Although no duty holster is "Snatch-Proof", retention should be one of the primary design objectives of any manufacturer. Unfortunately, some
holster companies are still selling holsters that will "Give-up" their gun with one quick yank in the right direction.
Safariland's duty holsters are not only built to last, they're designed with weapon retention and officer safety in mind. However, no industry
standard exists to rate a holster's ability to resist weapon takeaway attempts.
For that reason , Safariland has developed a system of rating a holster's Retention Level.

These retention ratings give the holster buyer a method to quickly determine the relative Retention Level of different holster models. The ratings
Level I Retention holsters offer Moderate Retention
Level II Retention holsters offer Enhanced Retention
Level III Retention holsters offer Optimum Retention
Level IV Retention holsters offer Exceptional Retention
Level V Retention holsters offer Maximum Retention

The information on both sides of this flyer will help explain how Safariland performed its test. You can perform your own test and compare with
other types of uniform holsters.

For all tests: Mount holster on a strong 2 1/4" duty belt. Mount the belt on an immovable object or a volunteer testing associate; take caution
not to injure anyone. Grab stock of handgun and pull in the direction outlined in test. Try not to open the thumb-break snap with your hand during
Test 1 & 2 Pull from front - Pull out the front of the holster
Pull from side - Pull out toward the side of the holster
Pull from rear - Pull from the back of the holster

Test 3 Level II & III Testing – (Repeat test 1 & 2 in addition to below)
295 - Snap is open
6280 - Hood is pressed down
070 - Thumb-break snap is open and trigger guard snap is closed
6360/6365-ALS-Hood is open

Test 4 Level III, IV, & V - (Repeat test 1, 2 & 3 in addition to below)
070 - Thumb-break snap is closed and trigger guard snap is open
6360/6365-ALS-Hood is open
