Hot Thermal Insulation

Hot thermal insulation is used for energy conservation,

process requirements and personnel protection.

Hot thermal insulation systems can be used for surfaces

between +15 0C and + 1760 0C. Commonly used insulation
materials are known as glass wool, rock wool, mineral
SERVICES

wool, ceramic wool and polyurethane.

The insulation material is then covered by wrapping or

jacketing with aluminum, stainless steel, coated metal
sheets, PVC or silicone for mechanical resistance and for a
vapor barrier.

Hot thermal insulation applications are boilers, heat

recovery steam generators, turbine housings, hot water
installations, hot oil installations, heating or drying ovens,
steam and condensate lines, stacks, storage tanks, process
equipment, piping and ducting.
Cold Thermal Insulation

Cold thermal insulation is often used for the process

demands of cryogenic systems, food and beverage
industries and similar cold processes.

Insulation substances are products known as polyurethane

foam, polyisocyanurate foam, cellular glass, perlite and the
like, in combination with vapor barriers and metal
SERVICES

claddings

Among application areas are LNG plants, liquefied gas

processing facilities, air separation units, cold boxes, urea
and fertilizer complexes, production and storage
requirements of food and beverage plants, cold storage
tanks and cold depots.
Polyurethane Injection (jacketing)
Polyurethane Spraying
Thermal insulation by hard foam polyurethane spraying is
applied on all surfaces internally or externally, at
temperatures between – 60 0C and +90 0C.

Application is done by either pressure injection of foam on

a pre-jacketed surface or by direct pressure spraying onto
SERVICES

the surface to be insulated.

Teknopur is the leading company in Turkey with its high

pressure polyurethane spray machines and with its
competent teams for all shop or in-situ applications .

Polyurethane hard foam injection technic is commonly

used for cold tanks, carbon dioxide tanks, ammonia tanks,
liquefied gas tanks , cold pipes, cooling units, cold depots,
freeze rooms and floors, roofs and facades that require
cold insulation.
Sound Insulation

Sound insulation applications consist of three sections:

Sound absorbent applications:

Aims to ensure the reduction of the sound from outer
environment to accepted levels in silent areas such as meeting
halls, lecture halls or health centers.
SERVICES

Reduction of environmental noise:

Applied for the purpose of reducing the heavy noise to
international standards, in order to prevent people's
psychological and physical health, who are located in noisy
closed areas.

Acoustic insulation:

Applied to regulate the echo period of sound, according to

requirements of specific areas, where the sound comfort is
important, in places such as theatres, concert halls sound
recording studios.
Electrical Heat Tracing

Serious heat losses occurs at pipes, tanks, instruments,

valves and pumps surfaces with the effect of ambient
temperature.
Heat Tracing is recycling the amount of heat lost to the
surface again by an external source from the surfaces of
the equipment.

Overview of the oil and gas sector in Turkey
Pipelines

Turkey is playing an increasingly important role in the transit of oil and gas
supplies to Europe from Russia, the Caspian region and the Middle East.
Following the start of the Blue Stream, Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan and Nabucco
pipeline projects, Turkey has become an integral part of the international oil
and gas market.
Overview of the oil and gas sector in Turkey
Pipelines
The “East-West” gas
pipeline projects which
are envisaged to bring
gas from Caspian and
the Middle East to
Europe through Turkey
are referred to
“Southern Gas
Corridor” (SGC).

South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Natural Gas

Pipeline (BTE), Turkey-Greece Interconnector (ITG) are existing pipelines.
Trans--Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic-
Pipeline (TAP) are planned projects.
Ceyhan (Yumurtalık) Marine Terminal is planned to be an oil trading hub.
Overview of the oil and gas sector in Turkey
Turkey’s energy strategy
Turkey’s ambitious vision for 2023, envisages grandiose targets for the
energy sector in Turkey. These targets include:

Raising the total installed power capacity to 120 GW

Increasing the share of renewables to 30 percent
Increasing the installed capacity based on wind power to 20,000 MW
Installing power plants that will provide 1,000 MW of geothermal and
5,000 MW of solar energy
Extending the length of transmission lines to 60,717 km
Reaching a power distribution unit capacity of 158,460 MVA
Extending the use of smart grids
Raising the natural gas storage capacity to more than 5 billion m3
Commissioning nuclear power plants (two operational nuclear power
plants, with a third under construction)
Increasing the coal-fired installed capacity from the current level of
15.9 GW to 30 GW
Overview of the oil and gas sector in Turkey
Turkey’s energy strategy

By the end of 2015, the

installed power capacity of
Turkey has almost reached
74.000 MW.

Rafineries in Turkey

Existing Rafineries in Turkey are :

Central Anatolian Refinery (Tüpraş), 100,000 bbl/d (16,000 m3/d)
Izmit Refinery (Tüpraş), 226,000 bbl/d (35,900 m3/d)

Overview of the oil and gas sector in Turkey
Natural Gas Storage

Turkey's first underground natural gas storage facility

in Silivri.is operated by the Turkish Petroleum
Corporation (TPAO).
The second one will be put into operation in Lake
Tuz.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources is
developing projects to store around 10 percent of the
imported natural gas in Turkey every year over the
next five years.
Overview of the oil and gas sector in Turkey
LNG Storage

Currently, Turkey has only two plants to gasify LNG and pump it
to the gas network — one in Silivri, near Istanbul, and another at
Aliaga, on the country’s western coast.
Turkey faces another major problem: It is able to store only 5% of
the gas it consumes, the lowest storage capacity in the whole of
Europe. Hence Turkey is seen as the country most vulnerable to
a possible cut in supplies.
Overview of the oil and gas sector in Turkey
CO emission limits and CF Plants Rehabilitation

To improve energy efficiency, an effective approach was taken to

improve the maintenance and control capacity of the power plant
employees in conjunction with measures to recover the performance
of depreciated power facilities through rehabilitation (renewal).
Presently, the priority issue for EUAS is to rehabilitate thermal power
plants that have been in operation for 20 to 25 years.
There is a high need to improve the energy efficiency of its coal-fired
thermal power plants, while keeping in mind the effective use of coal,
one of its few domestic resources, global environmental problems,
and EU membership.
