Unit 2: Plan, Organize and Facilitate group-based learning

Purpose-

The purpose of this unit is to enable you to develop the skills and knowledge required to plan, organise
and facilitate learning for individuals within a group.

Assessment;

 You are required to plan facilitate / deliver training to a group of min three (3) individuals.
 The duration of the training session should be a minimum of 40 mins.
 Training session should be delivered in a realistic training environment.
 Training can be on any topic other than topics already used in unit 1 and 2.
 You are required to use an existing learning resource, learning material, or learning activity that
has been modified to meet the needs of your learners
 One of your learners will be required to simulate a non-verbal inappropriate behavior which you
will have to manage
 At the end of your session, your participants will need to complete session evaluation, which
you will upload, with the rest of your session resources and session plan.
 Upload the recording of your session or have your supervisor complete a session observation
form.

Assessment guidance

Part 1

1. Identify a unit and use the unit specification / learning program documentation to create a
delivery requirement document P.C 1.1 (1 term scheme of work / delivery schedule)

2. Identify group and individual learner needs and characteristics (Individual characteristics and
needs upload / group profile) P.C1.2)

3. Confirm your role and responsibilities to plan and deliver training (Your role and
responsibilities Stakeholder matrix Roles and responsibilities matrix) P.C 1.3)

Part 2 (P.C 2.1/2.2)

4. Prepare 2 session plans and document these plans for each segment of the learning program

Part 3. (PC.3.1-3.3)

5. Prepare lesson resources to meet the needs of your learners to be used during your group
delivery. Upload a copy of an existing learning material, you have modified for your session (P.C
3.1)
6. Check classroom equipment and confirm delivery arrangements with supervisor (Supervisor
approval document) (PC 3.2-3.3)

Part 4- (4.1-5.4)

7. Deliver session according to session plan (but be flexible enough to modify plan where
necessary) ensuring the following P.C’s are covered:

4.1 Be able to deliver and facilitating training sessions


Performance criteria:
4.1. Session plan, is conducted and modified where appropriate to meet learner needs.
4.2. Diversity of the group is used as another resource to support learning.
4.3. A range of delivery methods are employed to optimise learner experiences.
4.4. Facilitation skills are demonstrated to ensure effective participation and group management.

Learning outcome 5: Be able to support and monitor learning


Performance criteria:
5.1. Learner progress is monitored and documented to ensure outcomes are being achieved and
learner needs are being met.
5.2. Delivery session adjustments are made to reflect specific needs and circumstances.
5.3. Behavior is managed to ensure learning can take place.
5.4. Learner records are maintained and stored according to organizational requirements.

Part 6: Participate Feedback

Obtain feedback from your learners on the training you have provided to evaluate its effectiveness.

(Modify and use the feedback form provided in unit 1 or use your own documentation if you prefer)

Part 7: Self Evaluation

Complete and upload Self Evaluation template-

Part 8: Video recording of your group- based learning.

You will be required to submit a video of the delivery of your group- based learning session for review.
You must demonstrate in the recording that you have covered all PC. 4.1-5.4. If you have chosen the
Supervisor observation option, you should ensure your supervisor provides detailed comment with
specific examples of how you have met PC 4.1-5.4.
