This environment – along with poorly defined
business cases and misunderstanding of
risk – is contributing directly to project
failure. However, what is apparent from our
research is the value of formal project reviews.
While reviews do not eliminate all potential
project issues, they are instrumental in
avoiding actual project failure; a topic we will
explore in more detail later in this report.

Project management excellence
