To acquire a fundamental knowledge of basic computational biology by studying, designing and
Course analyzing in silico experiments. To learn the procedure of sequence alignment and its application
Objective in molecular phylogenetics. To understand different techniques used for gene prediction and
5 creation of biological databases.
After successfully completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Review different biological databases and softwares required for computational biology.
2. Integrate data, perform DNA sequencing and interpret the results.
3. Predict protein structure, function and folding.
6 Course 4. Compute DNA-protein interaction and apply the information in drug designing.
Outcomes 5. Design and predict the function of proteins and genes by different algorithms.
6. Apply different techniques for gene prediction and motifs identification.
7. Design experiments to find ESTs and SNPs.
8. Perform genomic sequencing and determine transcription factor computational biology.
9. Retrieve date using different databases (NCBI, EMBL, SwissPort).
