DISCUSSION

2.1 Museum Overview November 10, Surabaya

Surabaya, which is now developing as a Metropolis city has a myriad of historical
stories. One of them is Suroboyo's ardent struggle against the invaders. Nothing wrong if the
city is called a city of Heroes. The hero monument is one of its icons. This monument is not
enough to talk about the story of Suroboyo arek-arek struggle on 10 November 1945.
However, the existence of a museum located behind the monument can talk a lot. The
museum is named after the museum November 10, Surabaya. Perhaps not everyone,
especially the residents of Surabaya itself knows the existence of the Museum 10 November
located in the Heroes Monument Jalan Pahlawan, Surabaya.
In fact, in the museum consisting of two floors there is a genuine recording of Bung
Tomo's speech that aroused the surge and desire and spirit of society to maintain the
independence that can be heard from an ancient radio. one of the residents of Sidoarjo who
visited with his family claimed his visit was the first time. "I was the first time to come here,
before I knew it from the stories," he said. He admitted to visit this monument in addition to
traveling also invites his son to know the hero characters. Because, in the museum there are
many relics and historical stories. But when Bhirawa went inside, he saw a static diorama
illustrating the action of the heroism of Suroboyo's arek-arek who only by using a simple
weapon of bamboo spear was able to win the battle against the invaders.
In this Museum, there are also some reliefs depicting the battle of 10 November. One
of the nurses of this museum, one of the nurses of this museum, stood up straight, bowed, and
some were killed by a bullet shot. In this museum, we can also hear langsug screaming spirit
of Bung Tomo during a speech. Described how allied soldiers who came to colonize the
Indonesian earth again. The echo of takbir that buzzed Bung Tomo instantly made the spirit
of arek-arek burned. "This sound is genuine voice of Bung Tomo, so is the radio, also belong
to him," he said. Beside the place there are weapons used arek-arek Suroboyo while fighting.
Three bamboo spikes as tall as 1.5 meters. The bamboo ends of this bamboo became a
weapon fighters against the weapons of the ally who are technologically advanced.
According to the local community, this bamboo before the war was given asthma or
spell-jampi. Then at the end of the visit will be treated to performances films in one of the
museum space. Some movies about the struggle, one of them is Janur Kuning. Satisfied to
visit the museum, visitors can sit relaxed beside the monument hero.

2.2 Museum Buildings November 10 Surabaya

Museum 10 November is located in the complex Tugu Pahlawan Surabaya. Precisely
to the north of the monument. If we enter from the direction of the main door in the south, to
go to the museum just go north through the monument. We will see 3 roofs of a rectangular
prism-shaped building or a rectangular tumpeng lined up.
2
The largest roof building is in the middle. The third form of the prism building is
composed of 3 sections up to the top of which each shaped prism as well. The largest bottom,
the middle is smaller, and the peak is the smallest. The top two levels are made of glass
arrangement. This prism building is the museum.
The location of this museum is quite unique as well. The three prism buildings appear
to be embedded and poking from the ground. Yes, this museum is basically ground floor
made down underground so that the second floor and the roof looks at the ground. When we
are about to enter, large stones hang out with gallantly confront us. On the stone it says: "The
next generation: Without the battle of Surabaya, the history of the nation and the State of
Indonesia will be different." An affirmation that the battle of Surabaya has an important role
in the history of the struggle of the Indonesian nation.
The museum entrance goes underground. At the entrance of this visitors buy tickets
for 1000 rupiah. Very cheap when compared with the contents of this museum. Then in the
entrance hall there is an inscription of the inauguration of the museum. Apparently the
Museum 10 November newly inaugurated February 19, 2000 by President Abdurrahman
Wahid alias Dus Dur. In fact, this historical museum was built from 10 November 1991 and
only functioned on 10 November 1998.
Entering the museum, we will be treated to a diorama along the entrance way down.
On the entrance wall were the names of the heroes inscribed in the copper plates. Up on the
ground floor, we will see pictures of the 10 November battle in Surabaya. There is also a
diorama of Suroboyo arek-arek atmosphere while listening to Bung Tomo's heroic speech on
the historic radio. There was also a photograph of a Surabaya character named Cak Durasim
who has a fascination with the struggle: "Bekupon omahe doro, melu Nippon plus soro"
(Bekupon his pigeon house, join Nippon added miserable). Who is Cak Durasim? He was a
figure of struggle in Surabaya during the Japanese occupation who struggled through ludruk
art. A performing arts typical of Surabaya or East Java. In the center of the room was a battle
statue of Suroboyo's arek-arek.
Next up to the 2nd floor, we are often treated to a static diorama in the main room and
dynamic diorama that is entered in the rooms room. Inside the main hall are many of Bung
Tomo's personal items such as the Iboe flag of the Poesat East Java Rebellion Army (of Bung
Tomo rebellion against the invaders), daggers and Bung Tomo rifles, Bung Tomo radio, even
Bung Tomo handwriting. The handwriting with this pencil seems clearly legible.
On the other hand there are a variety of short barrel rifles and barrel used by the fighters.
There are also rifles that are the result of booty from the invaders. In the static diorama room,
we will see a diorama accompanied by sounds of music and speeches of struggle and colored
lights. So more life atmosphere dioramanya. In addition, from 10 November 2010, the plan
belongs to Bung Tomo car that has been in the child Bung Tomo (Bambang Sulitomo) will be
donated to this museum. Old model Opel sedan car.
Once satisfied enjoy the museum, we can exit through the exit. Well, on the exit there
is a place that sells Tugu Pahlawan trinkets and handicrafts themed Surabaya. For example,
T-shirt Tugu Pahlawan and the city of Surabaya, board Suro-Boyo logo, replica ship, and so
forth. I also bought a board logo Surabaya city to display in the bifet house as a memento.
Understandably, because I live in Surabaya. Here are the pictures.

2.3 The Museum Situation November 10 Today
Perhaps not everyone, especially the residents of Surabaya itself knows the existence
of the Museum 10 November located in the Heroes Monument Jalan Pahlawan, Surabaya. In
fact, in the museum consisting of two floors there is a genuine recording of Bung Tomo's
speech that aroused the surge and desire and spirit of society to maintain the independence
that can be heard from an ancient radio. Even some static dioramas depict the action of
heroism Surekoyo arek-arek, which only by using a simple weapon of bamboo spears capable
of winning the battle against the invaders.
The 10 November Museum, inaugurated in 2000, is the pride of the courage of
Suroboyo's arek-arek in the heroic battle of 10 November 1945. Unfortunately, in this Hero
City not all Surabaya residents know of that history. Even people just look at buildings that
decorate the city without meaning and meaning.
One of the visitors of the 10 November Museum which is also the 6th grader of SD
Muhammadiyah 10 Balong Bendo Sidoarjo, admitted that he was the first time to know the
museum under the monument of Heroes. "I do not know because this is the first time to come
here," Ifan while visiting the Museum 10 November along with other elementary school
students. During this time, Ifan confess only know figure of national hero Bung Tomo from
history lesson in school. However, he himself did not know the correlation between Tugu
Pahlawan, Museum 10 November with Bung Tomo figures themselves. The same is also
expressed by other students, Yunus. He confessed, got knowledge about Tugu Pahlawan not
from his teacher but from his parents. "But I have never been invited by my father to come
here," Yunus said innocently.
Meanwhile, Principal of SD Muhammadiyah 10 Balong Bendo Sidoarjo, Ahmad Irjik,
said that this visit is the first time held in his school. "This is an extracurricular activity or
activity outside the classroom, we hope that with this activity, students' insights will
increase," he said. He himself admitted that there are still many students who are not too
aware of Bung Tomo's lunge in his struggle against invaders in Surabaya. For that, he said, in
addition to holding extracurricular activities, it also added a history lesson especially the
struggle of Bung Tomo and arek-arek Suroboyo in the fight against the Allied Army on 10
November 1945.

CHAPTER III
COVER

3.1 Conclusions
Based on the above discussion, it can be concluded that in reality Surabaya has a
myriad of places worth to visit. Because Surabaya is one of the cities that became the battle
of the people of Indonesia in fighting for independence. This can be seen in the reliefs and
collections available at Museum 10 November Surabaya. But the unfortunate is the lack of
attention of Indonesian society, especially surabaya and surrounding communities. This is
evident from the still many people who do not know what the museum 10 nevember surabaya,
and any collection that is in it.
This is the question, how the role of local government in Surabaya utilize and
introduce this museum as an educational tourist attractions. That means we not only seek
entertainment, but we can also learn to appreciate the services of our heroes in the struggle
for Indonesian independence. Especially now, the museum is increasingly less known or less
well known by the public, although the price of admission is very affordable, ie only a
thousand rupiah. And if we compare with the benefits after visiting the museum terrsebut,
very much the difference. Therefore, it is expected that the schools to participate in
introducing the museum ten november to the students so that they learn to appreciate the
services of the heroes who fought for the struggle for the independence of the Republic of
Indonesia.
