Winter 2019
Register NOW.
Registration for the Winter 2019 semester begins on
November 12, 2018. We highly encourage you to
register as early as you can. Early registration
ensures that you have a seat in popular classes. It
also ensures that we know which classes are likely
to enroll at proper capacity, so we do not have to
cancel classes.
There are a lot of great choices for Winter 2018,
especially these three classes which are new and
ready to roll:
• PUB 525—Fundamentals of Nonprofit
Organizations. Mondays, 7-9:45 pm, Saks
McManaway. This foundational class for the
Nonprofit and Social Entrepreneurship
concentration covers the legal and regulatory
requirements for nonprofits. Will not be offered
again until the 2020-21 academic year.
• PUB 530—Criminal Justice Policy. Thursdays, 7-
9:45 pm, Wade-Olson. This foundational class
for the Criminal Justice concentration
introduces theories of criminology and their
application in a public administration setting.
Will not be offered again until Spring 2020.
• PUB 548—Social Entrepreneurship. Mondays,
5:30-6:45 (mixed mode), Nas. Social
entrepreneurship is a way of using for profit
business structures to make social change. Learn
more about this powerful method of
changemaking. Will not run again until the 2020-
21 academic year.

What is the Plan of Work?
Your Plan of Work is a map to guide you through
your career in the MPA Program.
Why should I care about the Plan of Work now?
If you are a new student or do not have a Plan of
Work on file, you will need to complete one with an
advisor before you are allowed to register for Winter
2019 and beyond.
Should you update your Plan of Work?
While you aren’t required to update every semester,
if you have made significant deviations from the Plan
of Work, it’d be wise to complete a new one with
your advisor.
