MEDIA CROWD AND MEDIA CULTURE

MEDIA CROWD
In the era of modern technology and dynamic invention , science has spread its wings in every section
of the society and in the daily life of human being and in the mind and thinking of men and women .New
discovery of different types of technology and its implication in the society has marked a profound
impact on the life style of men and women, on their choice, on their taste, on their likings and disliking
and their selection of message from different source what they want to keep in their mind and what
they want to ignore. Different types of electronic gazettes like televisions, laptops, desktops, mobile
phones, tablets, pagers, palmtops, satellite receiver projectors spread different message and news from
different source like corporate sectors, news sectors, education sectors, engineering sectors and
medical sectors. Internet, satellites and optic fibre cables are the medium that helps to exchange news
from different sources. Sometimes it works directly, sometimes through the means of code and decode.

When satellites, internet and receiving devices and electronic gazettes works jointly for broadcasting,
conveying messages, publishing news and exchange various views from various source is called media.
Media plays a crucial role for determining peoples’ daily activities and lifestyle. Human beings are
indirectly typified by the impact of media. Sometimes media create impact on human being directly
sometimes indirectly, sometimes profoundly sometimes slightly. In this way media indirectly controls daily
activities of men and women in our society. Media acts as a tool to receive, send or store information or
data. When media give information through entertainment, it is called infotainment. Media is two types
(A) Electronic media; television, radio, internet connected smartphones and computers. (B) Print media;
press, publishing and print advertising. When both jointly work is called mass-media. When electronic
media and printed media with their components (television, radio, smartphones, press, publishing) work
jointly in a disorganised way is called media crowd. Media crowd is a condition where every media is
presented but no one is organised in a proper way but in a disassembled position.

Characteristics of media crowd:

a) It is modern concept in the field of technology.

b) It indirectly determines daily activities of human beings.

c) It is a situation where every component of media jointly reached at the home of the consumer.

d) It represents the concept of globalization.

e) It reduces the absolute controlling power of any particular media.


Advantages of media crowd:

a) It helps to increase knowledge of pupils and peoples.

b) It provides study materials to students.

c) It gives information to students related to admission, scholarship, exam result.

d) It keeps students and people updated and upgraded with the contemporary situation of modern
technology.

Disadvantage of media crowd:

a) It reduces the value of learners and peoples.

b) It reduces concentration capacity of students.

c) It decreases study time of students.

In present time media crowd is a concept that has gradually taken its place in the mind of people
who are aware about the intense impact of technology in our day to day life including education system,
corporate sector and information exchange system that directly or indirectly has influenced on media
sector.

MEDIA CULTURE
Media culture is a culture that is formed, developed and spread by the developed countries to the
under developing countries. It is a culture that is totally nourished and maintained by the media. Electronic
media like television, computers, smart phones and print media like newspapers, magazines are
responsible to bring change from rich traditional culture to modern superficial culture differ from
traditional habits, values, daily life style. In media culture, present television programme, reality shows,
cinemas, different types of advertisement give intense impact on cultural activities, habits and practice. It
is gradually developed and spread its wings almost every sphere of human activities in day to day life.
Media culture has changed ethical values of the human being and has given birth a new type of value
totally influenced by the media.

Characteristics of media culture:

a) Media culture is dynamic: Media culture is changing constantly as new ideas, techniques and invention
are added as time passes modifying or changing the old culture.
b) Media culture is contemporary: Media culture always follow the path of modernism.

c) Media culture is contradictory to rich traditional culture.

d) Media culture is determined by the like what’s up facebook, instragram and twitter etc.

e) Media culture always spread from urban areas to rural areas.

Advantage of media culture:

a) It helps pupils and peoples to stay up to date.

b) It helps to stay connected with new invention, new technology and new discovery of educational things.

c) It helps to acquire new knowledge and information from different source.

d) Media culture gives a new aesthetic sense.

Disadvantage of media culture:

a) It indirectly destroys old habits, ritual and custom.

b) It changes old ways of living.

C) Old art, architecture, sculpture replace by new that indirectly destroy old.

Media and culture are closely related to each other and culture is the representative of various
parts of the society that create a new culture what is called media culture.

A) Media and home environment: Media gives a profound impact on home environment by its
modern features and modern life style. Architecture of home, home appliances, interior design of
home is indirectly composed by the media.

B) Media and school environment: School environment is indirectly influenced by the media
because behaviour of students is indirectly determined by the media. Students follow the style of
their role model, it may be any actor, actress, player, singer or any famous personality.

C) Media and society: Media creates great impact on society because value, habits, rituals and
festivals is determined by the media.
D) Media and aesthetic sense: Media gives the birth of new aesthetic sense to the peoples of the
society by new fashion sense and etiquette.

E) Media and daily life style: Daily lifestyle of peoples is organised by the media from morning to
night by the impact of newspapers, television programme.

F) Media and grooming: Media determines the dressing sense of men and women of various age
group and of various profession.

G) Media and economic status of the family: Media indirectly shows different ways to earn money
that help to increase economic condition of the family. Sell of commodities and earning money is
another impact of media in the family.

H) Media and attitude and aptitude of the people: Media impacts on the mind of the people.
Peoples’ mind transfer from orthodox to dynamic with the contemporary present situation.

I) Media and agriculture: Media advertises pesticides and show different style of nourishing trees
that help farmers to cultivate their plant with more productive ways.

J) Media and taste: Media make changes the taste of pupils. Men and women receive what they
see like different types of music, various television programme, different types of films.

K) Medeia and technology: Media through advertisement show different types of electronic
gazette that keeps profound impact on the mind of people that effects on their daily life style.

L) Media and education system: Media changes the education system. Modern subject like media
study, MBA, MCA, M.Tech., MSW, film study, cultural study, hotel management, hospital
management, disaster management, microbiology, neuroscience, home science, nutrition, fine
arts and crafts are the subjects that come in front by the impact of media.

M) Media and job opportunity: Media show different and modern types of job opportunity that
attracts young learners to take new carrier as their profession like radio jockey, disk jockey,
youtubers, vlogger, blogger, musicians, choreographer, editing, photography, fashion designing,
interior designing, counselling, online teacher, job in call center, soft skill trainer, beauticians,
content writing, travel agency, online food and daily commodity supplier, telemarketing,
cybercafe, jewellery designing, app based transport service etc.

N) Media and literature: Relation between media and literature is very significant. Literature
based cinemas like Devdas, Pride and Prejudices, Chander Pahar, Parinita, Twelfth night, Seser
Kobita, Tin kanya, Ghore Baire, Feluda, Bomkesh, Kakababu, Harrypoter etc. and television serial
like Devi Choudhurani, Chirokumar sova are the typical examples of this.

O) Media and sports: Media do not propagate sports but sports by its own capacity and attraction
reach at every corner of the countries by the media as a medium. Players of various place of the
countries enjoy by watching through television or smartphones and they also learn every rules
and regulations of various indoor and outdoor game like cricket, rugby, ice skating, billiard, Chess,
Hocky, football etc.

P) Media and parenthood: Media help father and mother to take care of their children properly.
Child rearing process is determined by the media because new father and mother learn many
things from media and apply it on their children according to need.

Q) Media and food: Media effects on consuming style of the people, people can know about
various menu of different countries from media, and they want to taste it by preparing at home
or visiting at a restaurant where their desired menu is available.

R) Media and daily commodity: Daily commodity of home is affected by media, people prefer to
those things what is shown in media. For instance, people prefer packed food instead of
traditionally available food in open market.

S) Media and relationship: Media indirectly controls relationship by its various impact. For
instance, young generation mainly make friendship with young generation or same generation
because they can relate with other with same thinking with the help of modern electronic devices.

T) Media and school curriculum: School curriculum is affected by media. Inclusion of Information
and communication Technology, Information technology enable services, Computer operating
systems, use of internet, e-mail etc. are the example that media and school curriculum is
connected to each other.

Media culture is a tide of technology that comes and changes in a circle process. What is new
today, tomorrow it will become old and something new will take this place and this process will continue
with the change of media and its effective segments and being a part of society, men and women will
follow the changes to cope with transforming culture.
