Adopting Tesol Practices for Exemplary Teaching English Learners in the K-12 Program

The “Shaping the Way we Teach” of American English TESOL Leadership Training of Trainers
conducted the seminar headed by Ms. Rina A. Angeles. The seminar is entitled Adopting TESOL
Practices for exemplary Teaching English Learners in the K-12 Program.

I always get excited every time I attend a seminar, looking forward for the new techniques,
strategies and pedagogies that I might get during the discussion. And truly, a fruitful and informative
seminar transpired that day. The speakers, Ms. Rina A. Angeles and Mr. Romualdo Mabuan are very
generous in sharing their knowledge to us. The topics are so substantial that I liked them so much.

Mr. Mabuan introduced us the Color Vowel Chart. The Color Vowel Chart is a tool where the teacher
can use it in the pronunciation lessons. A powerful chart as defined in American English for the
teacher can download it or can use it interactively in class. Interactive, since you can check the sound
or the correct pronunciation when you check on the box or the color box.
While Ms. Rina Angeles, presented and equipped us with the Six Principles for Exemplary Teaching
English Learners and the Coaching Skills. We, teachers are responsible for our students success. But
sometimes, we are also the reasons of why our students fail to fulfill their dreams. With the proper
coaching skills, we can help and even assure our students success. Ms. Rina, is not only generous in
sharing her knowledge to us, but also in providing us with heaps of handouts.

“No one holds the monopoly of knowledge” the concluding words of the speakers in the seminar.
The speakers challenged us to share what we have learned. I accepted the challenge and ready to
impart all of it with my students. Indeed, it was a great seminar. I/We hope that the American
English through Ms. Rina Angeles will create more seminars like this.
