Introduction about plastic

Plastics are used on a daily basis

throughout the world. The word plastic is a
common term that is used for many
materials of a synthetic or semi-synthetic
nature. The term was derived from the
Greek plastikos, which means “fit for
molding.” Plastics are a wide variety of
combinations of properties when viewed as
a whole. They are used for shellac,
cellulose, rubber, and asphalt. We also
synthetically manufacture items such as
clothing, packaging, automobiles,
electronics, aircrafts, medical supplies, and
recreational items. The list could go on and
on and it is obvious that much of what we
have today would not be possible without
plastics.
The name of experiment\
Identification of plastics

from lift right specimen (1-2-3-4)

Identification of plastics (1) for specimen 1
and 3

The cut with sharp knife for specimen 3 give

us flakes so its thermoset and give us dark
colour the specimen is (PF).

The cut with sharp knife for specimen 1 give

us coherent slivers so its thermoplastic if we
drop it on hard suface we hear metallic ring so
its on of these (GPPS;HIPS;SAN;ABS;PC)

Identification of plastics (1) for specimen 2

and 4
The cut with sharp knife for specimen 2 give
us coherent slivers so its thermoplastic if we
drop it on hard suface we hear dull sound we
drop it in water its floats so its polyoefins the
surface finish is high gloss and some scratch
so its (HDPE).
The cut with sharp knife for specimen 4 give
us coherent slivers so its thermoplastic if we
drop it on hard suface we hear dull sound we
drop it in water its sinks so its (PVC;PA;POM)

specimen 2 in water
Identification of plastics (2) for specimen 1
and 2
If we gental heat of specimen 1 the specimen
is melting

specimen 1 after gentle heat

Its thermoplastic if we burn it
continues to burn give us yellow smoke

specimen 1 after burn

and smell like marigolds so its (GPPS).

If we gental heat of specimen 2 the specimen
is melting

specimen 2 after gentle heat and colour

Its thermoplastic if we burn it

continues to burn give us blue white tip and
smell like waxy so its (LDPE;HDPE)
Identification of plastics (2) for specimen 3
and 4
If we gental heat of specimen 3 the specimen
is charing

specimen 3 after gentle heat

Its thermoset if we burn it self- extingushing
when we removed the smoke colour is none

specimen 3 after burn

and smell none so its (PTEF)

If we gental heat of specimen 4 the specimen
is charing

specimen 2 after gentle heat and colour

Its thermoset if we burn it self- extingushing

when we removed the smoke colour is yellow
smoke and smell like acrid so its (PVC)
