I. OBJECTIVES:
Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literatures and other text types serve as
vehicles of expressing and resolving conflicts among individuals or groups; also how to use strategies in critical
reading, listening, and viewing, and affirmation and negation markers to deliver impromptu and extemporaneous
speeches.

Performance Standards:
The learner proficiently delivers an argumentative speech emphasizing how to resolve conflicts
among individuals or groups.

Specific Objectives:
A. Read and learn what argumentative essay is.
B. Classify the characteristics and parts of an argumentative essay.
C. Write own argumentative essay.

A. Review
 Recall and enumerate the aggressive driving actions and why it should be avoided?

B. Purpose of the Lesson


 (Different pictures will be shown.) What can you say about the pictures? Can you give a word
that defines in the picture?

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson


 Remember the text you read yesterday? It is an example of argumentative essay. (Present and
read another example of argumentative essay.)

D. Discussion of the Lesson


 Discussion of what is argumentative essay is, as well as its characteristics and parts.

 Task 11 IDENTIFY AND CLASSIFY!
From the model argumentative essay, identify its parts by rewriting the essential statements in
the box.

F. Finding practical application


 Can you give a topic that you consider you can make an argumentative essay? It can be news,
events or your own experiences. Explain briefly.

G. Making generalizations and abstractions


 Recall, what is argumentative essay? What about its characteristics and parts?

H. Evaluating learning
 Write your own short argumentative essay and categorize its part.
