CORROSION AND INSPECTION STRATEGY DOCUMENT

BSR ORDER NO: VV-05-11-2011-A VELOSI PROJECT NO. VAIL-12-193

The summary of the units, process conditions, materials and the expected degradation
mechanisms are provided in section 4 (refer to Table 4.1).
II. Identification of Damage Mechanisms
The corrosion circuits are developed to highlight the damage mechanisms on each corrosion
circuits. Identification of the damage mechanisms for equipment and piping is done in
accordance with NACE papers (Corrosion in the Oil Refining Industries), UOP and API
standards. API 571 has identified 66 applicable damage mechanisms. However, total thirty five
(35) Damage Mechanisms are applicable for equipments and piping systems associated with
Processing at BSR Phase I Units. Refer to table 2.1:

III. Evaluation of Corrosion Monitoring System
Corrosion monitoring techniques carried out at BSR includes corrosion coupons, electrical
resistance probes, chemical sampling analysis and corrosion monitoring by NDT techniques.
Corrosion monitoring by NDT techniques includes thickness measurement and flaw detection
techniques to assess the present condition of the operating system, highlighted in respective
section of each unit.
IV. Evaluation of Corrosion Control System
Corrosion control system at BSR includes Painting, coating system, anti fouling, Corrosion
Inhibitor, Oxygen Scavenger, Antifoaming, Bio Dispersant and Biocide. As per the available
data, only chemical injection types and locations are available.
