RE: COMMUNITY FOOD MARKET ASSISTANT SUMMER POSITION

To whom it my concern,

As an outgoing student who, among other things, is passionate about food and people it excites me greatly to apply for this
position.

As of last year, I have completed my high school diploma. I began working at Van Gogh’s Ear, a busy and vibrant restaurant
located in downtown Guelph. This has led to a tremendous growth in my work experience and character. My previous
experience as waitstaff at the Italian Canadian Club and a teacher’s assistant at the Montessori School of Wellington has
provided me with an array of skillsets that would make me an ideal candidate for your position.

Regarding my ability to meet the specific requirement of the position:

 On your feet for long hours: Worked in environments that required me to be on my feet for most if not all hours of
the working period.
 Busy fast paced market environment: Having worked at a busy restaurant and a banquet hall, has given me the
ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
 Ability to lift up to 50lbs: Stocking of produce in my foodservice experience required frequent lifting of heavy
objects.
 Customer service: Dealing with people, evaluating their wants, and providing them with the best service possible
has been the backbone of my work experience, in both foodservice and childcare. Constantly dealing with
customers in a polite and competent manner provided me with success in my previous endeavors.

As a high school student, I was, and continue to be, heavily involved in the arts. My teachers and peers commended me for
my exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, and creative abilities. I plan to pursue my career in the arts as an acting
student at Ryerson’s School of Performance arts in Toronto this fall. Having been selected to participate in this highly
competitive program is a mark of my dedication and willingness to always exceed expectations. I love people. I love making
people happy. It gives me a sense of fulfillment. In this effort I am always looking to challenge myself and explore
opportunities for growth.

I understand that you undoubtedly receive many applications from many students for this position. However, I believe that
my existing skills, motivation, and exceptional work ethic can be a tremendous asset to your organization.

I look forward to (hopefully) meeting and working with you.

Thank you for your consideration,

Ben Yoganathan
