Candidates can get an idea of the marks they need to obtain in the exam to qualify
in GATE 2018 from the tables given below. However, the GATE cutoff scores for
PSU recruitment or M.Tech admissions will be dependent on the PSU or the
institute to which the candidate is applying to.

Starting 2017, IITs have designed a common offer acceptance portal (COAP) to
enable candidates to check heir admission letters at one place. All GATE 2018
qualified must apply to the IITs of their choice, register through COAP and check
the admission offer letters at GATE COAP. They must accept the offer that suits
them best and complete the admission formalities at the respective IIT.
IIT Guwahati has announced the GATE 2018 official answer key for all papers and
sessions along with the corresponding question papers. Candidates can use the
given GATE answer key 2018 to cross check their answers and calculate their
probable scores. Candidates who have appeared for the GATE exam can now login
through GOAPS and check their recorded responses. The final answer key of
GATE 2018 is available from March 13, 2018. IIT Guwahati has announced the
same on February 14. The answer key of GATE 2018 have been announced by
leading coaching centres like GateForum, The GATE Academy, ACE Academy
and Made Easy after the conclusion of the test on each of the four dates.

PSU Recruitment accepting GATE score
Candidates who are preparing for the exam can check the paper pattern of GATE
2018 to know the subjects, topics covered, marks distribution, duration of test from
the table given below:
Number of Papers: There are 23 Papers. The candidates have to appear for the
examination as per their selected discipline.
Total Marks: The test will be held for total of 100 Marks.
Design of Questions: The questions are designed to test the following abilities:
Recall, Comprehension, Application, Analysis and Synthesis
Negative Marking - Yes, there is negative marking. 1/3 marks to be deducted for
incorrect responses in the questions carrying 1 mark. 2/3 marks to be deducted for
incorrect responses in the questions carrying a weightage of 2 marks. Therer is no
negative marking for NAT questions.
Distribution of Questions in All Papers except AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and
XL: Engineering Mathematics - 15% (15 Marks), Technical Questions - 70% (70
Marks), General Aptitude - 15% (15 Marks)
Part A consists of 25 questions and each question carries 1 mark. Both sections
(Section 1 and Section 2 ) of Part B consists of 30 questions each carrying 2 marks
each.
GATE 2018 is being held for 23 subjects (papers). The syllabus of GATE 2018 for
each branch is different. Candidates who are preparing for GATE 2018 must check
the detailed syllabus for the paper which they wish to appear for. It is a known fact
that the syllabus is broadly based on the topics covered in graduation. GATE 2018
syllabus for General Aptitude paper is common for all papers and based on verbal
& numerical ability.
