The VALKE RUGBY FACTORY which has been established in 2013 has received formal approval from the
PRETORIA HARLEQUIN RUGBY CLUB (QUINS) to be re-branded as the HARLEQUIN INTERNATIONAL
RUGBY FACTORY (HIRF) going forward.

The newly formed partnership will create a career path for players that leave school which caters for under 19 and
under 20 players on a full time basis.

QUINS are a globally recognised and respected brand and the original HARLEQUIN CLUB in London is the
founding member of rugby in 1866.

HIRF players will be registered with QUINS and the Blue Bulls which gives them eligibility to play semi-
professional rugby for QUINS BOBBIES RUGBY (QBR) in the highly anticipated, highly contested Volcano
under 20 Super League.

Later in the season will players also be eligible to play Provincial Rugby in the prestigious SARU under 20
Championship and will HIRF give players an opportunity to trial at the Valke, Bulls, Limpopo Bulls, Pumas as
well as the Cheetahs.

QBR was formed out of the merging of HARLEQUIN RUGBY CLUB and POLICE RUGBY CLUB in
Pretoria two years ago to become one of 8 Super Clubs which participates in the Inter Provincial Club
Competition.

QBR went on to win the prestigious Carlton Cup in 2017 and in doing so qualified to compete in the Gold Cup
where they ended up being ranked as the 3rd best Club in South Africa.

This year QBR lost in the semi-finals of the Carlton Super Series.

For 2019 the format has been expanded which will include 5 Gold Cup Teams and 1 Varsity Cup Team from 4
Provinces from the Northern part of South Africa and the elite of the HIRF will have the opportunity to be part of
this squad.

During 2018 QBR has sent 13 players overseas, namely UK, Germany and Poland where they were given the
opportunity to participate in various rugby programmes and or competitions and while doing so gain some
international experience and exposure.

Currently QBR have 34 Blue Bulls and 2 Springbok Players registered with the Club.

QUINS also have a fantastic 7’s side which won all but one of their competitions in 2018 which gave 6 of our elite
players’ opportunity to represent the Blue Bulls 7’s team which has been to Lesotho, Namibia and Zambia and
which is currently preparing for their annual trip to the Dubai 7’s tournament.

HIRF is extremely excited about the new partnership with QUINS and QBR and we look forward to help Rugby
Factory players create a career path where they can pursue their dreams to become a professional rugby player.
