Welcome to the 2018 EQUALUX: TASTE of GSBA! This is GSBA’s 21st year of gathering our
community in support of the GSBA Scholarship Fund and we are delighted to share this
evening with you as your co-chairs!

Tonight, we want you to be well entertained, wined, and dined. We want you to
enjoy connecting with each other. Most of all, we want you to remember why we are
gathered together: The GSBA Scholarship Fund is the vibrant heart of our organization
and it’s your support that allows us to accomplish the mission of investing in our

Producer
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he’s been fortunate
enough to travel the world curating unique events and
experiences. He currently resides in New York City, but loves
that sensible bi-coastal life. While based in Seattle for nearly
a decade, he worked with some of the most creative and
generous artists at The 5th Avenue Theatre, Village Theatre,
Seattle Children’s Theatre, ACT, Showtunes Theatre Company, ForwardFlux,
Intiman, Contemporary Classics, and The Endangered Species Project. He

Ryan Dunn
Lighting Designer
Ryan Dunn is a Seattle-based lighting and scenic designer
for theater, dance, and events whose work has been seen
recently at Book-it Repertory, Intiman, On the Boards,
Pacific Northwest Ballet, Washington Ensemble Theater,
Village Theatre, and ArtsWest, among others. Ryan is a
graduate of University of Washington, the Resident Designer
for The Horse in Motion, a company member of Washington Ensemble
Theatre, and an affiliate artist with Umbrella Project.

Tonight’s Talent
Arnaldo! Drag Chanteuse
Arnaldo! started as a soloist with the Seattle Men’s Chorus
(SMC) and has performed with SMC in some of the major
concert halls in the U.S., Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.
In 1995, Arnaldo! started a group called Cabaret Q where
the “drag chanteuse” persona began. In 1999, Arnaldo!
began his solo cabaret shows on Seattle’s Capitol Hill and
has since performed his one person cabaret in Portland,
Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Puerto Vallarta, New York, and Manila. Arnaldo!
has also collaborated with various directors, choreographers, and songwriters
in the Seattle area. In 2005, he completed the Cabaret Summer Conference
Workshop at Yale University. In 2006, a group of cabaret performers
spearheaded by Arnaldo! started the Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association
and continues to organize “March is Cabaret Month” featuring local and
visiting artists. 2007 marked Arnaldo!’s New York cabaret debut and in 2008,
Arnaldo! was honored with a New York Backstage Bistro Award. 2014 was
Arnaldo!’s Manila debut where he received “Most Innovative Concert Artist”
in Manila by Gawad Musika. In 2016, Arnaldo! was presented by The Filipino
Community of Seattle with a Lifetime Achievement Award for promoting
culture and the arts.

Rex Gregory, saxophone.

Christina Brewer
Featured Soloist / 2005-2006 Past GSBA Scholar
At the young age of 2 1/2 , Christina took to the stage for
her first public performance. From there, it never stopped.
Today, Christina is a vocalist who travels throughout the
Pacific Northwest sharing her musical gifts at spiritual
centers, community festivals, fundraisers, and occasional
sporting events. Outside of music, she is the wife of
Seattle-based filmmaker Serena Berry, the mother of 3 year old Ezekiel,
and also the owner of Washington Wedding & Event Design.
Alexandria J. Henderson
Featured Soloist
Alexandria J. Henderson holds a BA in Music Performance.
She was most recently Elle Woods in Showtunes Theatre
Company’s concert production of Legally Blonde. Notable
performances also include Village Theatre: Dreamgirls
(Supporting Actress Gregory Award winner), Hairspray,
Into the Woods; 5th Avenue Theatre: Mamma Mia,
The Pajama Game, How to Succeed…, Little Shop.

Dani Hobbs
Featured Soloist
Dani is a local director, actor, and activist. They just
graduated from UW with a degree in Human Evolutionary
Biology. You may have recently seen them in Little Shop
of Horrors (Reboot Theatre), Hedwig and the Angry Inch
(ArtsWest Playhouse), American Idiot (ArtsWest & Lakewood
Playhouse), and Leap of Faith, Bridges of Madison County,
and Legally Blonde (Showtunes). They also recently assistant directed
KAYFABE at Ghost Light Theatricals.
Seattle Women’s Chorus
Conducted by Artistic Director Paul Caldwell—
Since their first concert appearance in 2002,
Seattle Women’s Chorus has grown to become
one of the world’s largest ensembles. More than
simply a music organization, SWC is a voice for
LGBTQ advocacy in the community. They have

had the pleasure of performing with respected artists including country
music sensation, Chely Wright, actress Kathy Najimy, and musicians such
as Vicci Martinez, and Bernice Johnson Reagon. SWC has released two
CDs: “Winternight Journeys” and “How Sweet the Sound.”
Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline
Seahawks Blue Thunder is the heartbeat of the fans. This high-energy
entertainment drumline was established in 2004 at CenturyLink Field,
performing throughout the stadium before, during, and after games.
Not your typical drumline, Blue Thunder uses a variety of rhythms and visuals,
incorporating rock and roll drumming alongside drum corps style, endearing
them to Seahawks fans of all ages. Blue Thunder is also available for parades,
parties and corporate event appearances.
Blue Thunder features Guest Drummers at rehearsals and game days as
well as an occasional joint performance on a big stage! Some of the more
prominent Guests include: Alan White (YES/John Lennon/George Harrison),
Will Calhoun (Living Colour), David Garibaldi (Tower of Power), Byron
McMackin (Pennywise), Mike Derosier (Heart), Queensryche, Steve Smith
(Journey/Vital Information), and Yuri Ruley (MxPx).
DJ Leslie Wheatley
DJ Leslie has owned her company Seattle Parties since
1998. Starting off in club and concert promotions, people
began asking her to assist in themed company parties,

John Fisher
John Fisher has been on the radio airwaves of Seattle since
1992, when he moved to the Northwest to begin a 20-year
run on the legendary, late great eclectic music station
103.7 The Mountain. During that time he interviewed scores
of musicians, from David Bowie to Paul Simon to Sting.
These days he’s the morning host on 94.1 The Sound from
5 to 9am, and he’s a voice actor on commercials and corporate multimedia
productions. He’s also a modern abstract painter who exhibits regularly
around Seattle. John lives in West Seattle with his wife Melinda, their
seven-year-old son (that’s right, John was a little late to the parenthood
game!) and their two dogs Hazel and Gizmo.

Fundraising Auctioneer Laura Michalek still relies on the
endurance and discipline she possessed when at the age
of 15, she was the first female winner of the Chicago
Marathon. While Ms. Michalek has hardly missed a day of

Use your bid number, which you have received with your bid packet, for
both the live and silent portion of the auction. Your winning bid constitutes
an agreement to purchase the item at that price. All sales are final and there
will be no exchanges or refunds on items unless otherwise noted. Please read
all detailed descriptions of items before bidding, including restrictions and
expiration dates. All items have no cash value.
Reservations for trips and vacation accommodations must be mutually
arranged with the donor unless otherwise noted. Tickets in travel packages
are for coach class unless otherwise noted. No refunds will be allowed on
travel packages for cancelled tickets and/or accommodations.
Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA) has attempted to describe
and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered “as is”. GSBA
neither warrants nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for
the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or
condition of the items. No statement made in this catalog or made orally
at the auction or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty representation

Auction Service Fee
Thank you for supporting the GSBA Scholarship Fund, which is sustainable by
your generous support. This year, in addition, most purchases will be subject
to a 5% processing fee. The fee helps offset costs associated with producing
the auction.
In particular, the fee helps cover:
1. Credit card fees charged to us by the bank
2. Computers and operators for registration and payment processing
3. Auction team services
On your statement of account, the fee will be listed as an “administrative and
data processing fee”. The service fee works by adding 5% to a purchased item
(so a $100 item is charged $105). The fee applies to all items, except: Emerald
Ticket, Celebrity Chef’s Dinner ticket and the Fund-a-Scholar donations and
pledges.
We recognize that service fees represent an additional expense for you, our
supporters. By generously accepting these fees, GSBA is able to direct as
much revenue as possible to our Scholarship Program. Thank you.

Silent Auction | Mobile Bidding | Buy It Now Features
You will receive an email or text notification when you check in which will
allow you to bid on silent auction items from anywhere. You can set the
maximum bid on an item or you can choose the buy it now option and relax,
knowing that you have the winning bid. If you don’t want to use your phone
there are BID ASSISTANTS who are in each silent section with tablets to
place your bid for you.
We have many options if you mobile bidding is not your cup of tea. Fran’s
Gold Bars, The Wine Pull, Live the Aloha Luau Tickets and several other great
items are all available by just letting the volunteers know your bid number.
Live Auction
Simply raise your bid card when you wish to bid during the Live Auction. At
the end of the bidding for each item, the auctioneer will call out the winning
number. Upon winning a Live Auction item a runner will bring a live bidder
form to your table to be signed. A signature constitutes a legal contract to buy.
Live Bidding Frenzy
During the live auction, the auctioneer will conduct a bidding frenzy.
A frenzy move fast, but is a great way for everyone to play along and raise
their paddle. You are the lucky winner if your bid number is called at the
end of the frenzy item.
Fund-a-Scholar
At this point of the live auction, you will have the opportunity to support
students from our community. Simply raise your bid number when the
amount you would like to pledge is called out. You can raise your paddle
multiple times if you wish. The amount will be automatically charged to your
account and can be paid for with your other items. 100% of your donation
goes to the Scholarship Fund and is fully tax deductible, as allowed by law.
If you would like to make your payments over the course of the year, please
ask the checkout staff to make note and we will contact you to set up
payment following the event.
Item Pick Up
All items must be paid for in full tonight. MasterCard, Visa, American Express,
personal checks, and cash are all welcome. Please make checks payable to
GSBA Scholarship Fund.
To check out, go to the cashier and state your name and bid number. Take
the voucher(s) you receive to the Checkout Area to claim your merchandise.
All items must be claimed and removed by the purchaser the night of the
auction. Larger items may be picked up on date agreed upon at check out,
and must be picked up before December 15, 2018.

Celebrating 28 Years
In 1991 the GSBA Scholarship Fund awarded its first two scholarships
totaling $5000. This year the Scholarship Fund will invest over
$400,000 in 46 students, bringing the total to $3.5 million dollars!
That would never have been possible without the help and support

This is the 4th year of the GSBA Guarantee and we will see the
largest group of scholars ever graduate having had 4 years of support. The power
of the GSBA Guarantee is not only that our scholars know that the funding they
receive will be there until they graduate; but it has created a space for them to be
