HOMONHON ISLAND
Location: Southeast of Guiuan, 60 nautical miles from
Tacloban.
Description: Tiny island where Ferdinand Magellan and his
men first set foot on Philippine soil on March 16, 1521
viewing of the historic Magellan plaque/marker.

PAHUNGAW FALLS
It is a multi-level falls where you'll find a natural pool in
each level. There's also a pool right under the falls where
you can relax or get a water massage. And at the end part
of the falls is a spot where you can jump.

DIVINUBO ISLAND
Location: A 3-sq. Kilometer island in Brgy. Lalawigan,
Borongan.
Description: It has a crystal-clear water, white beach,
swaying palm trees, multi-colored fish and corals beneath;
best suited for scuba diving and swimming.
HAMORAWON SPRING
Location: At the heart of the town of Borongan.
Description: A natural spring said to be miraculous. This
spring as the Boronganons say, is full of legend that
whoever takes a bath in this cool spring, especially
foreigners, will surely go home with a Boronganon wife.
Around this spring is a Spanish built stone wall.

• GUIUAN WORLD WAR II OPERATING BASE


Location: Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Description: It has a three-kilometer runway that could
service even jet-propelled planes; constructed by WWII US
Navy in 1944. During the Liberation of the Philippines, it
was the airstrip of war planes; now a good picnic area.
• SULANGAN BEACH
Location: 24 kms. from the town proper of Guiuan.
Description: Habitat of the world famous "Golden Cowrie";
an ideal site for deep sea fishing, scuba diving; multi-
colored school of fishes is a common sight
KANTICAN ISLAND (PEARL ISLAND)
Location: Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Description: It is a pearl culture farm; a haven of rich
marine life such as lobsters, shells, fishes, abalones,
corals; clear blue waters and immaculate white coral
beach; perfect site for scuba diving, fishing and swimming.
SAPAO BEACH
Location: 14 kms. from Guiuan.
Description: Beautiful beach with white sand and shells of
various kinds and colors; viewing of the Pacific Ocean;
ideal for swimming.
Location: Borongan, Eastern Samar.
Description: Has a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean;
an excellent place for fishing, scuba diving, surfing,
swimming.

Binagol from Eastern Samar
Binagol is pronounced with a longer stress on the "a". Binagol is
made of a root crop named Talyan, coconut milk and sugar. It is
then molded into a coconut shell. Binagol is quite sweet with the
distinct tast of the root crop.

Moron from Eastern Samar


Moron is pronounced like Morong. Moron is like the regular
suman but the rice is cooked in coconut milk and mixed with a
bit of cocoa. The Moron has the similar consistency of the suman
and the cocoa enhances the taste. Moron is so soft that you can
cut the small tube with a pair of scissors down the middle and
just squeeze it out. You can go through a lot really quick.
Suman Biliran from Biliran
The tasty suman of Naval of different flavors like the tinambiran
(a combination of white and brown glutinous rice), plain white
suman and suman with mango marmalade are emerging
nowadays. It has gathered thousands of orders at a trade fair last

Papaya Pickles from Biliran


Produced from fresh green mature papaya mixed with other
fresh vegetables, such as carrots, green and red bell peppers
preserved in natural coco vinegar. Comes in 250 gram bottles.

The Legend of the Miraculous Lady in White Lurking in


Eastern Samar's Hamorawan Spring
Every September 7 or 8, Borongan City celebrates an early
morning mass in a quaint chapel at Barangay Punta Maria. The

mass signifies that the Padul-ong Festival has officially started.
