There are four basic levels of wiring which can be identified. These classes or levels are
listed below.
Analog signals greater than 50 V and switching circuits greater than 15 V DC bus less than 28
V DC.
Switching signals greater than 50 V. Regulating signals of 50 V with currents less than 20 A.
AC feeders less than 20 A.
Level 4 - Power
* Use only solid metal troughs with solid metal covers. Levels 1 and 2 cables may be
installed in common cable tray, if grounded steel barrier is used and clearances are
maintained. Keep Level 1 and 2 raceways away from Levels 3 and 4 cable trays. Use
different routing where possible.
** In most of the applications, Level 3 and 4 cables may be run in common cable trays, if
barrier is being used. But the minimum clearances listed below are recommended for
such cases as:
• Power over 1000 V and/or 800 A (Note 6000 V cables 400 V MCC feeders).
Digital input cables +5 V through +125 V may be routed together with level 1 cables. All
digital input cables are to be routed separately from Level 4 cables, separated from level 3
cables if 28 V or less, and separately from Level 2 cables if 12 V or less.
