Abstract: Both in Peru and abroad the low academic performance of the higher
level is an alarming concern since it is they who do badly the use of social
networks, such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter, in that sense it was
considered as a theoretical approach main influence of social networks and
academic performance. This research tried to answer the following question:
What is the influence of the use of social networks on the academic performance
of higher level students in Peru? The methodology of this research was
developed from empirical references, which were identified and selected by
compiling a list of 13 titles in order to determine the influence of the use of social
networks on the academic performance of higher level students. The strategies
used were directly from the database of empirical articles, each a single
measurement instrument; the polls. The main result was positive influence:
acquisition of new knowledge, shared information, different study methodologies,
new learning opportunities and a collective construction in university students; as
well as negative influences were determined: Addiction, failed subjects, poor
grades, lack of attention in class and many faults
