Woodfin Donates to
Hurricane Relief Effort
On Tuesday, October 16th, WTVR CBS 6 News hos-
ted a telethon to raise funds for American Red Cross
Virginia Region Hurricane Relief.

Along with the Richmond Police Department, local

public figures and journalists helped field calls to
collect donations for those affected by the aftermath
of hurricane Michael.

In just one and a half hours, over 7K was raised.

WOODFIN MATCHES 25K RAISED DURING AMERICAN
RED CROSS VIRGINIA REGION HURRICANE RELIEF
TELETHON.
Woodfin also matched the final donation of $25,000
to help better our community in a very impactful
way with a total of over $50,000 raised through the
telethon..

org.

On Sunday, October 7th, JDRF Central Virginia

Woodfin cheered on parti-
cipants in the JDRFCVC One Chapter One Walk Day
Walk.

The foundation helps raise

awareness and funding for
juvinile diabetes research to
make living with T1D safer
and healthier.

The walk raised $370,910 for

scientific research to better
treat, prevent, and ultimate-
ly cure type 1 diabetes.

Vehicles at 13th Annual
Touch-a-Truck Fundraiser

CHILDREN PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL TRUCK EVENT

TO BENEFIT JUNIOR LEAGUE OF RICHMOND

On Saturday, October 20th, we hosted our 13th

annual unique and interactive event, Touch-a-Truck
at the Richmond Raceway. Children got to see,
touch, and safely explore their favorite big trucks
and heavy machinery, as well as meet the
personnel who protect, servce, and build the
Richmond community.

Local sports mascots joined us to showcase the

vehicles on display; including tractors, backhoes,
emergency responders, tractor trailers, utility trucks,
and a helicopter.

Proceeds from the event supported the work of the

Junior League of Richmond and their community
programs.

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.

The beautiful weather fairway-

ed well for golfers this year in
the 12th annual charity tour-
nament for the Edward J.
Davenport and John H.
Woodfin Memorial Scholars-
hip on Monday, October 29th.
Over 150 participants teed off
at The Country Club of Virgi-
nia to help raise funds for the
scholarship program.

Participants played in teams of

four for all 18 holes and the 36
teams substaintally and ge-
nerously raised funds for the
program while enjoying a
gorgeous day and some deli-
cious food on the course and
at the club.

Although fun was had by all,

the reigning team was Sona
Bank's Phil Hager, Bruce Broc-
kwell, Rick Falk, and Kevin
Reid.

Meet the Recipients of the Edward J.
Davenport and John H. Woodfin
Memorial Scholarship
Ed Davenport believed in giving people the opportunity to succeed. He believed that education and training
are pillars from which individual success is developed. John Woodfin was an exceedingly generous man who
was genuinely interested in the welfare of the people around him. He felt fortunate that his sucess as a
businessman allowed him to contribute to the prosperity of so many people beyond his immediate family.
Our challenge is to build on the inspiration they gave to us and enable others the opportunity to strive for
new heights.

Through generous donations as well as funds raised through our Annual Golf Tournament, and the Edward J.
Davenport and John H. Woodfin Memorial Scholarship Fund, the company is able to offer several
scholarships to deserving students. The scholarship is open to all EMC, Woodfin, Woodie’s, Tribble Electric,
and Gamewell employees, their children and their spouses who are currently pursuing highter education.
This year, there were five recipients of $2,000 scholarships.

Willie Sadler, son of Andy Meredith Vay, daughter

be attending William and Mary this
fall. My Studies will focus on the
mathematics and computer science
fields. My interests include running,
reading, and cooking. At school next
year, I hope to join some sort of
service club and participate in intramural sports.
Bailey Gregory, daughter of
Charles Anothony Gregory,
Woodfin Plumbing: I am a sopho-
more at the University of Alabama
in Huntsville studying aerospace
engineering. At school, I am the
club secretary for both Space
Hardware Club and the Women’s
Ultimate Frisbee Team. I also work
with admissions as a Charger Representative. Next
Summer, I hope to have an internship at NASA or
another aerospace company in Huntsville.

IT: Thank you so much
for choosing me to be the
recipient of the Edward
J. Davenport and John H.
Woodfin Memorial Scholar-
ship! I graduated from the University of South
Carolina in May of this year with a 3.944 cumu-
lative GPA. I was a swimmer at USC and my top
accomplishments include placing 3rd at the
SEC Championship in the 200-yard freestyle
and competing at the 2016 Olympic Trial Swim
Meet in the 50-meter freestyle. I am currently
enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy pro-
gram at VCU, and will graduate in May of 2021.
My dream job is to work as a physical therapist
for a professional or collegiate sports team.

 Jonah Kencade Whitman, son of Larry Whitman,
GMI: Jonah recently graduated from Rosman High
School and plans on attending the University of Nor-
th Carolina at Charlotte in August. He plans to major
in finance and become a financial planner/ While
in High School, Jonah excelled in academics and in
sports (basketball and golf). He was a member of the
Future Business Leaders of America and a member of
the National Honor Society as well as the Technical Honor Society.
Jonah has participated in a number of organizations throughout
high school and held a number of leadership positions. These in-
cluded being a Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader for his school
and vice-president for his county’s youth council. He was also highly
involved in his local chapter of YoungLife Christian camp in Oregon.
Jonah currently runs his own and was selected by his classmates as
being the most likely to “earn a million dollars”. His peers also chose
him as “Mr. Rosman High School”. Jonah is very appreciative of his
scholarship.

Afrata Waugh, daughter of Abeba Waugh, Pit Stop: I am

a Graduate of Caroline High School. In my free time, I enjoy
spending time with my friends and family. I also love to go
on social media to catch up with old friends and see things
that interest me like clothes and makeup. When I am not
on social media, I love to watch documentaries; I especially
enjoy ones about World War I. I am beginning Germanna
Community College in the Fall. I want to go to college not
only to further my education, but also to find something
that I am passionate about. I feel I’ll have a better chance
in the workforce than someone who did not go to college.
College will help me to meet new people and get involved
in things like clubs and sports., which was something I did
not get a chance to do in High School.

 Woodfin Welcomes Tribble Electric to Our
Family of Companies
As of August 1st Woodfin has officially partnered with Glen Allen-based electrical contractor, Trib-
ble Electric. We are so excited to have an additional commercial electrical resource to expand our
available services to the community. "We are looking forward to the new growth potential of Tribble
Electric now that we are part of the Woodfin Family," said President, Steve Tribble. "We now have
the advantage of a elite network of professionals at the ready for all of our business needs. I am so
proud of our affiliation with Woodfin and hope to continue to uphold the 1st class reputation the
Woodfin companies enjoy."

On Saturday, October 26th, Steve and Dody Tribble hosted their annual farm party at their residence
in Ashland. Employees, family members , and business partners alike enjoyed live music, food, and
fun!

Summer Internship Program
In what is becoming an annual affair, Woo-
dfin’s Summer Internship Program was a
great success. We were able to host two
extraordinary interns to work with and
learn from our Marketing and Accounting
& Finance teams.

Our Marketing Intern, Bridget Prybyla, has

returned to Virginia Tech to complete her
Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing
and Management. Our Accounting & Fi-
nance Intern, Timothy Houghton, is com-
pleting his Associate of Science degree
in Business Administration at Reynolds
Community College and will be attending
VCU beginning Spring 2019 to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business.

A special thanks goes out to Kelly Williams and Jennifer Loving, as well as the rest of the Marketing
and Accounting & Finance teams, for their continued support of our internship program. If you belie-

SpeakUp5K
Team members partnered up with the
Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation on
Saturday, September 8th for the 5th
annual Speak Up 5K.

The race was created fulfill Cameron's

dream of spreading awareness for tee-
nage depression and anxiety and en-
courage those struggling with personal
battles to have the confidence to 'speak
up'.

Employee News
Bridget Santini, Pit Stop IT and her family celebrate Happy
Transplant Day! on June 14th. Each year, along with friends
and family, they celebrate how many years that her daughter,
Mya, has been post-transplant. It has been eight years since
she had her liver transplant in 2010. Mya was able to repre-
sent Woodfin and throw the first pitch at the Flying Squirrels
game. She was welcomed by her best friend Bri with a sign
for everyone to see. She also got a picture with her brother,
Mason, and the Flying Squirrels mascots, Nutzy and Nutasha!
