the propeller, the lower the angle of attack of
the blades in relation to the feathered position.

13
Cessna T206H Soloy Turbine Pac Mark 2 V1.0 Operating Manual
__________________________________________________________________________________

Exterior models: Except for the amphibium, the models have a more or less strong inclination to the
rear as in real on the ground (are also empty, tail-heavy). This is reinforced even more when loading
the models. So far, this effect could not really be implemented in all flight simulators without the
model behaving like this in the air. It has been possible to implement this effect reasonably well.
Therefore the loading as well as the trim should be correct. Because with max. fuel and overload it
can happen that the soloys tilt backwards on the ground. Depending on the starting situation, it may
be that you have the effect. Remedy: Simply check the fuel quantity and load and reduce if
necessary.

Cockpit: The two artificial horizons (main and backup) are driven differently - the main via vacuum
and the backup via the electrical bus system. When the battery is switched on, only the backup
wakes up from deep sleep (if the lock/ cage is not switched on). Only when the engine is started does
the Main move out of the parking position, since the vacuum pump only runs when the engine is
switched on. Before starting, do not forget to set the reference needles on both horizons using the
control wheel.

Taxiing: Release parking brake. Now you just have to try out what performance is suitable. That's a
bit tricky, because now you can quickly notice how slowly the engine reacts to changes in power.

Trim: Before the first take off, something important about the trim: The Soloy is still rather top-heavy
in flight despite the inclination to the rear. For the start, trim in the tail-heavy direction, then the bow
also comes up quickly - set the pointer on the grey bar on the console, then it fits.

Doors: Open and close:

Door Pilot left - Shift + E + 1
Cargo door1 right front - Shift + E + 2
Cargo door2 right rear - Shift + E + 3
Skydiver Roller Curtain - Shift + E + 4 (Skydive models only)

Note: With Autostart, there is unfortunately the bug that doors cannot be opened using key
combinations. Therefore, manual engine start is strongly recommended.

3.1 Textures and notes for repainters

A total of 12 repaints were created for the nine different models. The textures are always the same
for all models (except the Mil version). Just note that the float versions require an additional texture
for the floats (Soloy2_T.dds) and the transport versions have an additional texture
(Soloy_cabin_load.dds) for loading.

In the Texture.Common folder of the Cessna T206H Soloy MK2 Custom you can find all textures used
by all models. Editing the textures there has an effect on all models. If you want to use textures from
this folder for your own repaints, the changed textures should be in the texture folder of the repaint.
The simulator then loads it first and ignores the texture in the Texture.Common folder.
A repaint kit is not included, but can be downloaded from www.sim-outhouse.com
Note: Unfortunately the floats are mirrored on the texture. This means that no text or logos can be
used on the texture Soloy2_T.dds.
