parameters and time when the fault occurs, which provides great convenience in the
troubleshooting. Meanwhile, the controller implements registration management and green
shade service, thus the user can obtain the best aftersales service.
Ƹ With strong communication networking function, it can realize seamless communication
with the DCS system of our party or a third party.
a. It adopts the most common RS485 serial communication interface on site and
follows MODBUS communication protocol, thus it can conduct data exchange directly
with the PLC and DCS of any mainstream brand in the world; the operating data and
controlling parameters of each power supply can be uploaded to the host computer of DCS
through MODBUS communication protocol; alternatively, the high voltage data of several
electric fields can first be integrated to the PLC in the low voltage control system and then

outline dimensions of 600×600×2200. The color of cabinet frame is: GSB05-1426-2001 [light sea
(iron) blue], and the color of door plate is: GSB05-1426-2001 (sea grey). The cable entry mode is
divided into: top entry and bottom entry. If you have any special requirement for the outline
dimensions and colors, please put forward it when placing an order.
For the appearance of high voltage control cabinet, see attached figure (3).
2. Rectifier transformer
The rectifier transformer is an oil-immersed natural cooling type, including such two sections
as of alternating current booster and high voltage silicon bridge rectifier stack. The transformer
adopts the ri-shaped iron core (“ri” is a Chinese character), which is featured with small loss, low
temperature rise and small volume through computer-aided optimized design. The silicon rectifier
stack adopts avalanche components with long service lifetime, which can be recovered by itself
after instant breakdown and is mounted in the transformer container.
According to the series program recommended by the national standards, the rated output
direct current (average) of rectifier transformer is (unit: A): 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2,
1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0, that is, thirteen grades altogether; and the rated output direct current voltage is
(unit: KV): 40, 50, 60, 66, 72, 80, 90, 100 and 120.
For the rated current and voltage beyond the above series program, we can provide them
according to the user’s requirements.
The structural type of rectifier transformer is high impedance rectifier transformer, which is
divided into the type of cable exit at the high voltage side (outdoor type) and the type of cable exit
at the top (indoor type).
For the outline drawing of rectifier transformer, see attached figure (4).
3. Damping resistor
The damping resistor is connected in series between the high voltage output end of rectifier
transformer and the cathode line of electrostatic precipitator, which is a protective component in the
electric circuit system of rectifier. It plays an important role in the suppression of flashover impact
current, absorption of higher harmonic wave and protection of control circuit during the operation.
For the outdoor type rectifier transformer (with cable exit at the high voltage side) provided
with high voltage isolation switch cabinet, the damping resistor is commonly mounted in the high
voltage isolation switch cabinet.

The resistance and power of damping resistor shall be selected according to “Parameter List
for Main Components in the Primary Circuit” (attached table 2).
4. High voltage isolation switch and switch cabinet
The high voltage isolation switch is used to connect the high voltage incoming terminal in the
electric field of electrostatic precipitator with the high voltage output terminal of rectifier
transformer or the ground so as to ensure the personal safety during the repair of electrostatic
precipitator.
The high voltage isolation switch cabinet is generally used with the outdoor type rectifier
transformer and is placed between the rectifier transformer and temperature holding cabinet. The
flange of high voltage protective cover on the outdoor type rectifier transformer shall be joined to
the inlet flange of switch cabinet. The high voltage inlet and outlet directions of high voltage
isolation switch cabinet as well as the on-off operating direction of high voltage isolation switch
shall be determined by the user according to site arrangement.
II. Operating principle of primary circuit
For the electric schematic diagram, see attached figure (2).
The electric schematic diagram is mainly composed of primary circuit, operating control
circuit and auxiliary circuit (e.g. cooling fan), etc. The single phase alternating current 380V, 50 Hz
power supply is connected with the primary contactor KM1 through fuses FU1 and FU2. After the
control of primary contactor KM1, one output is connected with the input terminal A of transformer
through two silicon controlled rectifiers V1 and V2 in inverse parallel; the other output is connected
with the X1 terminal of transformer through the primary current transformer TA1. The phase-shifted
and voltage-regulated single phase alternating current power supply is output as the negative high
voltage after the voltage boosting and current rectification of transformer, and is supplied to the
electrostatic precipitator through the damping resistor. R7 and R6 are respectively the current
sampling resistor and voltage sampling resistor at the direct current high voltage side. The
secondary current and secondary voltage sampling signals are sent to the controller, which output
the conduction angle of trigger signal controlled thyristor (silicon controlled rectifier) after the
operation and processing of computer system. This automatic control system adopts the dual
closed-loop automatic control system with current inner loop feedback and voltage outer loop
feedback. The functions of other main components in the primary circuit are as follows:

cable and communication cable shall be separately arranged so as to avoid mutual cross
interference.
II. Simulation commissioning of equipment
1. False-load test of the high voltage control cabinet
In order to ensure the safe reliability of equipment, before the first operation and reoperation
after the repair of the equipment, two pieces of power primary cables must be disconnected between
the high voltage control cabinet and rectifier transformer; two incandescent lamp bulbs with their
power not less than 100W shall be connected with each other in series and then be connected with
the power outlet terminal of high voltage control cabinet. Do voltage stepup test in manual
operating mode by using normal equipment starting method so as to ensure that the equipment will
be connected with the rectifier transformer to work at load only after the silicon controlled rectifier
can be triggered normally.
2. Fault alarm test of the equipment
(1) Oil temperature alarm: the rectifier transformer shall be equipped with a PT100
temperature sensor. When the transformer oil temperature reaches 85ć, the controller will send out
a trip signal and give an alarm, and the display screen of controller will display the oil temperature
out-of-tolerance fault of transformer.
(2) High voltage safety interlock: after the installation of transformer, control cabinet and load,
it is necessary to interlock the high voltage output available switch with the startup operation of
control cabinet so as to ensure safe power supply. When the safety interlock is not available, it is not

 12
)XMLDQ/RQJ\DQ=KLFKHQJ(QYLURQPHQWDO3URWHFWLRQ&R/WG

allowed to start the equipment, and the controller has the prompt for unavailable safety interlock.
(3) Load open-circuit/short-circuit protection: when the high voltage output of transformer is
open-circuited, the controller can trip for open circuit and meanwhile control the secondary voltage
does not exceed the rated value; when the high voltage output of transformer is short-circuited, the
controller can trip for short circuit and meanwhile control the secondary current does not exceed the
rated value.
III. Equipment use
1. Check and adjustment before the first startup
(1) Disconnect the power supply for entering the control cabinet;
(2) Check if the plug of controller is connected reliably;
(3) Check if all wires are correct and reliable;
(4) Check if all fuses are in good conditions and without looseness;
(5) Check the insulation of load (electric field of electrostatic precipitator) with a 2500V
megger, and its resistance value shall be above 100M generally.
(6) Check if the secondary current and voltage sampling resistances comply with the
requirements with a multimeter. For the standard secondary current sampling resistance of the
equipment of various specifications, see attached table (2), and the secondary voltage sampling
resistance is 7.8K.
2. Local startup of the equipment:
Close the circuit breaker QF1 of operating power supply, and the “power indicator” green lamp
HL1 will be lit. The master switch SA1 will be changed over to “local” position. The HVC-ZC11
high voltage intelligent controller for power supply will be energized for self-check and be rest by
itself. The display screen will display the salutatory interface, then enter the shutdown recording
interface. After the “confirmation” key is pressed, the system will enter the initial waiting interface.
At this time, if the “automatic” key is pressed, then the controller will automatically control the
pick-up of primary contactor KM1. After that, the voltage will be increased slowly until it reaches a
set limit value. Then, it will operate around this value. When the “manual” key is pressed, it will
enter the manual waiting interface. At this time, the required operation can be selected according to
the menu. After the primary contactor KM1 is picked up, the “power indicator” green lamp HL1
will be turned out and the “system operating” red lamp HL2 will be lit, thus the system will enter

13

the operating state.

Note: when starting the equipment for operation, if the controller has the prompt for
“unavailable safety interlock”, then it indicates that the high voltage isolation switch is not changed
over to the “operating” position or the interlock is connected virtually. At this time, the equipment is
unable to start up. Please try it again after confirming the position of high voltage isolation switch.
3. Local shutdown of the equipment:
After the “stop” key is pressed, the controller will first make the output voltage drop to zero,
then release the primary contactor KM1 and disconnect the primary circuit. At this time, the
“system operating” lamp HL2 is turned out and the “power indicator” lamp HL1 is lit, then it will
be alright after making the master switch SA1 change over to the “off” position. 4. Remote control
of the equipment:
When the equipment requires remote centralized control, first close the circuit breaker QF1 of
operating power supply, then make the master switch change over to the “central control” position.
At this time, the controller is unable to carry out operations such as startup, voltage step-up or
step-down, etc. The work of equipment startup, voltage step-up or step-down, etc. is completely
controlled by the remote PLC or DCS.
5. Operating instructions of the controller
The HVC-ZC11 intelligent controller is provided with a 240x128 high-brightness liquid crystal
display (LCD) and four thin-film keys as the man-machine dialogue window. Among four keys,
except that the reset key is a fixed key, other three keys are draw keys, with their current functions
to be determined by the wizard push-key program. The operator only needs to carry out operation
according to the prompt on the LCD, which is very straight and simple. Six commonly used display
interfaces are shown as follows:

When the faults such as permanent short circuit, open circuit, primary overload, oil
temperature out-of-tolerance, heavy gas alarm, etc. occur in the electric field, the HVC-ZC11
controller will judge them automatically and output the trip signal. At this time, the startup and
shutdown control relay KA2 will be de-energized, the contacts KM2 and KM1 will be released to
disconnect the primary circuit, the fault alarm relay KA3 will be energized, and the fault alarm
buzzer HA1 will give a sound and light alarm. LCD will display the fault parameters and fault
causes. After the “confirmation” key is pressed, the fault alarm relay KA3 will be energized, stop
giving an alarm and return to the initial waiting interface.
IV. Precautions for equipment use
1. In order to ensure the equipment and personal safety, it is strictly forbidden to change over
the high voltage isolation switch or switch off the power supply switch directly when the equipment
is at operating state.
2. The current and voltage feedback signal wires between the rectifier transformer and control
cabinet must use metal shielded wires so as to prevent from the interference.
3. In order to ensure the personal safety, it is strictly forbidden to enter the high voltage
isolation chamber during the operation of equipment.

Equipment Maintenance and Service

I. Service of high voltage control cabinet
Regularly check if there is any overheating, looseness or damage on the components and parts,
circuits and wires within the high voltage control cabinet; according to the ambient conditions on
the site, regularly clean and wipe the high voltage control cabinet to keep the cleanness in the high
voltage control cabinet and rectifier transformer bushing.
II. Service of rectifier transformer
1. Regularly check if the drying agent of rectifier transformer has any change in color. If any, it
shall be replaced promptly.
2. Regularly check if the oil level and temperature rise of rectifier transformer are normal. If
not, please handle them promptly.
3. Regularly wipe the shell of rectifier transformer and check if the shell has any rusting so as
to ensure the cleanness of rectifier transformer and soundness of protective paint on the shell.
4. The transformer oil test shall be conducted annually, which shall comply with the provisions
of GB/T7595-2000. The breakdown voltage shall not be less than 40KV/2.5mm, otherwise,
the oil shall be filtered again or replaced with new oil. The withstand voltage value of new oil
shall be more than 45KV/2.5mm.
III. Measurement of earth resistance
The earth resistance of system shall be measured annually, and the earth resistance value of
each point shall not be more than 2.0.
IV. Active part inspection for rectifier transformer

 20
)XMLDQ/RQJ\DQ=KLFKHQJ(QYLURQPHQWDO3URWHFWLRQ&R/WG
2SHUDWLQJ ,QVWUXFWLRQV IRU **$M 6HULHV +LJK 9ROWDJH 6LOLFRQ 5HFWLILHU IRU (OHFWURVWDWLF 3UHFLSLWDWRU

1. When it has any doubt about the interior after the rectifier transformer has any collision or
other events during the transportation or it needs to conduct repair after a fault occurs during the
operation, the active part inspection shall be conducted.
2. Active part operation for rectifier transformer
(1) Before the active part is lifted, first loosen the oil drain valve on the lower part of
transformer tank and discharge about 80KGS of transformer oil. Pay attention to ensure that the
discharged oil is contained and sealed in a clean vessel so as to prevent the transformer oil from
being polluted. Meanwhile, its storage time shall be as short as possible for fear of becoming damp
and reducing the dielectric strength.
(2) Remove all connecting bolts on the tank cover and tank body.
(3) Before the active part is lifted, for the outdoor type, first open the small cover plate and
stretch the hand into the oil tank. The lifting can be conducted only when the wires between the
high voltage output and porcelain insulator connecting terminal are released with a wrench. After
the active part inspection is finished, the active part shall be put into the oil tank and then restored to
its original condition.
(4) When the active part is lifted, pay attention to the balance of gravity center on the active
part. Four corners of the oil tank shall be monitored so as to prevent from the collision between the
active part and tank body and cause any damage.
(5) After the active part inspection is finished, put the active part into the oil tank and install
and fasten it in opposite direction. Connect the high voltage output wire and fill in the transformer
oil.
3. Main items in the active part inspection are as follows:
(1) If the coil has any collision injury and if the silicon rectifier stack has any crack;
(2) If the high voltage porcelain insulator has any damage and if all parts and fasteners have
any looseness phenomenon;
(3) The iron core shall be grounded reliably and only grounded at one point; for that with a
core-crossing screw stem, measure the insulation resistance between it and core with a 2500V
megger, and the resistance value must be more than 1000M.
4. Precautions for the active part inspection for transformer:
(1) The lifting of active part shall be conducted in good weather conditions when it is dry

21
)XMLDQ/RQJ\DQ=KLFKHQJ(QYLURQPHQWDO3URWHFWLRQ&R/WG
 2SHUDWLQJ,QVWUXFWLRQVIRU**$M6HULHV+LJK9ROWDJH6LOLFRQ5HFWLILHUIRU(OHFWURVWDWLF3UHFLSLWDWRU

without dust and moisture (the relative humidity shall not be more than 75%) and at a clean position.
Its lifting time shall be as short as possible so as to avoid from becoming damp or being polluted
and thus reducing the dielectricity. The active part inspection cannot be conducted in rainy days.
(2) When the lifted active part is exposed to the air, its continuous time for contacting with the
air outside shall not exceed the following provisions:
In dry air (the relative humidity of air shall not be more than 65%) 3 hours.
In humid air (the relative humidity of air shall not be more than 75%) 1 hours.
(3) After the rectifier transformer goes through the active part inspection, the power-on test can
be conducted only after the transformer oil is filled back and generally stands for 24 hours for fear
of high voltage discharge in bubbles.
5. Withstand voltage test for transformer oil
If the condition permits, the breakdown voltage shall be measured for transformer oil. The oil
sample shall be taken from the oil drain valve. At this time, the oil temperature shall not be lower
than +5ć. The transformer oil must go through the withstand voltage test, and the average instant
breakdown voltage value of five tests shall be more than 35KV/2.5mm. If the breakdown voltage of oil
is lower than the required value, it can be used only when the causes are found out and it is handled
accordingly. In addition, if it needs to replenish oil, it is preferable to add the oil of same grade as far as
possible. In case the oil grade is different, then it can be mixed for use only after the chemical analysis is
conducted in advance.
6. Withstand voltage test for transformer
The rectifier transformer has already go through the induced voltage withstand test and applied
high voltage test before leaving the factory. If the high voltage test is required on the site, then it is
necessary to short circuit the high voltage set on the silicon rectifier stack, disassemble the high
voltage measuring resistor and current feedback outlet wire, put them into the oil again and stand
for 24 hours. Then the high voltage porcelain insulator shall go through the withstand voltage test to
earth. Otherwise, the applied high voltage test can not be conducted. For the silicon rectifier
transformer below 72KV, its test voltage shall be more than 1.1 times of rated voltage and less than
1.5 times of rated voltage.
