Comments on Detailed Design from CH75+661-CH77+013.624

Review Scope

Plan and profile in detailed design stage from Andarawewa to Mattla(CH75+661-CH77+013.624).

Comments

A Common Problems

Same common problems can be found in the comments of South-North Direction.

B Individual Problems

1 Length of Main line from Andarawewa-Mattala is shorten to a certain degree comparing to

the Contract Drawing, plan and profile of remaining section varies a lot, horizontal alignment
is also to be adjusted to South while ending point connected to T-intersection of B631, which
makes the square crossing. Reason for adjustment like above mentioned should be explained
by the Contractor, otherwise, relevant official letter should be submitted to the Engineer’s
review and Employer’s final approval, which can be deemed the basis of detailed design of
captioned section.

2 Check the selected value and reserve the decimals in the table of of horizontal curve and
vertical curve in the same, make them be in consistent with which in the plan and profile.

3 Put isometric easement curve to the both ends of curves when its radius equal to 3000m,
meanwhile increase the radius of vertical curve at CH76+721.

4 Check the distance requirements and reference like distance from center of toll gate to end
of long span bridge, length of toll plaza.

5 Standard such as design speed from toll gates to designed terminal point should be
supplementary.

6 Canceling the gradient of -0.8%, and shifting the critical curve outside the toll plaza.

7 Adding the survey data of plan, profile and cross section of B631, and confirming whether
a reconstruction plan existed or not.

8Check the clearance requirements for long span bridge located atCH76+140-CH76+380( for
the needs of Elephant Pass)

9 Acceleration and deceleration lane in the junction and length of tapered section should be
set per specification requirements and road standard.
