THE PROBLEM AND RESEARCH DESIGN

Introduction

Smoking seemed to be so influential among people that whenever

and wherever you faced, you can see an individual with the

cylindrical stick on his/her hand and inhaling the dangerous smoke

coming from the addictive solid labelled as “Cigarette”.

Cigarette greatly affects an individual on its effects. As

what the doctors have stated, cigarette is known to be the killer

of its user and the people around it for it is recorded as the

leading cause of lung cancer, heart attack, stroke and other long

term diseases. It is also examined as one of the barriers on

environmental preservation and also affects an individual in its

financial status and society.

In Poblacion, Bayugan City, major percent of the residents

are counted as users of the said inhalant and also has the

increasing population of the victims of secondhand smoking. It has

also been recorded that the users and secondhand smokers have

recognized sudden effects of cigarette use in their health and

also can affect them financially due to extreme addiction. Despite

the increasing prices of this product, their determination to buy

is inevitable. In this research, we are going to identify other

effects that can ruin the life of an individual due to severe use

of cigarette.

Conceptual Framework

The conceptual framework of this study was based on the

corollary of cigarette smoking among users and second hand smokers

in Purok 8, Mayapis Street, Poblacion, Bayugan City. The

independent variables were the abortifacient property and

therapeutic property of ginger while the dependent variable was

the awareness of the maternal effects of ginger during the period

of pregnancy.
